Status of SSH 2.0 protocol support?
Just to bring everyone up to date, could we get a report on the status of support for the 2.x protocol? The home page says "next major release" - is that 1.3 or 2.0? And is there any feel for when it'll be generally available? -- John Hardin Internal Systems Administrator Apropos Retail Management Systems, Inc. <johnh at aproposretail.com>

[The is an announcement to the developers list only, please give the new version a try overnight and I will announce it to the wider community tomorrow.] This is to announce the release of openssh-2.1.0, the first stable release of portable OpenSSH to incorporate support for the SSH2 protocol. "ksh: scp: not found"
I upgraded a compiled version of ssh-1.2.27 to a swinstalled depot of OpenSSH_2.5.1p1 on HPUX-11.00. I created links in /usr/local/bin/<ssh program> pointing to /opt/openssh2/bin/<ssh program>. Ssh works. Scp does not. HP support does not support ssh. Below the line you will find the output of a verbose scp command from the server to it self.

OpenSSH with slow login
Hi, I have installed Openssh on a HP-UX 11.00 and I am having a problem. It lasts 5 minutes to login, after I enter my login and password. I try to connect from a Windows machine having a Tera Term SSH client to the HP UX with the OpenSSH server ? Why does it take so long time (5 minutes) to establish a connection from a remote machine to this openssh server ? When I do Telnet to the same

RES: OpenSSH with slow login
I gueess it is not a DNS problem, because either using name or IP, I have always the problem. I guess the problem is that I am using ssh on inetd.conf (sshd -i), so It has to generate a key each time I start a session. Kerberos password auth/expiry kbdint patch
I took Markus Friedl's advice and set up a KbdintDevice for Kerberos password authentication/expiry. It took me a bit to wrap my head around privsep, but I think it's working properly (code stolen shamelessly from FBSD's PAM implementation :->). The hardest part was working out how to get the interaction between krb5_get_init_creds_password() (along with the prompter) to work

Food for thought regarding PAM
I'm new to this list, so please forgive me if this has been discussed before. It appears that one of the (commendable) design goals of OpenSSH is to re-use existing open-source libraries wherever possible in order to simplify the OpenSSH code and hopefully improve security in the process. As exhibited by the current, non-open SSH, supporting all of the nuances of authentication and logins

Duplicate value used in disconnect reason definitons
I could not find anything in the mailing list archive or bug tracker. In ssh2.h, the value (4) is re-used 148 #define SSH2_DISCONNECT_KEY_EXCHANGE_FAILED 3 149 #define SSH2_DISCONNECT_HOST_AUTHENTICATION_FAILED 4 150 #define SSH2_DISCONNECT_RESERVED 4 151 #define SSH2_DISCONNECT_MAC_ERROR 5 Is this intentional? OpenSSH and keystroke timings
Old news, but ... http://lwn.net/Articles/298833/ I first posted about this back in 2001 and it's still not resolved: http://osdir.com/ml/ietf.secsh/2001-09/msg00000.html 1) high latency networks are a reality that will never go away. In fact they will only become more prevalent since distributed networks continue to grow broader but (surprise) the speed of light remains a constant. 2)

combining openSSH and DNSSEC
Hi everybody, in a university project I started building DNSSEC features into the current release of openSSH. The openSSH client I modified now authenticates a server through DNSSEC. I wanted to ask if there are already plans in the openSSH community to integrate DNSSEC features. I really enjoyed working with openSSH and would like to continue my work and contribute it. I am about to set up a

openSSH2.1.0
Hi, I just installed openSSH2.1.0 an a linux system and tried to connect to a server running an SSH2 server. Unfortunately I wasn't able to connect because of a signature error. I am connecting to the host for the first time. Does anybody know, why I have this problem and why I can't connect? Thanks, Stefan Mangard Here is the debug output: [smang at grad1 bin]$ ssh -2 -v

ssh-keygen private keys export - new feature
Hello, I had some difficulties in order to convert private keys between different implementations of SSH. So, I wrote the following patch to allow export of SSH2 RSA and DSA private keys into IETF SECSH format. Note that I also slightly revised the IETF SECSH key import code. Usage: use of the "-e" option on a private key file generates an unencrypted private key file in IETF SECSH

SSH trademarks and the OpenSSH product name
Friends, Sorry to write this to a developer mailing list. I have already approached some OpenSSH/OpenBSD core members on this, including Markus Friedl, Theo de Raadt, and Niels Provos, but they have chosen not to bring the issue up on the mailing list. I am not aware of any other forum where I would reach the OpenSSH developers, so I will post this here. As you know, I have been using the SSH
