Primary and secondary group issues with Vintela VAS and Samba
I'm wondering if anyone on the Samba mailing list has seen this problem with Vintela VAS and Samba. ---------- The problem I am having is that Vintela VAS knows about the groups in AD but Samba only seems to recognize a user's primary group in AD. So, if I chgrp a file or directory in Solaris to anything other than a user's primary group and share it out via samba, a user is not

cross compilation?
../openssh-3.1p1/configure --host=mips-linux --build=i686-linux --with-pam does not work. It selects the correct toolchain prefix, but the configure script bails on cross-compilation. Attached is a patch that *might* make the right paranoid assumptions, but I am not positive. -- bryan --- configure.ac.orig Tue Feb 26 22:12:35 2002 +++ configure.ac Wed Mar 27 14:28:02 2002 @@ -437,20 +437,6

snprintf, vsnprintf
I'm tracking a compiling issue with 2.2.8a on AIX 5.2-ML01 with IBM C for AIX 6.0 and i'm having an issue with lib/snprintf.c The first thing i noticed is that "includes.h" is not included which is in many other places, but I'm sure there are reaasons. The other thing is there is a check at the beginning for HAVE_SNPRINTF, HAVE_VSNPRINTF and HAVE_C99_VSNPRINTF to include

.spec file for SLES 9
Hello all, I'm gearing up for an RPM deployment of 4.2p1 on SuSE (SLES 9). However, the files under contrib/suse in the OpenSSH distribution appear to be out-of-date. In particular, SuSE seems to handle init scripts quite differently now. So, is anyone building local RPMs for SuSE? If so, could you post the .spec file you are using? Is there any interest in updating the contrib/suse

Using puppet to manage user access to servers.
I''m guessing this is a common use case, but I wasn''t able to find anything in the site FAQ. We''re looking at using Puppet on about 100 servers to control which user groups have access to which servers. The use case is as follows: We have Groups of servers, for example: CUSTOMERservers (serverA, serverB, ...,serverK) ADMINISTRATIVEservers

Weird problems on solaris 7 & 8
I'm seeing some extremely odd behavior with solaris. I have a suspicion it's me, but here's the story and maybe someone can suggest an avenue of investigation. This seems to be happening with any release of openssh since at least 2.5.2p1. 1) Problem #1: If SSH protocol 1 is enabled then sshd segfaults right off. This turns out to be because the call to arc4random_stir is

[2.2.0p1] patch: generic detection of correct getpgrp() invocation
Hi. Several OSes have a getpgrp() function that takes an argument, unlike what POSIX mandates. NeXT was covered, but SunOS wasn't. This provides a generic solution through autoconf. Samba and Windows shares
Good evening- I am a systems engineer with BAE Systems and am looking to solve a Single Sign-On and file access issue using Vintela Authentication Services (VAS) and Samba. This is to be accomplished on Solaris 9 (0904) workstations and function within an Active Directory environment (e.g. Windows Server 2003). VAS is currently advertising that the capability exists to integrate Samba with Active

Windows client and kerberos without ADS
Hello all, I am doing some tests for an SSO for our Windows workstations using Kerberos without ADS. So far, Windows client can obtain the ticket from the Heimdal KDC and it's possible to login to SSH servers using Vintela Putty. I am now trying to use the Kerberos credentials to access Samba shares. I can mount the shares using my Kerberos tickets from a Linux and I see the service ticket
