[Bug 245] SSH can not log out under Solaris 2.6
http://bugzilla.mindrot.org/show_bug.cgi?id=245
------- Additional Comments From dtucker at zip.com.au 2002-12-14 00:36 -------
Did some digging on this. Carson seems to be correct in that the problem is due
to missing controlling terminal.
I uncommented the setsid() in sshd.c and added some debugging log() calls to
sshd, which generated the following:
sshd[21690]: main: before setsid

Problem with -current on Solaris 8 + PAM?
Hi All.
Has anyone else tried the current tree on Solaris 8? I installed a
recommended patch cluster and now I get PAM errors, but only on a
non-interactive (ie no TTY) login. I think this behaviour was introduced
with the patch cluster.
First thing is that in debug mode, the debug at auth-pam.c:534 derefs tty
which is null, and segfaults. This occurs in debug mode only and is easy
to fix.

auth-pam.c support for pam_chauthtok()
When we installed OpenSSH 2.1.1p4 on our Solaris systems, our users
noticed that it did not honor password expiration consistently with
other Solaris login services.
The patch below is against OpenSSH 2.2.0p1 and adds support for PAM
password changes on expiration via pam_chauthtok(). A brief summary of
changes:
auth-pam.c:
* change declaration of pamh to "static pam_handle_t *pamh",

Regarding PAM_TTY_KLUDGE and Solaris 8...
>Okay, this appears to be a problem with pam_unix.so - the code in
>pam_sm_open_session is written with the assumption that the tty name is of
>the form "/dev/" + something else on the end. I'm not sure why the
pam_sm_open_session in pam_unix on Solaris now does this:
/* report error if ttyn or rhost are not set */
if ((ttyn == NULL) || (rhost == NULL))

PAM problem - sshd segfault on Solaris
I'm using OpenSSH-2.9.9p2 on Solaris 8 sparc64. 2.9p2 worked fine, but
2.9.9p2+ is giving me trouble with one thing - sshd segfaults if I try to
connect and execute a command, such as "ssh machine ls". Otherwise it
works great. sshd will fork, and the child process segfaults.
CVS snapshot does the same thing.
I've narrowed this down somewhat. It will only happen if you use
