Centos-4 Kernel pannic
Hi all, We are running a new Centos-4 server, and it has kernel panicked on us 4 times in the last month. After the first kernel panic we hooked up a serial console to the server and captured the output in order to have a record of what happens. I've included the error messages from the last time it locked up... but it doesn't really mean much to me. Anybody have any ideas what might be

megaraid problem
Hi, I'm trying to install Centos 4.3 x86 on a PE 1400SC but the install doesn't find any HD's. So then I get the option to load a module, so I choose for the megaraid_mbox module for the LSI LOGIC 4CH PERC but my RAID5 still doesn't get recognised. Had the same problem 2 years ago with FC3 wich was due to the megaraid module wich got obsolete in the 2.6 kernel but somebody filed

Sieve, and logging.
Hi All, Relatively new to Dovecot - converting from courier-imap. So far, I've got it working with virtual users (postfixadmin tables), and it seems to be working. I'm trying to get sieve working. It's not, so I tried turning up the logging, and putting it into a separate log file to get it out of the syslog for now. I can get the main dovecot to log, but I cannot get any log

Problems making custom isolinux.cfg
I have added a few custom RPM's to my CentOS 5.2 CD, dropped a kickstart.cfg file in the root of the CD, and now want to change the isolinux.cfg in the boot.iso so that it will automatically do a kickstart install when the CD boots up. I am using buildinstall to make the ISO. I edited the isolinux.cfg in /isolinux in my CentOS 5.2 distribution tree off of which I am building my ISO. But

prob boot xen-4 2.6.32 megaraid
Hallo, I have to try install xen-4 on dell pe2850 (Raid: perc4). booterror: megaraid Couldn''t register IRQ 7! But megaraid works with linux-2.6.18.8. Enclosed my tests: 1. Compile xen-4.0 + linux-2.6.32 snapshot (Jeremy) from [8] (test 1). cd /usr/src/xen-b29254c make all modules modules_install 2>&1 | tee make.out cp -p ./arch/x86/boot/bzImage /boot/vmlinux-2.6.32 #

buildinstall cannot find modules
When using buildinstall and CentOS 5.2 to create my own CD minus a bunch of unneeded RPM's and plus a few of my custom RPM's I find that the install CD that gets build does not install an initrd which renders the system unbootable. I also notice that when I run buildinstall with the -debug option it says: unpacking

buildinstall problems
Hello all! I am trying to make a stripped down CentOS 5.2 distro which will all fit on a single CD containing just the base and a few other packages I need. I run buildinstall like so: sudo /usr/lib/anaconda-runtime/buildinstall --debug --version 5 --product CentOS --comps /var/www/html/centos/5.2/os/x86_64/repodata/comps.xml --release My-CentOS-5.2 --prodpath CentOS

rejecting I/O to offline device (PERC woes)
Haven't gotten any tips on a solution to the problem below. It happened again this weekend. My next test steps (order not determined): 1. Downgrade to CentOS 4 2. Swap out PERC controller with a spare I have never had a problem with the PERC4/DC controllers on our other machines (RHEL3/4, CentOS 4). Although, I've no other machine that has 5 300G Fujitsu SCSI drives either. Any

RE: Is the 2.6 Linux kernel ready for production * environment
I was wondering what peoples thoughts are about this. It seem that * works just as well on Linux 2.6 as 2.4. Maybe a few small issues here and there but generally it seems to me that * is just as stable on either platform. 2.4 is the obvious choice for the highest possiblility of a stable well tested environment but 2.6 seems to have some enticing benefits. Can Linux 2.6 be considered a

Compiling legacy LSI megaraid drivers (Linux 2.6.11) with xen 2.0.7?
Hi all, I''ve been using Xen for a while and I am trying to install it onto a Dell Poweredge 2950. The 2850 uses a PERC4/Di raid on motherboard, which requires the LSI Legacy SCSI Raid driver to be compiled into the 2.6.11-xen0 kernel. I''ve been recompiling the kernel by: 1. Go into the linux-2.6.11-xen0 directory. Select the driver using "make ARCH=xen

Ruby & R
I see the packages from OmegaHat -- RSPython and RSPerl, however, I don't see anything available for Ruby. Is there a similar package for Ruby? If, not, is there the possiblility of creating one? Thx, Neil Eastep. ------------ "Try not. Do, do! Or do not. There is no try" Jedi Master Yoda

Scaling in SVM
Dear Community! I'm using the svm method of package e1071 for classifying my data. This really works fine, but however I have to work after creating the support vectors and the parameters with unscaled data. So the problem is when I try to train the classifier with the option "scale=F" the result is quite poor, so training with scaled data is essential. The rescaling of the support

RE: Is the 2.6 Linux kernel ready for produc tion * environment
uname -a Linux asterisk 2.6.10-1.1771_FC2smp # 1 SMP Mon Mar 20 01:10:51 EST i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux Processing hundreds of calls & faxes a day. No problem. If you are going to use a Fedora box make sure you yum update right after install then the kernel sources symbolic link is not horribly broken as it used to be. Otherwise, just go. -----Original Message----- From: canuck15 To:

Making Driver Disks
List, I have attempted to make my own megaraid driver disk for a Dell PowerEdge 2300. The procedure I'm using is detailed at the end of this message. In short, I followed samples that I collected after Googling around. The problem I face is that the CentOS 4 installer can't seem to mount the driver disk after I have created it. It gives no information other than, "Cannot

RE: SCSI Raid controller
Hi All, I have some old HP Netserver LPr?s that have old HP RAID controllers (NetRAID 3si?s). The RAID controllers don?t work too well with CentOS. I?ve not been able to get the installer to see the controllers. I?ve read a lot of notes that don?t seem to point to me having any success. So 2 questions. Has anyone successfully used NetRAID 3si controllers with CentOS? Can anyone recommend an
