Forced upgrade to 4.3 ?
I have Centos 4.2 and I run yum update periodically and manually when
security patches are released, etc. Today I saw the sendmail security
update and although I don''t use sendmail (I use Postfix) I ran "yum update"
and got a huge list of 93 packages to update. I presume this is to upgrade
to 4.3. As this is a production server I''m nervous about doing an update

MySQL() timeout
Anyone know if the MySQL() application has a configurable timeout?
If it tries to connect to a bogus IP, it's timeout seems to be a few minutes.
I'd like to cut it down to a few seconds.

Odd Samba/btrfs AD member server problem
openSUSE 13.2 machine with btrfs for /
Running samba-4.1.14-3.3.x86_64.
Samba is configured to have the server act as a member server in a
Windows Activedirectory domain.
wbinfo -u and getent passwd work fine. getent passwd shows local and
domain users.
However, setfacl -n -R -m u:userX:rwx /testpath fails if userX is a
domain user, but succeeds if userX is a local user. Using different

.lock file issue
I'm currently running Asterisk 10.5.1, compiled from source, and just had someone call saying they couldn't get their voice mail. Looking into the user's voice mail folder, I saw a .lock file.
Removing this file, enabled them to get voice mail.
Is anybody else seeing this? The system is a new install and has only been running for a week with very little traffic (8 person office).

Correct way to update Asterisk
Pardon the newbie post. I installed Asterisk on a "test" system using
the Asterisk@home cd image. When you boot from Asterisk@home is installs
an O/S and Asterisk on your PC. How cool is that. But I was wondering if
someone could point me in the right direction for updating the version
that I have.
I'm new to CVS, how do I determine what version to build? Is there a
primer on how to

Missing voicemail prompt beginning
Hello,
I am using the voicemail module of asterisk. When I did some test calls
from my mobile phone, sometimes the beginning of the prompt was missing,
e.g. instead of something like "number 12345 not available" I was only
hearing "345 not available". Verbose level 5 on the asterisk console didn't
give me any hint on this, it only shows that playback of the prompt started

system-config-bind?
I'm trying to move our bind-8 from a redhat 9 box to a bind-9 on a
CentOS-4 box. I'm not as good as I'd like to be in bind, so I thought
I'd use the configuration tool. But I can't find it!
I've tried yum search system-config-bind, googling, everything I can
think of. Is the tool just plain gone?
Thanks!

Anyone tried the recent Mac OS X Security update?
It includes a patch for Ruby. I have already installed 1.8.4 from
source, and updated my PATH to look in /usr/local first, so I don''t
imagine that anything Apple does to "their" copy of Ruby will have any
impact on me, but I''m wondering if the changes to their Ruby is
something that needs to be done to 1.8.4 as well.
Thoughts?
