WDS and PXELinux
Dear All, First posting here... I am trying to integrate a PXELinux boot into my native-mode WDS server. I have found that making WDS boot the PXELinux is easy (see below), it is making PXELinux give control back to WDS that I have not cracked yet. -In your WDS server, copy the contents of your tftpboot folder to the Boot\x86 folder in your RemoteInstall one. -Open the Windows Deployment

Unable to figure out extlinux
OK, been perusing the archives and Google, but can't find what I want. I'm building up a 512 MB compact flash using the CLFS directions to build the filesystem. That works great, but I would like to use extlinux to make the cflash bootable on my little SBC. However, to date, no dice. Attached is my extlinux.conf file and the steps I have used to make this work. Initially I tried to

pxelinux and WDS server for Vista
I am testing BDD 2007 and WDS on a Windows 2003 Server. I have a PXE Server with tftpd32 and pxelinux boot. Is it possible to have a menu entry that chain the first pxe booting(pxelinux) to the WDS Server which is on a different computer because I can't install WDS on the TFTP pxelinux. I have testing this entry: LABEL TEST WDS kernel ipadress::pxeboot.0 but the first server always respond

Booting Windows
When booting windows I currently have to use an extracted boot sector to chain-load the OS, is there any merit to creating a method to execute NTLDR directly using a /reverse engineered/ version of the boot sector?

Oracle Apps on Linux
Hi folks, I seem to remember someone asking how to install Oracle Apps on Linux so here goes a quick and dirty how-to:- 0 - You will need access to Metalink (Oracle's support site) for downloading patches and read documentation on line. 1 - Size up your Linux box to at least 1Gb memory and 200Gb of disk space. I'm assuming you have a Pentium 4 at around 3GHz. 2 - Download and

PXELINUX and WDS (The Proper WAY)
After about 15 hours, a packet sniffer and a ton of google searching later, I have a solution to getting WDS (Windows Deployment Services) to work with PXELINUX Google didn't turn up anything of use directly, everything that was referenced appeared to be related to starting pxelinux from either WDS or RIS. That just won't do, since they often can give hiccups and lockups when

Help on chan_misdn and MSN's
Quick question: Is there a way to distinguish between calling MSN's when using chan_misdn? More info: I've got my ISDN2 (EuroISDN) up and running here in Romania with 1 base number plus 5 MSN's. Now I want to my * to do different things when receiving a call on from different MSN's (like forwarding the call to my FAX machine or forwarding the call to my mobile). The obvious way

Copy program from win partition
Good morning, Is there any way to copy the files of a intalled program in win partition to ./wine/fake_windows/ in a linux partition? The reason is that: If wine is configured to use win partition this program works, but veeeeery slowly. It can_t be isntalled it in fake_windows. So I tried to copy the files that it installed in win partition to linux partition, but I don't know how make key

checksum_seed
What is the point to checksum_seed? When reading/writing batch, it is initialized to a constant value, otherwise it is initialized to time(NULL). It certainly has no useful cryptographic value :) I got the go-ahead from the client on my --link-by-hash proposal, and the seed is making the hash unstable. I can't figure out why the seed is there so I don't know whether to cirumvent it in

Win32 and Backing up open files
I now fully and completely remember why I hate Windows. I have struggled with the backup semantics options in order to get rsync able to back up open files, and I got something that appeared like it should work, but it didn't work. So I finally broke down and wrote a holdopen.exe and a tryopen.exe to test my theory, and no matter what privleges were enabled (backup and restore were enabled),

Versioned files (take 2)
I've pondered the feedback and revised my proposal to the client. Here is the revised project objectives. Notably, this is the addition of 4), the deletion of the whole slew of items actually related to handling versioned files, and mention of preexisting work on 1). I've took a little gander at some of the backup wrappers, and it looks like I will probably use one of these. I'll

Adding support for versioned files in rsync
Hi! Below is a link to a proposal I'm writing for two clients of ours who want an Internet-based backup solution. I propose eleven "objectives" in it, most of which are modifications to rsync. I'd like to contribute these changes back where possible, and so I'm posting this here for review. The nuts and bolts of it is the ability to keep multiple copies of files (think

Samba and Windows CE
This is my first time posting to the digest, so I hope I get this right. CC:Mail is also giving me problems, so bear with me. I've come across a web page giving a link to Microsoft's written but unsupported Network Client for Windows CE. This lets a Windows CE palmtop browse Windows shares across a network. HOwever, the web page claims that it

open files
hi guyz, One simple question. What does rsync do when it encounters open files. Do we have to use open file manager(like st bernard) to back up open files or is there any open source open file manager or can rsync backup open files by itself. thanx tarun --------------------------------- Do you Yahoo!?
