Need help with an odd issue I am experiencing

CentOS on Compaq Proliant Rackmount Servers

Easy no problem, easy some issues, or ghastly do not do it under any circumstances... ;) Basically, I'm looking at some used/refurb dual PIII units and will run RAID on Compaq built in SCSI or is it easy to pop in some 3ware SATA in them? Let me know in terms of CentOS 3 and/or 4 please.

[OT] Memory Models and Multi/Virtual-Cores -- WAS: 4.0-> 4.1 update failing
From: Robert Hanson <roberth at abbacomm.net> > or should i be more specific with the question(s)? > the reason i ask is that i just dumped 2 gig dram in a basic > P4 Intel 3.0GHz box to play with. > regards and TIA, At more than 1GiB on Linux/x86, you must use a 4G+4G kernel (this is the default) to see more than 960MiB. This causes a signficant (10%+) performance hit. On

RAID5 - MBR and default grub config on CentOS 4
greetings, i just know i have read several times on this list and in other places that on a RAID5 array that the MBR should be placed on the /boot partition. is this truly correct and if so, why? my experiences of putting the MBR on the /boot partition are contrary to that it will even work and boot that way... comments please? regards, - rh -- Robert Hanson Abba Communications

Hanging @ Sendmail During Boot
Hi All, I have a coupla queries about my 2 latest installs of CentOS 4-3. When I first installed and logged in as the initial user, everything went well, and the system was fast. A reboot, and 2nd login gave the same. But, upon connecting to the net, the system hung at sendmail for almost 4mins, and then gave an error at login about not finding the host, and that Gnome may not work

difference in x86 64 bit centos between 4.x and 5.x versions

What have I done wrong?
Hi, I'm new to both this list and to openssh. I just downloaded 2.9.9 and did ./configure ; make ; make install. Everything was OK, no errors. But I must have done something wrong. Because after I started the sshd daemon, I can only connect with the "root" user. I have done ssh-keygen on other users but they do not work... I'm running Linux. I havent changed any configurations.

Blocking and compression.
Hello. I thought I'd introduce myself. I'm the guy that wrote kexis way back when. For those of you that dont know, kexis was written before flac, and pretty much does what flac does, although its not nearly as nice or robust. I wrote kexis actualy cause I was interested in playing around with lossless compression and shorten was about the only tool that was linux friendly, but had a
