How file store when using Btrfs on multi-devices? What happen when a device fail?
Hi, i have some questions when using Btrfs on multi-devices: 1. a large file will always be stored wholely on a device or it may spread on some devices/partitions? Btrfs has option to specify it explicitly? 2. suppose i have a directory tree like that: Dir_1  |--> file_1A  |--> file_1B  |--> Dir_2          |--> file_2C          |--> file_2D If Dir_2, file_2C  on a failed device,

Loggin of authorized keys
This is a follow-up on a thread from last year requesting that openssh indicate which authorized key was accepted during a login as opposed to just logging that a key was accepted... Here's the old message: It is possible for ~user/.ssh/authorized_keys to have multiple entries. It would be quite helpful if openssh would enhance the log to indicate WHICH key was

remote command word splitting
Hello, I have a suggestion about the way ssh does word splitting on commands which have been passed to it for remote execution. It appears that what is currently done is, if there are extra arguments on the ssh command line for a remote command, (1) split each of these arguments into a list (2) concatenate the resulting lists to get the command arguments. So we get behavior like $ perl -le

Win98 and Samba
Has any tried to connect to a samba server while using Win98 beta 2 as a client? I keep getting incorrect username/password errors in the samba log file and am unable to either map a drive or connect to a shared resource. With debug level set to 4 on the samba serve the main error seems to be error in packet at line 129 for cmd=117 (or something like that). If anyone else finds a fix for this,

Multiple Linux users, and wine?
Hey guys, I've got two Linux user accounts: foo and bar. AFAIK, both have identical .wine directories, that both point to the same fake dos drive. User 'foo' is able to run Quicken in wine, but user 'bar' is not. (I don't recall the exact error, but it was pretty non-descript.) Does Wine support this kind of thing? My ultimate goal is that, regardless of whether user

Possible bug: Putty's psftp doesn't work when priv-sep is turned on
Hi List(s) A customer of mine reported that sftp didn't work for them. It seems to work just fine for me on that system, and after checking into it I noticed that the customer used psftp, while I use sftp from either cygwin or the linux version from openssh. The openssh version of sftp works in all cases, priv-sep on or off. However, the putty psftp breaks as soon as I turn on priv-sep

Help with fonts
I recently changed to a new computer and reinstalled linux. I'm not happy with the current fonts and I see that the whole fonts area has been revamped, so any old notes I have are obsolete. Can anyone help me out? The first and major issue is that when an installation program I am running tries to display "C:\Program Files" it comes out looking like CWProgram Files. Having

Installing wine rpm - failed dependencies??
I am running SuSE 8.0 (waiting for 9.2). I have a windows application I wanted to run using wine. It ran fairly well then locked up on the old wine release that came with SuSE 8.0. Thought I should get the latest wine so downloaded the current wine for Suse 8.0 from winehq.com. I first ran Yast and removed the presently installed wine. I put the new rpm in /root and logged in as root then
