Inconsistencies between ExtLinux and IsoLinux
Hi,
First of all, I'm new to this mailinglist, so I it's unappropriate to report
things like this, please tell me so.
I'm trying to get the Summer of Code (see

Loading ELF dynamic modules
Ive seen the GSOC 2008 mod for allowing dynamic loading of ELF modules
and it fits exactly what we need.
1) It mentions it will be part of syslinux 4. Is there an estimated
release for syslinux 4?
2) The docs are amazingly sparse. Aside from one partial usage note,
there appear to be no text files, man pages, html.. nothing. Only thing
I could find was looking in source at the print_help

Preview of SYSLINUX Dynamic ELF Modules Support
Greetings everyone,
As my work on SYSLINUX as a Google Summer of Code student is
approaching the deadline (only one week left), I would like to
publicly announce the availability of a ready-to-test preview of
SYSLINUX dynamic module loading support.
Currently, SYSLINUX offers support for only loading one module at a
time, represented in the COM32 format. This means that whenever

Second Preview of SYSLINUX Dynamic Modules - GSoC Release
Greetings everyone,
As the official Google Summer of Code 2008 program reached the
deadline on August 18, I'd wish to announce the release of the second
preview of my work on SYSLINUX, which is also the "GSoC Final Release"
(that is, the code I will officially send to Google). You can find
about what's new in this release and more in the announcements page,

rsync wants to copy Identical directory structure and files.
Hello,
I have two identical directories and when I run an rsync --dry-run on
them rsync wants to transfer all the files from the source directory to
the target directory. I verified some files in both directories with
'ls -l' and the output is the same which, if I understand correctly,
means that rsync should not include the file in the list of files to
transfer. I also did an md5

[kdo@cosmos.phy.tufts.edu: protocol incompatibility between OpenSSH and SSH secure shell?]
Hello all!
I didn't see anyone else reply to this, but I also didn't see
anything show up on the OpenSSH development list (Cc'ed here). There
is a patch call out right now for the pending release of 2.4.0. I'm
wondering if anyone is aware of this and if it's already been covered
in 2.4.0?
Please reply to list and original poster...

Thanks Ken.
I'll plan to sit down and look up the protocol information over the next week or so and follow up.

Math labels in .eps files
Dear list,
I have non-ascii labels that I want to include somethow in a .eps file for
inclusion into a LateX document. Is this possible?
What I see is that the (attached) png file looks ok but the .eps renders
all non-ascii labels at the bottom as [..].
I've searched around enough to learn that including math labels in a .eps
is a problem. Hower, is there a solution too somewhere?

Patch mboot.c with Symbols/segments loader for multiboot ELF kernels
The program segments loaded presently in mboot.c only consists of a
subset of sections described by the ELF Section Header Table (SHT) in
the ELF kernel binary. Segments with useful information often needed for
debugging purposes (symbol tables, string tables, etc.) aren't usually
present in the program segments and hence not loaded above.
Some kernels use this debugging information to

How to extract parameter estimates of variance function from lme fit
Dear R-Users,
I have a question concerning extraction of parameter estimates of
variance function from lme fit.
To fit my simulated data, we use varConstPower ( constant plus power
variance function).
fm<-lme(UPDRS~time,data=data.simula,random=~time,method="ML",weights=varConstPower(fixed=list(power=1)))
I extract the results of this function by using the following codes:

Gnome Screensaver - not functioning as advertised
Hi List,
Currently running a couple of CentOS 6.3 workstations / laptops with
gnome as the default window manager.
Since the original 6.1 install the behaviour of the screensaver has changed.
I use the cosmos theme and have this activate after five minutes of idle.
Initially, when the five minutes were up, the screen would start to dim
and if one moved the mouse or hit a key on the keyboard it

Help, Ideas and Ready for use Solutions
Hi,
I would like to ask you for advice how to solve the following case:
I have a client (who happened to be my friend) and I have convinced
him that the IP PBX solution is much better than the conventional
telephone centrals (PBX). At the beginning he wanted to buy PBX
Panasonic, but at this moment he is waiting for my decision. Because
at the moment we are not so deeply familiar with these

DSP Coding
Hi,
I would like to find some way for hardware coding instead software
(using the Host CPU). Are there any PCI boards just with codecs (DSP)
or other way?

Theoretically, this should be the same as running the command "upscmd bcpers at localhost -u <upsd.user> load.off.delay <delay>".

about the function order()
Dear all,
I have recently experienced something with the function order I cannot
explain:
The help(order) (which I admit having overlooked before) rises even more
my confusion...
The following lines made me think order() was returning the 'order' each
value in a vector would take when sorted.
