buildpkg on solaris 8 OK BUT?..
Hello all,
I was finally able to create the OpenSSH package for Solaris 8 10/01.
The problem I have now is that I will still need to have entropy ready
prior to openssh-3.1p1 package installation. Otherwise there is no entropy
pool available (with the new servers) and key generation fails.
With the previous versions of openssh, I used SUN's
"makeOpenSSHPackage.ksh" script and was

OpenSSH 2.9.9p2 on Solaris 8 buffer_get problem
Hi there,
I have a weird problem with OpenSSH 2.9.9p2 on Solaris 8. Whenever I try
to use ssh, scp or sftp to connect to the Solaris box, the connection is
closed by the server and the following msg logged thru syslog:
"sshd[542]: fatal: buffer_get: trying to get more bytes 129 than in
buffer 39"
I tried from an RH 7.1 client (2.9.9p2), from a Solaris 8 client
(2.9.9p2), and an OpenBSD

cross-compiling + expm1
Hello all,
Just joined this mailing list -- not sure if this is the right list to
send this question, but I have a question about cross-compiling R. I am
working with R-1.9.1.tgz.
It may just be with my version of mingw32, but it seems that expm1 is
not defined, so I tried to ensure that HAVE_EXPM1 was #undef'ed before
cross-compiling. The problem is that, in <include/Rmath.h> if

SSH 3.2.2 on Solaris 8 with /kernel/drv/random
Hi,
I'm like to try a get the new release to work with Sun's new device,
that can be installed with patch 112438-01.
I compiled SSL attempting to point it at the random device:
cd openssl-0.9.6d
./Configure solaris-sparcv7-gcc
make DEVRANDOM="/kernel/drv/random"
And then ran the SSH configure:
./configure --prefix=/opt/OBSDssh --with-pam --without-rsh \
--sysconfdir=/etc/ssh

sp_expire is 0 in QNX Neutrino
QNX Neutrino does not support the shadow
password database properly. Apart from
misdocumenting /etc/shadow as having 4
fields when in fact it has 5 (including
the "last changed" field), its getspnam()
fills in the sp_expire field of the spwd
structure with 0. And since by default,
shadow support is enabled and the
configure script turns on HAS_SHADOW_EXPIRE
when it finds that field,

Test for locked account in auth.c (bug #442).
Hi Damien,
I noticed you merged a couple of ifdefs in the fix for bug #442. The
cvs comment says "Fix Bug #442 for PAM case". The code is now roughly:
#if !defined(USE_PAM) && defined(HAVE_SHADOW_H) && \
!defined(DISABLE_SHADOW) && defined(HAS_SHADOW_EXPIRE)
spw = getspnam(pw->pw_name);
passwd = spw->sp_pwdp;

Hey,

OpenSSH 3.7.1p2 AIX loginsuccess() issue
On AIX 4.3.3 and AIX 5.1, the last successful and unsuccessful logins are
no longer printer prior to the motd with either the stock openssh-3.7.1p2
or Darren's openssh-3.7.1p2-pwexp24.patch. In both cases it appears that
the loginsuccess() call (auth-passwd.c stock or auth.c Darren's patch) is
returning -1 and msg is not appended to loginmsg. /etc/security/lastlog

Does it make sense to keep this code, then? Nobody managed to fix this
when it was timely, and now PPC (at least PPC for desktop use) is a
legacy platform.

And not so useful for the rest 0.001%.

[PATCH] Getting AFS tokens from a GSSAPI-delegated TGT
Here is a patch I just wrote and tested which may be of interest to
those who wish to use KerberosGetAFSToken (currently requires Heimdal
libkafs) in combination with GSSAPIDelegateCredentials. The patch is
in the public domain and comes with no warranty whatsoever. Applies
to pristine 3.8p1. Works for me on Solaris and Tru64.
I'd probably have used Doug Engert's patch from 2004-01-30 if

Password-Authentication with openssh-3.1p1 fails
Hallo out there,
I've got a strange problem after updating my openssh-installation
from 2.9.9p2 (SuSE-package) to openssh-3.1p1 (Installation from the
source with a modified src.rpm). I will give you as much information
as possible and I hope there is anybody who can help me. I asked in
detail in usenet-groups but nobody had any idea to fix my problem by
configuration.

[PATCH] AIX password expiration
Hi All.
With one eye on the do_pam_chauthtok() stuff I've merged contributions
by Pablo Sor and Mark Pitt into a patch against -current. I'm
interested in testers and suggestions for improvements.
The patch extends the loginrestrictions test to include expired
accounts (but unlike Mark's patch, doesn't log accounts with expired
passwords unless they're locked) and adds
