[PATCH] configure.ac: Add mandoc as valid formatter
Hi,
On systems that have mandoc installed but are missing an nroff binary,
the configure script will fall back to pre-formatted manual pages
despite the fact that mandoc could be used.
The proposed patch adds mandoc as a valid formatter to configure.ac. As
mandoc supports the -mdoc flag, it can simply be added to the list of
nroff-like binaries.

1.2.3pre2 works great on Solaris 2.7 except man
Right out of the box (after I made Damien's LDFLAGS fix in configure) using
gcc-2.95.2. The only problem I have now is the man pages. I still can't
read them using Solaris nroff, and when I tried to build with
--with-catman=cat, I got the following during a make install:
/rtr/bin/install -c -m 644 ssh.[01].out /usr/local/man/cat1/ssh.1
Try `/rtr/bin/install --help' for more

Hello,
the man pages for openssh-2.3.0p1 look bad on our Tru64 Unix V4.0E
systems.
(Secure Shell) is a program for logging into a remote machine and
for executing commands on a remote machine. It is intended to
replace rlogin and rsh, and provide secure encrypted communica-
tions between two untrusted hosts over an insecure network. X11

[2.1.1p4] utmp patch for SunOS 4.1.x
Follow-on to Charles Levert's <charles at comm.polymtl.ca> work on
utmp_write_direct.
Fixed:

The code I added to loginrec.c is restricted to SUNOS4 pending
QA testing on other platforms.

Patch for unformatted manpages
The attached patch (relative to the current CVS snapshot) uses a perl
script to convert the OpenSSH manpages from the BSD -mdoc format to
the -man format used by other systems. This allows the unformatted
manpages to be installed normally, rather than defaulting to
preformatted pages.
I'd like to see this patch integrated into the portable version of
OpenSSH. Please let me know what you

A few more Solaris 7 bugs in 1.2.3pre2
These are all in the port of 1.2.3pre2:
- configure accepts --includedir, but doesn't seem to pass it on to the
Makefile. You have to edit the Makefile manually if you have include files
anywhere but /usr/include. Which is a problem because...
- The Makefile doesn't include /usr/local/include by default, which is where
zlib installs itself by default. Probably oughta be in there.

openssh-2.3.0p1 for Solaris man pages
Hi Team,
I'm looking to "upgrade" my sites ssh installation from
the original. I have built openssh-2.3.0p1 and it looks
good. I am puzzled as to why there are so many source
distributions? However, that is not why am writing - the
man pages provided do not format with either Solaris
'nroff -man' or 'groff -man'. What am I missing here?
Thanks for your help.

make distprep broken?
Hello All,
Doing a make distprep doesn't seem to work anymore:
$ make -f Makefile.in distprep
make: @SH@: Command not found
make: *** [catman-do] Error 127
I've seen this on AIX & Redhat (gnu make) and Solaris (native make). I
suspect this occurs on most platforms. Is this still the recommended way
of autoreconf'ing CVS releases for building?

sftp over 2 hosts?
Hi list,
I tried sftp and it works perfect via a direct connection between 2 hosts. Our situation is that we have to go from our intranet through a firewall gateway to the internet and then to a third server. With "normal" ssh this works via: "ssh -t hosta ssh hostb". It seems to me that this doesn't work with sftp ;-((. Would it be complicate to implement?
Thanks

PATCH: nroff detection wrong, by default uses mantype=cat
Hi,
Just tested the latest snapshot on RHL72 via building RPM's of it.
Nroff detection was wrong, and if no --with-mantype was specified, the
type would always revert to cat. This one-byter fixes it.

ocfs2 and device-mapper
Hello all,
are there any issues concerning ocfs2 (v 1.2.3) and device-mapper-multipath-0.4.5-12.0.RHEL4?
I've build a 4 node cluster with two ocfs2 mounts on /dev/dm-0 and /dev/dm-1. Under heavy load the nodes dies after about two minutes reproducably ;-(( Once I've loaded the ocfs2 modules it seems to me that both modules (device-mapper-multipath related as well as ocfs related) are

openssh kills the stty values?
Hi all,
I found that on some HP-UX 11 machines running openssh-2.3.0p1 the default values for intr in stty don't work. The problem is that stty shows the correct values but they don' work and I cannot det the values to others. Once I connect via telnet or rlogin I can use the intr-sequence.
Any ideas?
Thanks

SCO Openserver Patch
I downloaded the Openssh-2.3.0p1 file and ran configure only to have it
fail reporting the lack of libz. I found that configure was failing
beacuse the test program did not include the libtinfo and libm which are
needed to resolve references in libprot. I made changes to the configure
script to add those libraries for SCO Openserver and then tried to compile
the programs only to run into another

configure --with-catman is supposed to be --with-mantype
There's a typo in configure.in that's specifying --with-catman as an
option but the help message says --with-mantype. Here's a patch.
