Does anyone know if I can use traceroute on a vpn connection to
see if everything on my end is working ok?
I ran ipsec eroute and it shows the tunnel is up and passing

OpenSwan Drop Out Issue
Hello,
I'm cross posting this from the OpenSwan mailing list, in case someone here
can help.
We have two sites connected via OpenSwan 2.6.32-9 on CentOS 5, sharing 6
/24 subnets each (so 12 in total).
The problem we're having is completely randomly, be it in the middle of the
day, or in the middle of the night (so I don't believe it's traffic
related), certain (and sometimes

pptp, ipsec and vpn
Hi All,
This is a general VPN question;
PPTP VPNs seem to be very easy to set up with CentOS as the VPN server
and the built-in windose client, but how do list members feel about the
security vunerabilities reported with the MS implementation?
Specifically the 6 problems reported here :
http://www.schneier.com/pptp-faq.html
or maybe im being paranoid?
Would any of you roll this solution out

yum updates
Hey all...just curious if anyone has ever run into any trouble using yum for updates..
anything at all? just curious.
I use it all the time...finds the dependencies and never had any real issues.
just curious how you would downgrade a package though if that option is even at all available or not.

4 questions about tinc's VPN
Hi there!
I'm totally new to the concept 'self-made VPNs' :P
I've discovered tinc and I think it's not as easy as hamachi, but not so
hard as OpenVPN :D
Now: I've got 4 questions:
question n.1: I'm behind a router. This router is configurable, but I'm
also behind a provider's NAT (private IPs with a common public IP). Will
tinc work, or it will do as

Response time on Tinc VPNs, Bandwith on Tinc-VPN
Hello,
response time: how is it possible to increase the response time on Tinc VPNs. When I use tinc over a fast or giga-bit network connection the ping-response time is normally about 1800 to 2000 ms. Sometimes I get ping response times at about 2.500 to 3.000 ms over a normal Ethernet Connection or a television-cable connection within the same providers-network in the same city. The ping-time

Tor has many, many problematic behaviors relevant to congestion control
in general. Let me paste a bit of private discussion I'd had on it in a second,
but a very good paper that touched upon it all was:
