samba AD problem after re-join domain
I've been working on a Samba AD setup with a bunch of test machines - the one DC, and a bunch of clients.? Last night, I ended up switching the name of the test machines temporarily (except the DC), and re-joining the domain (that's for another e-mail later).? When things didn't work the way I had planned,? I switched the hostnames back, and re-joined the domain today on all the

First use of cd ~user fails on systems using winbind
Hi. I'm running the latest Samba 4.18 on our dc (Linux - Rocky 8.8), and the clients are running the latest 4.17 (Linux - Rocky 8.8) to be upgraded to 4.18 soon. I've noticed an issue for awhile that is really quite strange and wonder if anyone has any thoughts on this. Samba/Kerberos auth has been setup and working for quite a long time, and I don't think the configuration of

I'm experimenting with smb + winbind. My host is joined to AD and I can login to my host fine using my AD credentials via SSH.?? The only issue is that I don't get a Kerberos ticket generated. In /etc/security/pam_winbind.conf I have: krb5_auth = yes krb5_ccache_type = KEYRING In /etc/krb5.conf, I also have: default_ccache_name = KEYRING:persistent:%{uid} Using wbinfo -K jas, then

scaling data for microarray
Hello All, I am new to R and want to use R to scale my data before analysis. I need to do two fold scaling: a). scale on a per object (chip) basis, scale to a mean of 0 and stddev to 1; b). scale on a per feature basis: scale data linearly to the interval [0,1]. Could somebody help me with this? Thanks a lot, Jas __________________________________

Trying to upgrade from R 2.7.1
[Running debian stable] I followed the instructions at http://cran.r-project.org/bin/linux/debian, adding deb http://cran.R-project.org/bin/linux/debian lenny-cran/ to /etc/apt/sources.list. But apt-get still leaves me with R 2.7.1. How can I diagnose what's wrong or correct this? euclid: /etc/apt # apt-get update Hit http://debian.yorku.ca stable Release.gpg Ign http://debian.yorku.ca

samba 3.5.6 as PDC & LDAP - roaming profile problem
Hi all; for few weeks I'm trying to implement a new samba PDC server for my school. It is based on debian squeeze and samba 3.5.6 with lDAP backend. I was able to join a computer into domain, LDAP is working, mapping home drive for users also. It seems that almost all works good but with one exeption. The one thing which is broken is roaming profile support. When user is logging into domain

Restrict account to only use sftp not working
Hi all, I'm setting up a system where users will only be able to use "sftp" but not "ssh" to connect to the server (http://www.snailbook.com/faq/restricted-scp.auto.html). Here's the setup... Server: OpenSSH 2.5.2p2-1 on RH Linux Client: Commercial SSH 2.4 on Solaris The vendor on the client system creates a key pair and sends it to me. I then add the vendor's

POP3 getting previously delivered messages.
Hi All, This is my first post to this list. I have recently upgraded to dovecot version 2.2.10. 1. I have one POP3 user who does not want to delete his email on the server. 2. He has accumulated over 19000 messages, and the 'dovecot.uidlist' file has more than 19000 lines! 3. Occasionally now when he has received one or more new emails, and his email client does a

apt-get update: GPG error from cran.R-project.org
I recently was forced to do a dist-upgrade and rebuild my kernel, so a lot has changed on my system, and I don't know if that is related to the errors & warnings I get from apt-get update. I have two series of events over time and I want to construct a graph of the relative frequency/density of these events that allows their distributions to be sensibly compared. The events are the milestones items in my project on milestones in the history of data visualization [1], and I want to compare trends in Europe vs. North America. I decided to use a graph of two overlaid density

question about rsync batch operation
Hi. I have a question about the use of the rsync batch capability with --read-batch and --write-batch/--only-write-batch. On my rsync server, where I am running rsync in daemon mode, I make a tree available to my client. The client has rsynced the entire tree from the server. So far, so good... Now, it's the next day, and the copy on the server has changed. On the client, I want to use

read.*: How to read from a URL?
The question is how to use a URL in place of a file= argument for read.*.functions that do not support this internally. e.g., utils::read.table() and her family all support a file= argument that can take a URL equally well as a local file. So, if I have a file on the web, I can equally well do > langren <- read.csv("langrens.csv", header=TRUE) > langren <-

uid/gid settings in rsyncd.conf not respected?
Hi All, I must not understand the uid/gid line in rsyncd.conf. If someone could briefly point out where I've gone wrong, I'd appreciate it. I've created a special user to backup a server which has some users who don't want all their files backed up, so I'm trying to address their concerns by using the uid= and gid= lines in rsyncd.conf to have the rsyncd run with
