SYSLINUX 3.54 released
This is 100% functionally equivalent to 3.54-pre1, with only a few minor documentation changes. Changes in 3.54: * Add "menu separator", "menu indent", "menu disabled" (see README.menu). * vesamenu: fix handing of VESA modes with noncontiguous memory buffers. In particular, Qemu/KVM sets up such a mode when Cirrus

SYSLINUX 3.30-pre1 released
Hi all, I have pushed out a SYSLINUX 3.30-pre1. The main difference versus earlier versions is that this version contains a *preview* of a VESA graphical menu system (vesamenu.c32); it's used the same way as menu.c32, with the addition of a few more commands (which can also be used in menu.c32 in this new version): MENU BACKGROUND file.png ... loads a background image in PNG format.

Syslinux-6.00-pre1
I've just pushed out a 6.00-pre1 release. This release includes support for booting EFI machines. The code is currently in the alpha stage. Having said that, you should expect most things to work correctly, including things like the graphical menu. Please help test if you can, and if you find any bugs, please report them. To facilitate building different versions of syslinux.efi (32-bit and

gpxe + SYSLINUX menus = Fail?
I am attempting to setup a test gpxe(linux.0) http site, to test among other things the recent dynamic option 252 solution. In the process of investigation I stumbled across http://www.etherboot.org/wiki/appnotes/authmenus which indicates the gpxe can launch vesamenu.c32 directly. Various other pages on etherboot's site indicate menu.c32/vesamenu.c32 can be used independently as well.

HDT 0.3.6-pre2 is out !
The -pre2 version of HDT 0.3.6 is out. Gert was a great source of motivation for making that -pre2. He found many bugs and gave nice ideas. Thanks Gert for your time and your _many_ tests. This release will be more or less what will be included in the incoming syslinux 3.84. Since -pre1, here come the Changelog * Reporting CPU L1 & L2 cache * Report "Hw.Virt" in cpu

HDT 0.3.6-pre1 is out !
The 0.3.6 release will be mostly bug fix oriented. Before releasing, I'd love having more feedback on it. So here come the -pre1 release. I would like to thank the following people for making this new release possible : Pierre for his patches, Gert for his tests, Alexander Andino for his great artwork, Ralf Carl for his very reactive debugging on older hardware, Changelog for -pre1 *

Fwd: Problem with GT218 (GeForce GT210)
Hi again, I got a new dmesg log with the debug parameters, but I guess I could not isolate VESA. I blacklisted it at /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.conf but comparing those logs I see no difference... Is it possible to isolate VESA somehow without removing it? The new logs are here, I'm posting full content because I'm not sure what information is more relevant...

SYSLINUX 3.00-pre1 released - RELEASE CANDIDATE
Okay, nothing like user mail at 3 am to keep one awake... I have implemented a filename-based syntax for downloading from an alternate TFTP server in PXELINUX. If the filename starts with IP address:: it will: a) Download from the alternate TFTP server; b) Suppress the common pathname prefix. I was considering also adding a configuration file option to set the default TFTP server, but I

Syslinux 6.04-pre1
After so much time and improvements, I'm glad to see and publicize a pre-release, 6.04-pre1 in https://www.kernel.org/pub/linux/utils/boot/syslinux/Testing/6.04/ Personally, I've already been working testing the pre-release as-is and my tests have been positive so far. I appreciate feedback like that from Gabriele Balducci and testing "make bios installer". Yes, there are a

SYSLINUX 3.70-pre1: development release
Hi all, I have pushed out a prerelease of one of the development branches (I currently have three development branches open), 3.70-pre1. This release revamps a whole lot of internal APIs to support reading files without knowing their length ahead of time. This is necessary in order to support network protocols which do not advertise the transfer size. The immediate user-visible change is

hdt error on syslinux 6.0.4-pre1?
Was seeing it I could get any closer with the efi boot using the 6.0.4, and didn't have any more luck. Did a test with it in bios mode and it works for the regular kernels, but when I tried the hdt.c32 I get the following error? Undef symbol FAIL: parse_url Failed to load COM32 file hdt.c32 Only find urlparce.c in the PXE directory, and no reference to it in any files in the hdt
