R2winbugs : vectorization
I'm new to bugs, so please bear with me. Can someone tell me if the
following two models are doing the same thing? The reason I ask is
that with the same data, the first (based on 4 separate coeffs
a1--a4) takes about 50 secs, while the second (based on a vectorized
form, a[]) takes about 300. The means are about the same, though
R-hat's in the second version are quite a bit better.

Test if data uniformly distributed (newbie)
Hello,
I have a bunch of files containing 300 data points each with values from 0
to 1 which also sum to 1 (I don't think the last element is relevant
though). In addition, each data point is annotated as an "a" or a "b".
I would like to know in which files (if any) the data is uniformly
distributed.
I used Google and found out that a Kolmogorov-Smirnov or a Chi-square

R2WinBUGS problem
Dear friends - I'm on winXP, R 2.71 - I have with some help dveloped
this multivariate normal model, which gives very plausible results in
WinBUGS even without any
initial values specified. However, when I then try to run the same model
via the bugs function in R2WinBUGS with inits specified as inits=NULL
the program stops in a dead end. So I have tried to make inits for the
bugs function

p-value
Dear R User,
say I have this sample of data ( attach with). What i'm going to do is to test whether this data is uniformly distributed or not by finding the p-value. I've tried using the punif command but it gave me the value of 1 of all the data. Any suggestion on R command to find the p-value??Thanks in advance!!
Cheers,
Anisah

fixing shuffle in ogg123
Hi,
There is a bug in the shuffle of ogg123 which was here at least until the
CVS version of 3 days ago. Here's our fix: (it seems to be not perfectly
equiprobable but at least fixes the old one which sometimes gives two
times the same song and never the other song)

BRugs dwwinn.exe error
Hi,
I have a strange behaviour of openBUGS and WinBUGS when I start them
from R.
Version:
R: 2.10.1
openBUGS: 3.07
WinBUGS: 1.43
R2WinBUGS: 2.1-16
BRugs: 0.5-3
I have a model and data without initial start values. If I use the stand
alone versions of openBUGS and WinBUGS I don't have any problems and I
get what I want.
If I use function bugs() from R2WinBUGS- resp. BRugs-Library then

R-beta: Compile error; R-0.60.1, Solaris 2.6, gcc 2.7.2.1
Hi!
I have just downloaded the R-0.60.1 sources and have problems compiling R
on a Sun Ultra 1 running Solaris 2.6 and gcc 2.7.2.1.
I have not been able to find to find any compiling hints in the
documentation or the FAQ.
After ./configure I use make and get the output below.
Any hints are welcome.
I am not on the list, so please answer me directly too.
Best regards
Jens

DUDA LLENAR MATRIZ CREADA
Buena tarde,

Hi,
I'm working on the codes below however every time I run them when they get

Any help would be greatly appreciated,

Filling in a uniform dist plot
Hi all,
Apologies in advance if this is really too simple, but I have given a
good shot at this. I'm generating a standard uniform distibution
y <- dunif(x)
plot(x,y,type="l")
This will draw a horizontal line at y = 1. I want to fill the area from
x=(0,1) with a color. I've tried the polygon command to create a
polygon of the same shape, but can't seem to set the

how a latent state matrix is updated using package R2WinBUGS
I'm trying to understand how a latent state matrix is updated by the MCMC
iterations in a WinBUGS model, using the package R2WinBUGS and an example
from Kery and Schaub's (2012) book, "Bayesian Population Analysis Using
WinBUGS". The example I'm using is 7.3.1. from a chapter on the
Cormack-Jolly-Seber model. Some excerpted code is included at the end of

I have problem running WinBUGS from R.
The following example works in WinBUGS but it does not work in R through

problems compiling R-0.63.3 on alpha
Hi again !
Thanks for the info on updating the config.site file which I
have done. I have also added -lm in the Makeconf manually
because this is needed explicitly for DEC cc.
However, there are still a few problems when linking some
of the files as you can see from the enclosed log.
Ciao,
Andreas

Hierarchical models in R
Is there a way to do hierarchical (bayesian) logistic regression in R, the
way we do it in BUGS? For example in BUGS we can have this model:
model
{for(i in 1:N) {
y[i] ~ dbin(p[i],n[i])
logit(p[i]) <- beta0+beta1*x1[i]+beta2*x2[i]+beta3*x3[i]
}
sd ~ dunif(0,10)
tau <- pow(sd, -2)
beta0 ~ dnorm(0,0.1)
beta1 ~ dnorm(0,tau)
beta2 ~ dnorm(0,tau)
beta3 ~
