"sector read error" with 3.20-pre8 syslinux.com
Hi All,
A colleague of mine is using syslinux-3.20-pre8, syslinux.com, under
DOS to install syslinux loader. It gives "sector read error". He
re-compiled syslinux.com under a linux box, and used it successfully
to install the loader from DOS. He is installing it on a hard drive (C:)
He booted from a floppy and ran: "syslinux.com C:" at A:\ prompt
He tried with

Isolinux bug: CD bootsector support broken
HPA,
I believe that support to boot windows CD bootsectors was broken
in 3.05. I have tested 2.13, 3.00, 3.02, 3.05, 3.06, 3.08, 3.11, and
3.20pre6. All versions >= 3.05 are broken. All versions <= 3.02 work
fine with the same config. The error message I get is:

Which seems logical if you boot a kernel (like Linux, or Memdisk with an imagefile), but not when doing a local boot (diskette/harddisk)
In other words: boot from cdrom, and if you then load a disk-image, eltorito.sys should load. If not loading a

[PATCH 1/1] mboot.c32: fix register constraints bug
From: Tim Deegan <Tim.Deegan at cl.cam.ac.uk>
Fix register constraints of final jump to kernel entry.
When compiled with some GCC versions, mboot.c32 would clobber the kernel
load address and try to jump to 0x2badb002.

Patch to add Symbols/segments loader for mboot.c
Hello,
I use Tim's mboot.c32 to load multiboot kernels over pxelinux. However, some
kernels require the symbol table and other information in the ELF section
header table to be able to load properly. This functionality is not present
in mboot.c now, so I added support for it.
The patch is attached. It would be great if you can push this into the next
release of syslinux so ELF multiboot

Syslinux 6.03-pre7: EFI64 broken (Gene Cumm)
Gene,
Where did you find the precompiled binaries for syslinux 6.03-pre7?
Actually, I'm interested in the pre-compiled binaries for syslinux
6.03-pre6.
I went out to kernel.org, but the latest they have is 6.02. Which appears
to have an endian problem in its TFTP client code (when syslinux.efi tries
to connect to the TFTP server, attempts to connect to UDP port 17664
instead of 69).

SYSLINUX 3.55-pre5 and 3.60-pre7 - RC status
Hi all,
I have just pushed out SYSLINUX 3.55-pre5 and 3.60-pre7. I have decided
to give them both release candidate status, with the intent of having a
simultaneous 3.55 (bug fixes only) and 3.60 (new functionality) release.
Please test them out and let me know how they do.

mboot hangs at MPI
I'm attempting to PXE boot a XEN dom0 kernel version 2.6.16, xen version
3.0.2-2. I've built syslinux-3.20-pre8 from source and am using the
following config:
DEFAULT mboot.c32 xen-3.0.2-2.gz dom0_mem=258048 --- vmlinuz-2.6.16-xen0 ro
console=ttyS0 root=/dev/sda1 --- initrd.img
Where initrd.img is my own custom initrd that I've built to do some
pre-setup before booting to the real

EDD error RE: Re: SYSLINUX 2.12-pre7 released
I have an application/program which shows 'bios EDD error' when using Isolinux
(with either loading an image directly through MEMDISK, or booting to A:), and not when using a bootdisk directly or booting a bootdisk directly which has SYSLINUX on it.
configuration:
bootable cdrom with Isolinux 2.11/2.12pre9 as bootloader.
1.44MB bootdisk with MSDOS.SYS/IO.SYS and the UDMA2 dos driver,

Using pxelinux mboot.c32 to multiboot Solaris
Hi All,
Now that we have multiboot capable pxelinux, thanks to mboot.c32,
I decided to try and remove pxegrub from my x86 jumpstart infrastructure
since, in theory, pxelinux can now do it all.
The problem I'm having is I'm not very sure I'm following Tim's documentation
correctly... I'm not 100% what comes after the --- and whether the Sun kernel
needs it's arguments

Syslinux 5.11-pre7 not working
Hi,
I am a happy user of version 4.06 and have been hoping to upgrade the 5.x series (for the HTTP bits).
I have the following problems with the 5.11-pre7 build:
1. TFTP load is horribly slow ... even when the two REAL machines are connected to the same switch.
For a typical RHEL installation, the vmlinuz loads ... the initrd.img loads very very slowly and just times out (I waited over 10 mins)

SYSLINUX 3.32-pre7 release candidate
I'm going to promote SYSLINUX 3.32-pre7 to release candidate unless
someone objects, with the intent of releasing 3.32 immediately after
Christmas. Please let me know if there are problems that should make me
*not* do so, even if you have previously reported them.

Syslinux 3.80-pre7
I have just pushed out Syslinux 3.80-pre7. I am slightly concerned
about putting this into the release tree at this point: I was working
with some of the shuffler code, and found that the memory map handling
was actually severely buggy on some of my test cases. Resolving that
problem took rewriting most of syslinux_add_memmap().
However, against better judgement :) I decided to check in the

Another GPLPV pre-release 0.9.11-pre7
I''ve just uploaded 0.9.11-pre7. save/restore should be working for 32
bits on both SMP and UP, and maybe for 64 bits although it''s not tested.
If someone could test migration it would be much appreciated.
The installer seems to not install the drivers under 64 bit
environment... but they can then be installed manually. Not sure why at
this point.
