VSFTPD passive mode is not working
I have Centos 5.7 64bit; I have installed vsftpd as standalone service and using it for two years now with no problem. Suddenly; only it works with active mode. The passive mode stops working and gives time out. Firewall is disabled and SELinux is set to permissive.
I ran tcpdump and I noticed that only first three packets reached the FTP for passive mode and no more packets on other ports

Vsftpd configuration problem
Greetings,
Beginning today, I started to receive the following when ftp'ing to my
CentOS 6 machine:
ncftp /home/pyz2 > dir
connect failed: No route to host.
connect failed: No route to host.

Falling back to PORT instead of PASV mode.
I can make a connection, but I can't get a directory listing or transfer
data/files.
I'm flummoxed.

Doesn't work. I redirected all my errors to /var/log/messages, so here's
what I get when I try to connect Filezilla to that server.

FirewallD and FTP passive mode
Howdy
I'm trying to run FTP server behind firewall. And i can't enable passive
mode from the Internet. There are plenty howtos but there aren't many
with my combination.
For now i have configured port forwarding and ftp server itself.
On the router:
# firewall-cmd --list-all --zone=external
external (active)
interfaces: enp3s1
sources:
services: openvpn ssh
ports: 1194/tcp

Problem with VSFTP
I have a vsftp server hosted on custom dyndns site. We have a 4mb ADSL
connection. When I tried to download the files from the ftp server with wan
IP address or the dyndns address it downloads some files and disconnects.
Please find below an extract from the log file (ace ftp client). I would
appreciate if someone could guide me, possibly with a solution for this
problem.
Many thanks

FTP Server and IPTables?
I'm having a heck of a time getting vsftpd to work properly. When Iptables are
OFF, it works fine, and when iptables is on, it dies. When I try ftp from a
command line, here's what the session looks looks like:
[root at mylaptop ~]# ftp ftp.server.com
Connected to ftp.server.com.

ftp daemon problem
New install of CentOS 4.1; our first try at the 4.x.
On previous 3.x installs we've used proftpd.
On this one we're using (trying to use is a better statement of what
we're going through) the default daemon, /usr/sbin/vsftpd.
But we don't get anywhere.

Vsftpd vs. iptables firewall script
Hi,
I'm currently setting up a local FTP server, to receive disk images sent
with G4L (Ghost4Linux).
This server has been running Slackware Linux before, and the Vsftpd
setup was relatively simple.
With CentOS things seem to be slightly different, so I'm currently
trying to work things out. For the moment, two things seem to be
creating problems, the simple iptables firewall and

vsftpd: transfer of files fails
I've got a problem with vsftpd on a new CentOS system. Most users can
login and list and everything but when they want to transfer files the
client says "transfer failed" or so. However, it works fine with two
users. Of course, these two have been created by me and used only by me.
So, I didn't detect the problem before other users tried to upload.
I tried with the command

vsftp
I'm having an odd behavior with vsftp on all CentOS 4 servers... maybe 3
too, but I'm not on those much.
I am transferring in port mode as I've never managed to get passive to
work with a firewall running.
Anyway, this is what happens.
During normal transfers with few files.. it works perfectly.
During the transfer of like a large website with hundreds of files in

vsftp passive mode / iptables issue
I've been struggling with my firewall and getting vsftp to work in
passive mode.
It seems that everything on this hosting server works just fine without
the eth0 entry in my iptables except for vsftp in passive. Am I opening
up too much by adding the eth0 line?

ftp and iptables
Hi - I have a ftp server running version 2.0.7 of vsftpd on
a CentSO 5.2 server using iptables behind a Linksys router.
The setup works for UNIX machines on either side of the Linksys
router.
For the Windows machines it only works if they're behind the Linksys
router - ftp does NOT work if they're outside the Linksys router.
I'd like to solve two problems:

Vsftpd problem
Hi all,
I have a filesystem which I need to make available through ftp ( vsftpd ). I
have this as separate filesystem as it needs to be available through apache
and NFS also. It's our local mirror.
I've set up vsftpd and put a test directory in /var/ftp/pub and it works.
However I can't seem to get it to see the separate /mirrors filesystem.
I've tried using symlinks as

I have 1 Centos server V4.x already running VSFTPD and when the user logs in

but is placed in /var/ftp/pub and cannot upload file.

vsftpd failing since upgrade to 4.2
My vsftpd was working. I use it configured via xinetd and turn it off
(disabled = yes) when I'm not using it to keep the bad guys from hammering
on it.
Recently I upgraded to 4.2 (via yum update). That' the only change I know
of on the system. And I didn't have any problems with it.
Today when I try to ftp, i enabled it in xinetd.d (with disable = no and a
