Memdisk doesn't work without floppy drive
Hi,
I stumbled on a rather odd problem. A brand new HP Compaq dx2200 computer
didn't want to boot up pxelinux+memdisk image. The computer just gave "Disk I/O
error" and stopped there. Workaround was rather simple... Just attach regular
floppy drive to the motherboard and everything started working fine.
I tried with older 2.05 (pxelinux+memdisk) and newer 3.31. Both produced

memdisk requires floppy drive to boot
Hello!
Below is an excerpt from the thread in October. I have the same problem,
but my laptop (which is a Brand new HP Compaq NC6230) does not have options
in the BIOS to enable or disable floppy support. It just doesn't have one.
I assume it leaves it enabled for USB Floppy support, but does not come with
the drive.
My ISOLinux setup is a UBCD. I tried to make my own, but the lack of

Oplocks_break FAILURE in 2.2.7? hmm..
Dear Samba team.
I have hybrid network with MSDOS / Win9x(ME) / Win2k/XP(NT) computers
at home. I'm using Samba as PDC. W9x/me clients works fine as so as
with roving profiles, but I'm experiencing problems with w2k, NT4/XP
just not test because i'm testing on my box at home and when it'll
work fine then I'll go to clients from which smaller part has XPs
installed on PC.

ramdisk load
Hello!
I'd like to load a ramdisk with syslinux, but from another disk.
And I've found this in the syslinux faq:
"An initrd is loaded from a DOS file if the option "initrd=filename"
(where filename is the filename of the initrd image; the file must be
located in the root directory on the boot floppy)"

Help Memdisk + Pxelinux hangs
Hello,
I am a *nix newbie
I am trying to boot a DOS boot disk using PXE (to Ghost on windows
images).
We have an existing PXE server which successfully serves out PXElinux and
Fedora builds based on that but my floppy disk image with memdisk isn't
working
I have tried a few different floppy images which people have posted as
ones that work for them but I doubt the disk is the problem

Growing out of floppy images, what's the best alternative?
Hi.
We've been using PXELINUX for years, to kick off OS installations
(floppy images) and booting assorted tools. The addition of ISO support
in memdisk opened up some new alternatives that we also use, e.g.
booting WinPE ISO images over PXE.
Today I downloaded a BIOS for a HP EliteBook 8440p and discovered that
the BIOS file is 3 MB. I could probably squeeze it onto a 2.88 MB floppy
image

DOS/Freedos: Can't use mkfloppyimg.sh or mkdiskimage for +8M images ( Murali (????? ?????) )
Sorry for the delay, I should not send email on an holiday week-end.
I'll try to answer all the questions by explaining what does work
for me right now, and what I'd like to do.
I have a script to create the a USB stick or an ISO image. The boot
media contains many DOS images, and I use versamenu to select one
of them. If my DOS image is smaller than 8megs, everything is working

Can't boot a kernel from usb drive
I have been trying to boot a kernel I compiled. I tried 2 different USB
thumb drives. I tried win32 syslinux 3.31 and 3.36 with no luck. I even
tried another known good kernel for testing purposes. After syslinux
starts I get "Invalid or corrupt kernel image" but I don't think it is
even really trying to run it. The last time I built a kernel about 1-1/2
years ago you could put a

Large Floppy Images
I have periodically been trying to get memdisk to boot images
larger than your average 1.44Mb floppy and have always been
unsuccessful. I cannot boot anything greater than 1.44Mb. The systems
I'm attempting to do this with are not too old but they are not recent
either. One is a Asus P5A and the other is a Intel SE440BX both with
the most recent bios firmware patches available applied. If

SYSLINUX 3.31 released
I have just released SYSLINUX 3.31. It is functionally identical to
SYSLINUX 3.31-pre4.
Changes in 3.31:
* The simple menu system (menu.c32 and vesamenu.c32) now
support loading more than one configuration file at a time,
using MENU INCLUDE or by specifying multiple filenames.
* The MENU COLOR statement can now control the shadowing mode.

Corruption of floppy link when upgrading to 3.0.0
Dear all,
Here's the case, I've got several (5) win2k machines being served by a
Samba PDC (RH9).
I did an upgrade of samba:
service smb stop
cd /path/samba-3.0.0/source
make install
service smb start
Everything seems to work fine EXCEPT...all the floppy links in all the
SendTo directories (and Recent, if used) in all the profiles on the
Samba PDC were corrupted.
This corruption

Can't boot NT floppy
Hi,
Thanks a lot for your exceptional work.... I guess many people dealing with
bootable CD's just could'nt do anything without isolinux...
However I've got a small problem.
In fact the problem is maybe due to my BIOS (Phoenix on an HP Vectra VL800),
and maybe due to isolinux / memdisk, I don't know.
Generally speaking, take any floppy, format it under Win2K, copy from your

Important feature missing: Floppy booting from 2 disks
Hi list,
I've used sys & pxelinux now many times, it's really a useful toy. I found
esp. syslinux very helpful as it allows to COMPLETELY boot from multiple
disks. However, I could never use a 'vanilla' syslinux for that. I'm
doomed to use Distributor patched versions, which I don't really like. Why
is that? Read on:
Well, I can't manage to boot of a 1.44 MB

pxeLinux on an Intel SE7501WV2 with 82546EB
All:
I have recently discovered pxeLinux/memdisk and have been using them without alot of pain in a somewhat unconventional setup.. Win2k DHCP server and tftpd32 on WinXP. Don't throw rocks at me - you use what you've got. Anyways, thanks to HPA for a great tool.
I am running into an odd little problem now for which I was wondering if there might be some remedy. On a particular
