Rails 1.1 and Ruby 1.8.3
I''ve seen that Rails 1.1 is not reliable with Ruby 1.8.2 so you should upgrade to 1.8.4 I''m running ruby 1.8.3. What''s the story with it? Do I need to upgrade before I try Rails 1.1? Thanks Greg -- Greg Freemyer The Norcross Group Forensics for the 21st Century

CPAN module install problem
I could use some assistance getting CPAN functional again. CPAN stopped working on Centos 4.2 x64, and I can no longer install modules. I did a install Bundle::CPAN and upgraded to 1.8.2, and perl was updated afterwards via yum update. The error seems related to GPG, does anyone know if 1.8.2 added new restrictions on signatures? $ sudo perl -MCPAN -e shell cpan shell -- CPAN exploration

reboot after dom0 linux boot up
If I (for example) pass a wrong "root=" option to a dom0-linux kernel, it panics. so far, mkay a linux way. Now, different from other panics, there is a counter (of one second!) and then it reboots. I needed to make it panic three times till I could read the error message. Why has that been done this way? _______________________________________________ Xen-users mailing list

Migrating rails 1.0 app to 1.1 - Noob question
Hi all, I''ve upgraded my system to Rails 1.1.1 successfully. After much looking I haven''t found out how to migrate an existing application to a new rails version though. What is the procedure, if any, for upgrading the application I''ve developed in 1.0? Is there a script I need to run? -- Posted via http://www.ruby-forum.com/.

Bus error in ./script/console with postgres (ext. library)
Is there some special magic that needs to be performed so that the C-based postgres extension library works with the Rails console? I have installed the postgres extension library (replacing the pure Ruby version: postgres-pr) from <http://ruby.scripting.ca/postgres/> Everything works great from WEBrick, but as soon as I fire up the console and try to use it, I get a bus error:

Install rubygems error
I made the mistake of trying to upgrade to 1.8.4 from 1.8.2 and had intended to upgrade to rails 1.1. I have now completely borked my ruby gems installation. After installing ruby I get the following error when trying to execute gem: /usr/local/lib/ruby/site_ruby/1.8/rubygems/custom_require.rb:21:in `require__'': no such file to load -- zlib (LoadError) from

wxRuby build problems
I''ve just tried to build wxRuby on a debian/unstable (i386) platform. I went to rubyforge.org and downloaded wxruby-0.5-src.tar.gz. <http://rubyforge.org/frs/download.php/1254/wxruby-0.5-src.tar.gz> I have ruby 1.8.2 installed on my system. I needed to install the debian package ruby1.8-dev in order to get mkmf.rb. That solved my first problem. So then i ran "ruby

Ruby 1.8.2 or 1.8.4?
I'm wanting to run Ruby on Rails and I want to do it the cleanest way possible. I don't mind using the rubygems package management for the Rails related dependencies. But Ruby itself, to my knowledge, cannot be installed as a gem. CentOS 4.3 uses Ruby 1.8.1. Rails requires 1.8.2 or 1.8.4. Neither Dag nor CentOSPlus have a later version for RHEL. What's my best bet? An SRPM

I have done some reading and gather than wine-pthread was dropped somewhere around 1.1.19. Problem I have is that I have an application (newsleecher) which effectively never starts up (gave it 10 minutes at one point, used 100% cpu the whole time) with strait wine command on the older wine version, I think 1.0.something, came with ubuntu 8.04 in one of the unsupported repositories. It starts up
