close but no cigar
Hi Everyone: It turns out that there's still a small ( I hope ) problem. I'm close but that only counts in horse shoes and hand grenades. Here's my problem: When trying to load a package that I am writing, the load is looking for the packageDescription function in the utils package but not finding the utils package. I looked on cran and utils is not there which makes me think that it

r-2.13 fails make check
I am only reporting this because it is the current release branch and not devel. R-2.13 from svn revision 55957 builds fine, but fails make check. This happened with a fresh svn checkout 12 hours ago and it still happens as of now. Two days ago I could build R-2.13 and it passed make check on the same system, so I doubt it is a system problem. But just in case my system details are a fresh

Fresh build from source of R-3.2.5 failing "make check" under 64-bit Ubuntu
Hi, Let me justify building R from source. While I can obtain R built for me under Ubuntu, I tend to build it from scratch as we use a NFS-shared build as well as shared R libraries for all the bioinfo staff at this company. Only one build and one set of packages to ensure uniformity across all workstations. My problem is that despite using a pretty standard build process, I am failing at the

failure of make check-all
This run was done this AM on my linux box, and older 32 bit Dell optiplex (core 2 duo). The failure message is at the very end. (It's due to be replaced in a couple of weeks.) The sequence of steps was svn up tools/rsync-recommended ./configure make make check-all |& tee zzz Terry T. Result of ./config R is now configured for i686-pc-linux-gnu Source directory: .

httpuv not installing on fedora 19
No, that's not it. The error is that you don't have the g++ binary installed. Undo that change and yum install gcc-c++. httpuv not installing on fedora 19
Hi: I'm on fedora 19 ( I know. I'm behind : ) and I'm trying to install the httpuv library which depends on Rcpp. When I try to install it with dependencies = TRUE, I get the following error. ( I'm only showing the end of the install messages. Things go okay for a good while ). INSTALLATION MESSAGES #================================================================ make[1]:

installing tkrplot
Hi All: At the bottom of this email is my sessionInfo and below that there is a command that shows that tcltk is installed and working. My problem is that, when trying to install tkrplot, I get the following error: R CMD INSTALL -l . tkrplot_0.0-24.tar.gz * installing *source* package 'tkrplot' ... ** package 'tkrplot' successfully unpacked and MD5 sums checked configure:

FW: Re: linux batch question
Hi Phil: That's EXACTLY what it is. Thanks so much. It's nice to know that the R Gods don't hate me. I hope it's okay that I'm going to cc r-help in case this thread comes up in the future and also so that other people who might want to help know that it's solved. Thanks again. problems with package tutorial
Hi: Here's my revised attempt at explaining my problem. Hopefully it won't get sent out weirdly like it did earlier. ? The link to what I'm trying to follow is http://www.stat.columbia.edu/~gelman/stuff_for_blog/AlanRPackageTutorial.pdf ? I've been going through the tutorial but when I got to page 9 and did R CMD SHLIB Xdemo.cc Xdemo_main.cc -o Xdemo.dll I got

basic sweave question
I am trying to learn the basics of Sweave so I read some things and a friend gave me his Rnw file to play with. I am able to do R CMD Sweave mark-example.Rnw. That works. But, then when I do latex mark-example.tex, I get the message below. I looked in the archives and Martin Morgan mentioned something in 2004 in terms of making sure that latex is looking at where Sweave.sty is but I am unsure

R CMD check not reading R_LIBS from ~/.R/check.Renviron
Dear List, Further to my earlier email, I note that, for me at least, R CMD check is *not* reading R_LIBS from ~/.R/check.Renviron on R 2.15.2 patched (r61228) and R Under Development (r61660). The only way I can get R CMD check to look for packages in a user-supplied library is by explicitly exporting R_LIBS set to the relevant directory. R CMD build *does* read R_LIBS from ~/.R/build.Renviron

semi-transparency not supported in devel R? "alpha" cannot be specified in qplot()
Hi dear all, In my laptop(ubuntu 11.10 64bit), I maintained a released R (2.14) and a developmental R, I can specify qplot(..., alpha = ) in R 2.14 , but when I try to use transparency in developmental R, I got a warning message and the plot is clearly not I want. minimal example: > qplot(data = mtcars, x = mpg, y = cyl, alpha = cyl) Warning message: In grid.Call.graphics(L_points, x$x, x$y,

difference in behavior between batch and source
Hi : I am using R 2.20 on windows XP and I have a REALLY long read.table statement because the col.names argument has 440 character strings in it. ( I use python to write R code ). When I run the read.table statement inside an R program ( the R program only consists of the read.table statement ) using the source command in an interactive R session, everything works fine. But, if I take the same
