# Hi all,
# I've made a function to make a formula out of a data.frame without columns
which contain a constant value.
# The function "which.constant" returns the indices of colums with constant
values:
which.constant <- function(data.frame) { # counts the number of columns in a
data.frame which are constant
h <- sapply(sapply(data.frame,unique),length) # count unique values

Page Caching, CSRF, and Loading a form via Ajax
Hi all,
I would like to use page caching on my homepage, but also want to
enable people to sign in via a modal dialog sign in form. I could
have a setup in which when a user lands on the cached homepage, an
Ajax GET request pulls in the whole login form so that there is a
fresh authenticity token.
That said, besides the additional hit to the server, the CSRF token in
the head area of the page

oggenc and SMP
Greets,
I'm encoding my favorite Vivaldi Four Seasons CD (my tester files) on
my older dual PII-350 linux machines (it's kinda slow with '-b 160'
but that's alright) and started wondering - mind you, I'm sucky at C -
is it that hard to implement an encoder that uses all the processors
on a SMP computer?
Andre.

os x and samba performance vs netatalk
Client:
Dual 1GHz G4 OSX 10.2
Gig-Ethernet
Server:
Dual 2GHz P4 Linux 2.4.18
Raid-5 1TB
Gig-Ethernet
With netatalk 1.5.5 I get sustained writes of 66MB/s (yes, megabytes)
With samba 2.2.7a I get sustained writes of 15MB/s
I've tweaked the settings and ended up with these:
socket options = TCP_NODELAY SO_RCVBUF=8192 SO_SNDBUF=8192
IPTOS_LOWDELAY SO_KEEPALIVE

Web Forum for SysLinux
Hi,
My name is Nuno and I'm one of the Administrators at Boot Land (
http://boot-land.net)
Our site is mainly focused on boot disks and boot loaders.
We'd like to host an official forum section for discussions specific to
SysLinux since it is also used with frequency in some of the projects that
are being developed at the site and this would also bring some extra
exposition of this

Web-based forum for Vorbis discussion
Hi all,
a web based forum has been set up for discussion
about Ogg Vorbis. It's meant to be a home for both
technical issues and general usage questions.
If you were familiar with the old r3mix forums,
this is more or less the next generation. It also
includes forums for MPC, AAC and MP3/MP3Pro discussion.
Further listening test (including the Vorbis ones)
are also going to be conducted

Interesting. I discussed this off line with a couple of folks and
offered to host a forum. -- But, not to run it. So, this is great that
we know have it and you have stepped up to the plate to run it.
I do have a request / suggestion: I've noticed that many of the boards
for open source software suffer from a couple of problems and it would
be great if the Icecast forum could rise above
