Problem with .hushlogin in Tru64 UNIX 4.0e
I have tried this with openssh-2.5.2p2 and openssh-SNAP-20010501.
I have noticed that with a .hushlogin file in my home directory I still
get messages.
With the .hushlogin file I get these messages:
Last successful login for ricardo: Tue May 1 08:06:00 2001 from
blah.mnsu.edu
Last unsuccessful login for ricardo: Tue May 1 08:05:21 2001 from

Without the .hushlogin file I get

OpenSSH 3.9p1 bug, .hushlogin is ignored
Hello Darren! Hello OpenSSH (portable) users!
After updating from OpenSSH 3.8.1p1 to OpenSSH 3.9p1 on my
Fedora Core 2 Linux box, the "sshd" no longer respects
"~/.hushlogin" to get a quiet and silent login. Now I get
the noisy "Last login: somedate from somehost" line.
I really loved that feature. ;-)
The problem is related to a change in "session.c",

Fixed patch for Digital Unix SIA
Okay, here is a fixed version of the patch I sent before for fixing the
problems I know about with Digital Unix SIA: displaying too much info
(MOTD, last login, etc.) when access is denied, and the loss of the
error message sometimes when access is denied.
It does break some code out of do_login into a couple of separate
functions. I did this to avoid duplicating the code in a couple of
places.

[PATCH] PAM chauthtok + Privsep
Hello All.
Attached is an update to my previous patch to make do_pam_chauthtok and
privsep play nicely together.
First, a question: does anybody care about these or the password
expiration patches?
Anyway, the "PRIVSEP(do_pam_hauthtok())" has been moved to just after
the pty has been allocated but before it's made the controlling tty.
This allows the child running chauthtok to

Where to implement user limit settings ?
Hello,
I'm trying to implement setting of user limits (ulimit) in sshd. I'm
not using PAM so I need it in the sshd itself. The task is very simple -
just to put one line calling setup_limits(pw); and link with -lshadow.
But the problem is, where to put this line. I did it in session.c,
in do_child(), like this:
#ifdef HAVE_OSF_SIA
session_setup_sia(pw, s->ttyfd == -1 ? NULL

Openwindows run on remote machine on OpenSSH_3.9p1 solaris 5.8
Hi,
I've had some strange recent behaviour from ssh (OpenSSH_3.9p1 Solaris 5.8).
I have an application that runs a script that run a remote command over ssh, however rather than running the command ssh tried to run openwindows (an xsession app, i think). Every time the application ran the command the same issue would occur, until the application was restarted. The command it should have been

Problems with RhostRSAAuthecntication and UsePrivilegeSeparation (RH9, 2.4.20-42.9.legacybigmem)
Hi,
for some days now I am/was fighting with an annoying problem. I have
to support an environment where RhostRSAAuthecntication via
/etc/ssh/sshd_known_hosts is used for password-less login.
This works fine with RH7.3 (and RH8) and openssh versions
openssh-3.1p1-3 (and openssh-3.4p1-2).
Our customer has now requested an upgrade to RH9. That comes with
openssh-3.5p-11 and the password-less

OpenSSH multiple private key question
I am using CentOS 4.5 with OpenSSH_3.9p1 and I am curious if anyone
has a solution for this scenario. I have several pub/priv keys that I
use for various tasks/reasons. My issue is that I want to have 2
private keys stored in ~/.ssh/ and I am not sure the best way to
accomplish that. Currently I am using ssh-agent, and it works fine
for manually performing tasks. I was curious if there

[PATCH #9] Password expiration via /bin/passwd.
This is an attempt to simplify the AIX expiry-via-passwd stuff and make
it more generic. (There's actually a net reduction in #ifdefs).
Patch against CVS:
1) configure finds passwd.
2) sshd uses passwd during session if required.
3) sshd uses passwd for PAM change if privsep disabled.
4) sshd uses Buffers for expire and post-login messages (no longer AIX
specific).
5) password_change_required
