I have seen posts about this problem, but have had trouble finding how/if it was resolved. I am trying to upgrade from syslinux-3.11 to syslinux-3.86 on RHEL5. On 3.86, when it performs a local boot from hard disk, it just keeps looping back into PXE boot again instead of booting from the hard disk. I have been using PXELINUX, with "LOCALBOOT 0" when wanting to boot from disk, for many years. Now on new Dell Optiplex 990 machines, PXE boot with "LOCALBOOT 0" hangs after message Booting from local disk... without the expected "Exiting PXE" message. Hi LocalBoot have unpredictable behaviour. I have tried 0, 0x80 and -1 on different machines. Some work good, some hang, some reset and some repoen the menu. I also uses chain.c32 but it had the same problem. I checked 3COM MBA menu mba.pxe and it works good on all machines. Is there any workaround? Behrad

As subject says: With Intel PXE stack version 4.x (stack identifies itself in BIOS as IBA 4.0.x or 4.1.x), pxelinux' localboot option hangs instead of going to BIOS. This does not happen with older PXE stack. I have a feeling that the this broke somewhere in version 2.x - I *believe* 1.75 PXELINUX works fine - but haven't had a chance to try again. -alex
