Subject: Password Login Failing...
I am attmepting to install ssh/sshd on my RH6.1 Intel Box. Everything
seems to be working (not quite smooth sailing - I had to resort to
precompiled RPM for OpenSSL). I did however get it "working." I
generated a host key as root and then changed back to joe-user. I

Re: Different printer drivers ...
Greetings,
I've now received private e-mail saying that others have seen this problem,
sent e-mail to this list and received no answers. That ultimately, they
ended up altering their Windows clients to use LPR instead of Samba.
Is this really something that a genuine MS Windows server can handle and
Samba cannot?
Does anybody know when these other drivers stopped working well and what

Non-registry problem: Slow printing
Greetings,
I have a client running samba-3.0.24 with mostly Windows-XP clients.
They can print to some printers (those with drivers provided by Microsoft)
without problem.
They can also print to printers with vendor supplied printer drivers
but they end up waiting up to 30 seconds just to select the printer.
There is a similar wait when adding the printer to the list of printers

Ldap.h missing in samba-3.0.0
I have downloaded samba-3.0.0.tar.bz2 (and samba-latest.tar.gz) and
attempted to run "./configure --with-ldapsam --with-winbind
--with-pam_smbpass --with-smbmount --with-ads --with-ldap"
Only to find that ./configure complains of a missing ldap.h file. Does
anyone else have this issue? I'm trying to do a simple setup to having a
Linux box communicate to my Windows 2000 Server PDC,

Openssh-2.3.0p1 protocol 2 problem
Hi all,
I just implemented (compiled from tarball) Openssh-2.3.0p1 on two different
platform: an HP-UX 11.00 (the client) and a Redhat 6.2 (the server).
On server (Linux RH-6.2) side the following compile options are considered:
# CC="egcs" \
> ./configure \
> --prefix=/opt/openssh \
> --sysconfdir=/etc/opt/openssh \
> --with-tcp-wrappers \
> --with-ipv4-default \

Length of dial string
Hi Dovid
Yes was one of the options but as the required list is dynamic becomes very
messy - and all combinations problem - where as "call all workers job xxx"
is what is needed so the ability to call 20+ numbers is what is needed - agi
does a database search for all jobx workers and constructs a dialstring with
SIP, DAHDI and Local devices.
Can someone tell me where to find maximum

Sharing/splitting bandwidth on a link while bandwidth of the link is variable (or unknown) ?
Hello,
I want to share/split bandwidth on a link with unknown bandwidth. I want to exactly
share/split bandwidth (for example : FTP 30% , HTTP 20% or 30% for a group of PCs and so forth.)
"Traffic-Control-HOWTO" talk that PRIO scheduler is an ideal match for "Handling a link with a variable (or unknown) bandwidth".
But PRIO scheduler can not exactly share/split

Non-root hostname auth problem
All:
I have a problem connecting Openssh 3.0.2p1 on Solaris 8 using hostname
authentication for non-root users. When I connect to the sshd from a
second machine as root it works fine using HostbasedAuthentication, but it
always fails with non-root users.
I suspect that I am having a permissions problem somewhere, but I'll be
damned if I can figure out where.
Any and all help

sftp-server debug output
Help! I am trying to get debug output working with sftp-server, and
can''t seem to find the appropriate information to get it working. Yes,
I have recompiled sftp-server to include defining DEBUG_SFTP_SERVER. I
found that myself in the code before finding it in several postings as
the common answer to others having this problem.
In addition, I have set up the sshd_config file

the following patch to contrib/cygwin/ssh-host-config creates
