LVM problem after adding new (md) PV
Hello, I have a weird problem after adding new PV do LMV volume group. It seems the error comes out only during boot time. Please read the story. I have couple of 1U machines. They all have two, four or more Fujitsu-Siemens SAS 2,5" disks, which are bounded in Raid1 pairs with Linux mdadm. First pair of disks has always two arrays (md0, md1). Small md0 is used for booting and the rest - md1

Dom0 lvm/software raid rhel4.1 booting issues.
Basically the issue comes down to my Volume Groups not being found by this initrd, causing good ole kernel panic. initrd-2.6.12.6-xen3_12.1_rhel4.1.img [root@xen01 lvm]# uname -a Linux xen01.inside.***.com 2.6.9-22.0.2.ELsmp #1 SMP Thu Jan 5 17:13:01 EST 2006 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux [root@xen01 lvm]# cat /etc/redhat-release Red Hat Enterprise Linux ES release 4 (Nahant Update 2) Everything

Big devices and missing space
Hello, I have a Promise EX 12-port RAID controller in my box, connected to 8 750GB disks. I have set up 2 RAID-5 devices and joined these using LVM. This is working fine. However, there is something that seems wrong.. (4-1) * 750 = 2250, but df reports the LVM volume as a mere 4.0T; /dev/mapper/storage_volume-stor 4.0T 3.6T 507G 88% /storage Shouldn't this be 4.5TB? Installation problems on old IBM server
I'm trying to install CentOS 4.2 on an old IBM x300 server, but it hangs during the boot from cd. The last entries I can see before it dies are the two "agpgart" lines. I've been playing around with bios settings (video settings and serial settings since the serial driver is the next thing going on in the kernel) and boot params (noapic, acpi=off etc) but I just can't

hw question: asus dsbf-de sata ports?
Hello List, I'm hoping someone else out there has an Asus DSBF-DE server board, and can tell me if anything special needs to be done to get ports 5 and 6 of the onboard SATA to work under Centos 5.1 x64. I have drives on 1 through 4 that are detected and working properly, however, a drive on 5 is not detected, from what i can tell, the kernel doesn't even see phy's for ports 5 and 6.

sdc1 without the sdc
So I'm working with the iSCSI Initiator and an EqualLogic SAN. I'm not sure when this might have happened, but it appears that the /dev/sdc device is missing, yet the /dev/sdc1 partition exists AND is mountable. Is there a method to re-create the /dev/sdc device? I cannot dd or fdisk it, obviously, but I can mount the /dev/sdc1 partition and it works just fine. Not having the /dev/sdc

LSI MegaRAID system status
Dear list, I have inherited a CentOS-5 box with a LSI Sata Raid controller. It is configured as a RAID5 w/hot-standby. My concern is that I have no present means of determining the RAID status w/o downing the system and going into the bios to get status. If a disk has failed and brought the standby disk online, I would like to know about it, the day it happens by seeing it in syslog or getting

SCSI Target issues since 5.6 upgrade
I upgraded my storage server this morning from 5.5 to 5.6 and have quite a few issues with servers attaching to the iSCSI target... 1) Prior to the upgrade, I had our initiators configured with a username and password with CHAP and after the reboot I began having issues mounting their LUN. Looking through the logs I see: CHAP initiator auth.: authentication of

I have a USB Buffalo Drivestation Quattro, with 4 1TB disks configured in raid5 as one 2.8TB (or so) disk, attached to a Cent 5.4 64 bit server (completely yum'd up to date) The disk is labeled as GPT, and formatted as a 2.8 TB ext3 partition (this issue also

Multi-Card reader (SD, MMC, etc) and CONFIG_SCSI_MULTI_LUN kernel option in 34.0.2. Workaround
Hi folks, Im trying to get a multi-card reader on centos (SD, MMC, and so, 4 card slots) and i have read (http://www.cs.sfu.ca/~ggbaker/personal/cf-linux) that CONFIG_SCSI_MULTI_LUN should be enabled on kernel (=Y) but current 34.0.2 doesn't have it enabled by default, is there any particular reason to not be enabled? By the other hand i've also tweak the /etc/grub.conf file to boot the

Centos 5 card reader automount
To this point, whenever I've plugged a storage device (flash drive, mp3 player) into a USB plug, it's magically mounted and I get an icon on my desktop. I've just got a card reader and it doesn't automount. I can mount it manually with "mount /dev/sdb1 /mnt/temp" and that works fine. I would prefer to have it automount and give me the desktop icon. Unfortunately, I

CentOS 5 + Nforce 4 SLI Intel SATA problems
I've been having an extremely hard time using the on board SATA controller on my nvidia based board. I have two 160gig Maxtor SATA drives attached to the on board controller, setup as software raid0. The problem is the array is extremely unreliable, where I'm getting constant I/O errors like: sd 0:0:0:0: SCSI error: return code = 0x00040000 end_request: I/O error, dev sda, sector

Assuming write caching from CentOS 4.4 to iSCSI device
Hi list, CentOS 4.4 connecting to Promise M500i iSCSI disk array. 2/4 servers connect fine with iscsi-initiator-utils-4.0.3.0-4.
