SYSLINUX-3.52-pre5: XP BOOTSEC.BIN Bug
I just encountered my only bug w/ the ISOLINUX+VESAMENU combination
from 3.52-pre5. Updated a *working* CD project w/ the new
ISOLINUX+VESAMENU combo just last week. Booting my preferred Linux
distro (Slax-6) from my custom CDs work perfectly, however when I
updated a CD project that includes BartPE/WinPE, BartPE fails to
boot w/ 'CDBoot can not boot CD: error 4" msg. For the

Isolinux bug: CD bootsector support broken
HPA,
I believe that support to boot windows CD bootsectors was broken
in 3.05. I have tested 2.13, 3.00, 3.02, 3.05, 3.06, 3.08, 3.11, and
3.20pre6. All versions >= 3.05 are broken. All versions <= 3.02 work
fine with the same config. The error message I get is:

How to Create an ISOLinux Bootable CD Question
Peter,
First, I'm not a programmer and I don't have Linux. The reason I am emailing
you is that I spend the two weeks looking over your site and other trying to
figure out " HOW to create an ISOLinux image or convert my existing ISO
image to and ISOLinux image. I have some software called" Flashboot" that
can take and ISOLinux image and can create a bootable Flash drive of

mdiskchk and WinPE
Greetings, all...
Hoping someone can point me in the right direction. I've set up a Linux PXE host with a menu choice to install Windows. This option boots a WinPE image, which then uses \\net use... to mount the appropriate ISO image. Works fine. However, I would like to pass the iso name and directory into WinPE from the menu via append= arguments. Thus, I can set up a separate menu option

(hpa-tftpd] remapping with regular expression problem
Hi mailing list,
I'm working on PXE booting a BartPE (=Windows XP) system from a server running
hpa tftpd.
In the initialization phase the files are requested from the boot server by TFTP, later
the transfer is switched to SMB.
Most of the problems during this tftp phase can be solved with the remapping feature
quite nicely like:
*converting filenames into absolute paths
*convert

PXE booting WinPE with UEFI architecture
This got me closer, but it got to "Encapsulating winpe.wim..." and never went through the rest of the way. Ultimately PXELINUX apparently timed out and the machine rebooted.
Here is relative portion of pxelinux:

Attempts to install a Windows driver from WinPE
One of the things we would really like to be able to do for V2V is to
install a new driver in a Windows guest. There are a couple of reasons
for this:
* The guest may not be bootable without the driver installed, for
example because the underlying virtual hardware has changed from vmscsi
to virtio.
* If the guest can boot, the alternative is to modify the guest to run a
script on next boot.

PXE -> tftp -> WinPE vs NForce 4
Hi
The setup, as in the subject, is supposed to boot a Winpe to install
xp to a clean PC.
I use the Ramdisk method (ie PXELinux pases the setup on to the M$
pxe loader and and boots WinPE)
It works perfectly with evry other chipset, but Nvidias NForce 4.
(tested 15 different)
With NF4 it loads up well but the M$ PnP routine detects the Network
management bus wrong (nvidia specific approach to

Thus the rub: The exe seems to have disappeared from winbin as well. It's there, but downloads as a zero-byte file.

Need help chainloading from isolinux.
i am trying to use chain.c32 with isolinux to load WinPE/BartPE/etc and
I can not get it to work.
I have tried with the simple.c32, and just from the isolinux prompt. I
have tried 3.32-pre6,
3.20, and jumped back and tried 3.08. All configurations fail with
'Cannot read Master Boot Record'.
The boot sectors are known to be good, and are known to work with
chain.c32 with pxelinux.

Spybot Search and Destroy
Hi everyone, thanks for taking the time to read my post.
I am using ubuntu 8.04 DRBL in an IT setting that has wine 1.1.16 installed with Spybot S&D. We use it to PXE boot virus-infected computers to scan them without threatening a real installation, and without the hassle of live-cds.
Spybot has a switch (/allhives) that detects multiple windows installations for scanning, and the switch

pxechn.c32 contains BIOS-only code and is not going to work in any EFI
environment.

Using PXE to Boot CD Images?
Is it possible to chain isolinux and memdisk over pxelinux?
If it's possible, I'd like to boot a CD Image over the network. I've
been using pxelinux to boot ltsp for years, and recently upgraded to
take advantage of memdisk for booting a DOS hd-image. Ideally I'd be
able to boot a CD-Image. Thoughts?

PXE booting WinPE with UEFI architecture
Anyone have luck with pxechn32 and bootmgfw.efi?
I'm getting the "Unable to retrieve first package" issue as reported by others.
Really, any advice for UEFI booting into a winpe environment off of pxelinux 6.03 would be beneficial.

APPEND String under WinPE
Hi All,
Is there a way to retrieve the APPEND string under OS's other than
Linux? I seen a while ago a version for DOS, but it didn't work under
WinPE.
I would be interested in developing a Win32 program to do such a thing
if the specification were available.
Your thoughts HPA?
