Patch to detect perl using autoconf
For systems that don't have perl at /usr/bin/perl, fixpaths doesn't run. I've added a check in configure.in to find where perl is and use it to run fixpaths. Using automake & libtool instead of just autoconf.. ?
Since we also ``sometimes'' have problems with incorrect configurations... ;-) Read this on the octave mailing list : (I'm not using octave; I'm trying to hear what they are talking about) ------- Start of forwarded message ------- Date: Mon, 17 May 1999 10:30:51 +0200 From: Thomas Walter <walter@pctc.chemie.uni-erlangen.de> To: jwe@bevo.che.wisc.edu CC:

Need versions of automake and autoconf not in repository
I have the latest updates to CentOS 5.6. However, I need different versions of autoconf and automake. How can this be handled? What will happen on later updates? Currently I have autoconf (GNU Autoconf) 2.59 automake (GNU automake) 1.9.6 I need autoconf 2.69-1 and automake 1.11.6. Thanks, John -- John J. need automake/autoconf help to build RnetCDF and ncdf packages
I imagine this "where are your header files" problem comes up in other packages, so I'm asking this as a general R question. How should configure scripts be re-written so they look in more places? Briefly, the problem is that Fedora-Extras installs the header files in a subdirectory /usr/include/netcdf-3 rather than /usr/include: # rpm -ql netcdf-devel /usr/include/netcdf-3

need automake/autoconf help to build RnetCDF and ncdf packages
Greetings all, I recently tried to install RNetCDF from within R (install.packages) on Fedora Core 8 (with netcdf 3.6.2 and netcdf-devel 3.6.2 already installed). This resulted in an error because the netcdf header files are installed in /usr/include/netcdf-3 rather than /usr/include which is where RNetCDF looks for them. This problem was described in a 2006 post (see below), but no

Compiling CVS? (automake/autoconf problem with autogen.sh?)
I've eagerly grabbed the current CVS as of a few minutes ago, and attempted to build and play with theora, but am running into a snag with the autogen.sh script: ------------------------------------------------------------------------ bash-2.05# ./autogen.sh I am going to run ./configure with no arguments - if you wish to pass any to it, please specify them on the ./autogen.sh command line.

OpenSSH-3.0p1-pre-CVS: configure.ac checks for login in -lutil and -lbsd?
OpenSSH-3.0p1-pre, from CVS as of about 2001-10-30 23:45 UTC. Any particular reason why configure is checking for login() in -lutil, finds it, then checks for it again in -lbsd? Here's the relevant excerpts (Red Hat Linux 6.2, , kernel-2.2.19, glibc-2.1.3, egcs-1.1.2, autoconf-2.52): $ CFLAGS='-O2 -mpentium -Wall'; export CFLAGS $ ./configure

[PATCH] tis authserv support
Hi, We at BalaBit IT Security Ltd developed a patch against openssh 2.3.0p1 to support TIS authserv authentication. TIS authserv uses a simple protocol, and supports CryptoCard, SKey, password etc. authentication. The commercial versions of SSH support this protocol, OpenSSH implemented SKey on its own using the protocol primitives originally invented for TIS authentication. Our patch is an

Is fixpaths the only perl dependency?
Hello. I just tried to download and build the 2.3.0.p1 (portable) release with Cygwin on an NT box. It fails to build because of the use of a perl script. Cygwin does not have Perl installed by default and to be honest it seems like a bit of a stretch to require perl to be able to build shh, that just makes it harder to build. I poked around and it seems like these files depend on perl:

Patch for unformatted manpages
The attached patch (relative to the current CVS snapshot) uses a perl script to convert the OpenSSH manpages from the BSD -mdoc format to the -man format used by other systems. This allows the unformatted manpages to be installed normally, rather than defaulting to preformatted pages. I'd like to see this patch integrated into the portable version of OpenSSH. Please let me know what you

Building without perl
I can't seem to compile 3.5p1 on a Solaris 9 box with gcc and GNU make. The box does not have perl installed on it. When I run configure, it correctly detects the absence of perl on the system, but make dies immediately trying to run "fixpaths", which is a perl script. PERL is set to nothing in the Makefile. Is perl required? The docs don't say it is... if not, how do I get

Minor fixes for openssh-SNAP-20001028
I've attached a patch for openssh-SNAP-20001028 which fixes the following two problems: 1) I fixed fixpaths to complain instead of failing silently if it can't write the output file. 2) I changed log-server.c to use av0 as the first argument to openlog(). I also made sure it called openlog() before the TCP wrapper stuff, because libwrap calls syslog() and winds up using the

New snapshot
I have just uploaded a new snapshot to: http://www.mindrot.org/misc/openssh/openssh-SNAP-20001114.tar.gz This snapshot includes Markus Friedl's new SSH2 RSA authentication work and -R portforwarding for SSH2. Please give these a good test. The new RSA authentications works similar to the current SSH2 DSA keys, but requires a little modification to config files. Currently RSA key cannot be

Make Install Problems
I'm in the process of installing openssh 2.5.1p2 and the make install step fails. I did the build without problems. Now when I attempt to do the make install it fails with the output below. Software build process should have to separate steps. A build step and an install step. The install step should not create or modify any files in the tree structure as this will fail when a root user is
