WiFi phones and WDS (Wireless Distribution System)
I'm about to start working with WiFi phones on my Asterisk
installations.
Can anyone tell me if they are using WiFi phones on wireless network
that is extended with WDS and how well the phone handles jumping from
access point to access point while on a call?
Do any WiFi phones support WPA encryption or are they all still under
the impression they are only being used on public hot spots?

AutoCad 2004, Samba 3.0.11 & file locking issues
Sorry for such a long post as my first to the list, but in an effort to
forego a long back and forth question/answer session via email, I think
if I post all the information that I currently have someone may be able
to more quickly spot my issue.
The server in question is a Gentoo server running Samba 3.0.11.
The basic problem is that when person A opens an AutoCad file, person B
is unable to

Synchronizing multiple samba servers
Hi.
I have two servers located in two different time zones. I want to know if
there is a way to keep the shares synchronized. Right now what i thought
is to run rsync from Server A to Server B . However the issue is say Server
B has a new version of the file in server A and that should not be
overwritten but should be copied back to server A. How to go about this?

Synchronizing two folders
Hello,
I'm quite new to rsync, and after reading and checking some examples I
still have a question regarding synchronization:
What arguments should I use if I want to synchronize two folders?
I need to make sure that after synchronization, contents on each side
are the same. If I have new files in folder #2, these aren't copied to
folder #1 after the process. It only passes files

Autocad file corruption...
I am having problems with autocad file corruption. My users are
draftsman and access project files via samba over the network. This
problem occurs after a file has been worked on and someone attempts open
a file that they were working on. There is no indication of a problem
while the file is open and being worked on. But when they try to
re-open it, autocad thinks the file is corrupt and it

rsync when working on both sides...
Hi rsync devs and users,
I want to use rsync to synchronize home directories on two PCs. It works
fine if I start rsync after working on a host each time I leave. But
instead of operating modes "host1 -> host2" and "host2 -> host1" I would
like to have a mode "host1 <-> host2" to allow synchronizing at any time
-> Scenario:
- on host1 files A,B have

Best practice for sieve script synchronization
We consider deploying a two server active-active setup with
dsync replication for ~2500 users.
I was wondering how people handle sieve script synchronization in such
setups.
We came up with a few options for syncing:
1) rsync/unison ~/sieve every x seconds
2) move sieve dirs to separatate partition and sync with
gluster or drbd
3) patch roundcube managesieve sieve plugin to upload

Firewalling SMTP
I have a Centos server and I want to only accept mail for the local users
from 3 mail servers, but I still want the users to be able to send emails
through this server, If I firewall the SMTP port to my 3 mail servers is
there any way users will be able to still send via the main POP server ?
(currently using Sendmails SMTP-Auth)
Thanks

use with Centos & 4 10k drives as raid 1 & 0 to get the best

Thanks

Sync multiple devices through a server running rsync in daemon mode
Hi, folks!
I have a question about rsync running in daemon mode.
Let's pretend that two mobile devices, X and Y, need to be synchronized by
means of a server, where the rsync is running in daemon mode. If the device
X starts synchronizing a file with the server and after a short while
(before the device X finishes its sync) the device Y also tries to sync
with (the same file), does the rsync

Recommended wireless card (or is there a chance to get either iwi or ath fixed)?
Hi,
after some time without FreeBSD I installed 7.1 on an IBM Thinkpad T30

Config is:

ath(4) for D-Link G520M on 5.5-R?
I just got the D-Link DWL-G520M PCI wireless card. I'm not interested in
super-G or any other post-802.11b feature in particular; the reason I got
it was because the marketing materials hinted that (at least some revision
of it) had the Atheros chipset.
It isn't recognized at all by ath(4) on 5.5. Here is the pciconf -lv
section:

Samba Replication
Hello, I have the following situation:
I have two offices, which both require local speed access to their file
shares. Currently there is a single windows server that provides network
shares to both offices, the remote one through a vpn.
I have used Samba since the early days, and am quite familiar with it's
capabilities and limitations, however I have never tried to perform
replication with

Low-memory Centos5?
Good morning,
I've inherited an old laptop from my wife that I'd like to
use when I travel (it's fairly small with a 12" screen). The
bad part is that it is maxed out on memory with 384MB.
Has anyone played with using Centos5 on systems with
little memory? Ideally, I don't need too much - Firefox,
Openoffice, a little Perl/Python/C here and there. I was
thinking about using

WLAN support
Hi folks!
First post here, so please don't bother if it's not the right place
to post those kind of questions.
I'm currently running a 4.7-release (upgrade to 4.8 planned but not
yet started) on my production box.
As I would like to setup a small WLAN (major use for my notebook,
other clients are possible) I need to know which cards are really
supported. The handbook is IMHO not

Implementing a conditional branch within rsync based on modified time of a file
Greetings,
I've been looking through archives, googling, and reading through man pages to no avail for some time now. I believe I need some combination of rsync -u (update) and rsync --del, and I'm not quite sure how to get it.
I'm looking to build a rough implementation of a multi-client rdiff-backup system; in order to do this I'm using rsync before rdiff-backup.
