pxelinux localboot 0 fails?
I have a pxelinux I'm working with and I want the default option
to be to boot off the local mbr. According to the docs, if I
specify localboot 0, it should return to the BIOS and continue to
the next device. When I do this, though, the pxe agent exists
(PXE-M0F), but the BIOS never continues on.
Is this a BIOS issue? If so, has anyone else figured out a way to
work around it?

bad I/O performance with HP Smart Array RAID
Hi all,
I discovered lately that two of my XEN servers suffer from a really
bad disk throughput - in domU as well as in dom0. All of them run
Debian/Etch, Kernel 2.6.18-6-xen (orig. Debian) with XEN 3.2 (backported).
The software versions seem to be ok for most machines:
Lenovo A57 with S-ATA and (E8200, VT enabled): up to 90MB/s
Shuttle, FB61 based, ATA-Disk (Celeron, no VT): up to

Centos 5.3, no AHCI on HP DL320 G5p?
I have one HP Proliant DL320 G5p, where for some reason, the AHCI mode
is not enabled. According to server specs, it should have AHCI/NCQ
capability, but ata_piix module gets loaded during bootup, not ahci module.
Any ideas how to enable AHCI mode?

install 5.5 x86-64 on DL320 G6
I am trying to install on a DL320 proliant.
The disk is not being recognized. It fails when setting up disk with "no
devices" found.
I dont get an sda or cciss either one.
I tried to disable the on board smart array controller? That didnt seem
to make a difference.
Is there something special I need to do?
Thanks,

BCM575X 8.1 doesn't do 'PXE-M0F'
Hi there,
I'm using pxelinux.0 to boot another pxe boot image that checks if a
host needs to be installed by doing a network query. If this is not the
case, this image would return and boot from the next device.
But on this Broadcom card, the Message 'PXE-M0F' does not appear, so the
pxe image does not return. With the latest stable the PC would recognize
the keystroke

SYSLINUX 3.10-pre15
I just picked up 3.10-pre15 and the "PXELINUX corrupts graphic filename
referenced from DISPLAY file" bug is zapped. Yipee! Thanks hpa. And
Arwin too, if that 'xor esi, esi' was the crux.
However, LOCALBOOT -1 and LOCALBOOT 0 don't work the same as they did
for me in 3.07. :-(

However, after i issue 'reboot' command, my box fails to find the tftp

This looks to be happening before pxelinux has any chance to participate,
so it cannot be to blame.

connecting 66 analog phones to asterisk - hardware suggestions
Hi, I am looking to connect 66 analog phones to an asterisk box. I was
thinking of a Xorcom astribank 32port (2 of them and another 8 port).
this is because the phones have no near connection to an ip network,
so replacing the phones in favor of voip phones+network cabling is
kinda out of the question.
In your experience, will these units support all the phones talking at
the same time with

PXE-Boot fails after reboot with kernel 2.6.x
Hello list,
I've been using PXE Boot for quite some time now and it has been working
without any problems.
I'm using a Biostar M7VIZ mainboard with a VIA KM400 chipset, and
VIA-Rhine VT6102 NIC.
Yesterday I upgrade the Kernel on my net-boot machine from 2.4.24 to 2.6.12.
When I power on the machine it boots up normally.
However, when I reboot the machine, the mainboards PXE-ROM only

odd pxelinux/tftp-hpa problem
I haven't encountered this problem before. This is from a Compaq
DL320, with Intel Boot Agent 4.0.17 and tftp-hpa-0.28 running on
Solaris. The PXE stack gets its IP address just fine, but it times out
on the TFTP. While snooping on the Solaris box and grepping for TFTP, I
found that the box gets one block of the TFTP transfer just fine.

xen-ioemu-3.0: AMD vs. Intel
I saw Nate Carlson's message saying "..and it has been tested on amd64".
I just installed it on an HP DL320 with Intel Pentium D 930, running
i386 Sarge+backports. The packages seem to work here with Intel VT as
well - in fact I just got through the Windows 2003 installation to the
point where I could switch from VNC to RDP. Cool!

Hyperthreaded CPU and SMP kernel
Hi gang!
I'm using Centos 4.4 at work on a HP Proliant DL320 G2, which has a Hypterthreaded Pentium IV CPU.
I used to use RHEL WS 2.1 on it, and RH installed and used the SMP kernel.
Centos 4.4 did NOT install the SMP kernel. Is there some reason why I should
NOT install it myself? I.e., some reason why an SMP kernel shouldn't be used
on such a machine?
Gracias!

[gPXE] localboot 0 hang on some machines with gpxelinux.0
I'm bringing back an old thread, but I'm still having problem with this:
http://etherboot.org/pipermail/gpxe/2010-March/000571.html
The summary of that thread is that with gpxelinux.0, on some computers
the command LOCALBOOT 0 will hang the computer. Around the same time
as the original thread, there was a patch to add localboot -1. Also in
the original thread, it was proposed to use
