CentOS 6 PXE boot:Unable to download the kickstart file
We have CentOS 6 manual installation working by PXE booting from a RHEL5.6 PXE/TFTP server. However, when we add a Kickstart file in the PXE configuration: kernel CentOS-6-i386/vmlinuz append load_ramdisk=1 initrd=CentOS-6-i386/initrd.img network ks=nfs:130.226.86.4:/u/rpm/kickstart/ks-centos-6-clean-i386.cfg then the CentOS 6 client install reports "Unable to download the

[PATCH] fix issues from latest commits
hi, attacched a couple of patches that fix: - a variable may be used unitialized in swfdec_audio_decoder.c - swfdec_init.c got referenced in swfdec/Makefile.am but it's not in git, i've removed it but maybe the right fix is to add it instead Still not able to compile swfdec (shadow warnings), will follow other patches if you don't beat me to it. cheers, rm -------------- next

PXE-Kernel crashes with "RAMDISK: incomplete write ..." after modifiying initrd.img
Hi, to install current PC models (with new Intel NICs) via Kickstart/PXE, I wanted to add the newest e1000e-Treiber to initrd.img. With this modified image, the Kickstart kernel crashes with the following error messages: [...] md: Autodetecting RAID arrays. md: autorun ... md: ... autorun DONE. RAMDISK: Compressed image found at block 0 RAMDISK: incomplete write (20480 != 32768) 6062080

totem fails to open .wmv file
Hey All, Totem has stopped playing .wmv files recently. I don't know exactly when this happened, but I know I've played .wmv files not too very long ago. I've got 372 .wmv files all of which I've played at one time. When I try to launch any one of the .wmv files from file manager totem pops up but the controls are not functional. If I start totem from a terminal there is no

Access across routers
Greetings, I have an interesting situation where SAMBA servers that are across various routers are requiring the fully qualified domain name. Example: \\xyx.nrl.navy.mil. If our SAMBA server is local (behind the same router as our client), then the \\xyx name will work fine.... This allows you to connect, but if you are browsing the network neighborhood, and you double click on the \\xyx when

PXE / Kickstart / nfs ....
hello there, I wonder if you could help me: I am trying to install 50 diskless servers using PXE / kickstart, it all starts well, DHCP server issues a dynamic address, tftp issues the kickstart file, the client starts reading the KS file but at some point anaconda brings up an unhandled exception related to Python when reading Comps.xml?? What is really unsettling is the fact that if I plug

How to PXE kickstart hosts with little memory (Error: "Warning: /dev/root does not exist")?
Hi, while kickstarting our virtual machines with PXE we often run into kickstart/anaconda failing with [...] [...] dracut-mount[xxx]: Warning: Can't mount root filesystem [...] dracut-mount[xxx]: Warning: /dev/root does not exist [...] dracut-mount[xxx]:/lib/dracut-lib.sh: line 1030: echo write error: No space left on device Starting Dracut Emergency Shell... CentOS 5.1 install via PXE Failure
Hi All, This has to be something simple....but it's really busting my chops. We have a PXE boot server that is used for initial installation of a number of operating systems and it works well. However the CentOS 5.1 x86_64 install is seriously broken. We've made the PXE boot images available from "centos/5/os/x86_64/images/pxeboot/" in the tftp boot etc. We've rsynced

PXE boot, Kickstart NFS install and %include...
I was just wondering how (or indeed if) people use the %include directive in Kickstart configuration files when building systems via NFS. I've been trying to modularise our Kickstart files a little to make things more readable, having generic defaults and role specific stuff split out into separate configs. I've tried this configuration... [root at archive kickstart]# cat

Centos7 kickstart & pxe
Hello All, I'm trying to get kickstart to work through pxe. So far I've set up dhcp server, tftp and so on. But it seems at some point I always get stuck because the iso file is write-protected. I've tried remounting it rw, and I 've dd the iso first, I then get EM not a block device. Any help would be appreciated. Greetings, J.

gstreamer on Mac OS X
Has anyone gotten this to work? Configure always tells me the development files are not found for base plugins... maybe they need to be in a different location than I have them... I know this was true for gsm which I finally got working after having to manually make dylibs and subfolders in my includes... I have installed, with development files... gstreamer, along with the base and good

PXE install in a boot on san with LVM environment, fails after reboot
Hello, I need to automate installation of CentOS 7.0 using PXE and kickstart. My server is diskless, I'm installing CentOS on a 25GB LUN on a FC SAN with 4 paths. This LUN is the only one accessible by the server. Anaconda processes successfully the installation. But on reboot, I get stuck on a prompt after BIOS. I think I have an issue with storage configuration / bootloader

Installing image via PXE
Hello, I'm not sure whether I'm mailing to the correct list. Please, after taring and feathering, point me to a correct list, in case I'm wrong. I would like to install, or maybe better transfer?, an image I created with dd from a server to the client via pxe. I know that there is a bunch of OSS out there doing a great job administering a bunch of images for server farms, etc.
