Syslinux-4.06-pre14
Another week, *another* -pre. I'm really planning on this being the last
one. The shortlog is appended below. Apart from a better fix for the
"disabled menu entry" bug it's only documentation updates. Testing from
the last -pre's has been pretty quiet, so as soon as Ady and Matt have
tested this one and confirmed that the disabled entry bug is finally
gone I'll do the

Growing out of floppy images, what's the best alternative?
Hi.
We've been using PXELINUX for years, to kick off OS installations
(floppy images) and booting assorted tools. The addition of ISO support
in memdisk opened up some new alternatives that we also use, e.g.
booting WinPE ISO images over PXE.
Today I downloaded a BIOS for a HP EliteBook 8440p and discovered that
the BIOS file is 3 MB. I could probably squeeze it onto a 2.88 MB floppy

Syslinux 3.81-pre14... hopefully final this time
I have addressed all the issues that I know about (including, hopefully,
the isohybrid version dependence...). I would like to release this this
week so please let me know as soon as possible if this version is "go".

Syslinux 4.04-pre14: hopefully final release candidate
I have pushed out what I hope to be the last release candidate for
Syslinux 4.04. Please test it if you have the chance as I would like to
have 4.04 out as soon as possible.

RFD: Internationalizing the menu system
I know quite a few people have interest in internationalizing the menu
system. This is a tricky problem, since have a full-blown rendering
engine for the more complex languages (Indic, Semitic and East Asian
languages being the main ones that have substantial complexities.)
Given that, I was thinking that the most sensible thing might be to
pre-render strings (basically menu items and

linux kernel 3.17, freeze on resume
I haven't received a digest from the group in over six days. Have I
fallen off the list somehow? Is there an online spot where I may go to
see if there was any response to my last message?

Remove gpxe or replace with ipxe?
The gPXE in the Syslinux tree is ridiculously old. We could either
replace it with iPXE or just drop it, giving people a recipe for how to
integrate with iPXE themselves.
What do people think?

testing out 6.03 network booting...
Hi all,
wasnt sure whether this was the best place to put this information; but something seems to have gone 'backwards' in the later pre-releases of 6.03 regarding network booting.
below are results of me testing - i did each a few times to make sure they are valid results.
hope it helps identify something that's gone awry ?
so far, 6.03 pre11 and pre13 (excluding efi32) seem most

SYSLINUX 2.20-pre14 released - RELEASE CANDIDATE
So it turns out that -pre13 was quite buggy after all. Once I started
running the list of tests that I described in my email, a bunch of those
bugs came to heed.
Now I think I've fixed them, and so have released -pre14.
I have also formally decided to call the final release 3.00 when it's
ready. Between code base rewrite + EXTLINUX + libcom32 + simple menu,
there is plenty of

SYSLINUX 2.00-pre14 released
This version fixes the "PXELINUX reboots immediately on error" problem.
This actually turned out to be due to a NASM bug; I have changed the
code slightly to avoid the problem.
Please, people, test this out so I can release a final...

SYSLINUX 2.09-pre14 released, release candidate
This release includes Murali's menu positioning patch; it is otherwise
identical to 2.09-pre13.
I will release this as 2.09 on Sunday unless I hear objections.
Note that I've effectively been out of the loop, moving houses, for
almost a month, so if there is something I'm forgetting please tell me...

SYSLINUX 3.50-pre14 pushed out; adds INCLUDE support
It really turned out not to be all that hard to do, after all. I
definitely feel a bit silly, but there you have it.
Please test this out as 3.50 really is way overdue to get out the door.

menu timeout restarted with single item (4.06-pre14)
Hi,
The menu timeout isn't cancelled but restarted when there's only a
single item in the menu and I try to move the selection. The selection
flashes but of course does not move. Tested with pxelinux under QEMU:
$ qemu -net nic -boot n -net user,tftp=tftpboot,bootfile=/pxelinux.0
pxelinux.cfg/default:
UI menu.c32
TIMEOUT 100

[PATCH] Fixing a couple of glitches in configure.in (1.2.pre14.)
Hi,
After fixing the --with-tcp-wrappers problem I decided to look closer at
configure.in and found that --with-md5-passwords didn't work either. This
patch fixes both problems (remember to run autoconf.)

Syslinux 4.04-pre15
Okay, I have found a workaround for the build problem that affected
-pre13 and -pre14, and as a side bonus I have pulled a couple of fixes,
including Sebastian's latest gfxboot updates.
