Gnome print manager. Nobody knows ?
Hi all, I got no answers to my last post so I try one more time. I really can't find the info on the Centos mailing list archive. I'm sure that it is an easy question.... I want to use the gnome print manager (in order to manage the print queue) but the icon is not available in : Main menu -> System tools. Does anybody knows in which package it is contained or how to launch it

Customizing Gnome
This is not really CentOS specific, but I'm using and supporting Gnome on CentOS 4.3 systems, and there are a few Gnome issues that I haven't been able to resolve that I thought this list might be able to help with. On my home CentOS 4.3 system, which was originally a CentOS 3.X system (i.e., I ran Gnome from the same user account then as I do now), when I log in to the Gnome

Help with gnome terminal
I am experiencing a problem with gnome terminal, most likely caused by something that I have done and which I need to undo. The problem is that somehow the gnome configuration has been changed so that the "Contents" menu item under "Help" in Gnome Terminal has the character "space" mapped as a keyboard accelerator. I would prefer that this be mapped to just about

nm-applet, wirless, and CentOS 6
I have a strange problem and I know I am doing things way outside of the box. First of all I don't like Gnome or really any of the mess-windows flavored desktop systems and no, I don't like the MacOSX flavored desktop systems (like Ubuntu's Unity) either. The 'desktop' system (if you could have called it that) that I learned on was DEC's 'DecWindows' system on

Gnome Desktop Questions?
I have a couple of oddities that I hope someone here can clarify for me. OS = CentOS-5.2 all updates applied to date. 1. On the gnome desktop in the top panel (or menu bar) I have an icon for "System Monitor" which runs the application "gnome-system-monitor". On my other desktop CentOS-5.2 system I have the same thing. However, one one system the icon gives me a real time

Hi, i was tracing some problems with the ms train simulator. I have found a problem never seen before and have no explanation. I could run the program by clicking the icon on my desktop. Then i want to debug the program and copy/paste the commandline from the desktop-icon to a gnome-terminal and press enter. The app started but gives me an error like ... has a problem detected... Problem with gnome
Hi all, I am using Centos 4.1 with Gnome and my updates are OK (When I do yum update, I have nothing anymore) Normally, with GNOME there's a task bar in the bottom of the screen. If we open an application and we minimize its window, it is always avalaible in this task bar. There are other things in this task bar : a button on the left which is used to minimize all the opened windows and

Installing a gnome-desktop on CENTOS-6.3 following minimal system install.
I am still trying without much success to get a desktop on my minimal + virtualization install of a CentOS-6.3 kvm host. When I run startx I get a desktop but other than the icons for computer, home and trash there is nothing displayed. I can right click the mouse and from there I can open a terminal window and creat a folder on the desktop but I have no title bar and no status bar. There are

Custom user profile for GNOME 3?
Hi, I wonder where - and eventually how - GNOME 3 stores its user preferences. I'd like to create a custom user profile, with slightly different settings than the default ones: * don't show home folder on ~/Desktop * don't show Trash * use custom default wallpaper * stretch wallpaper instead of zooming * use different default icon theme * etc. Until now I've done this

[fdo] .desktop .menu and icons with autotools
Hi all, I want to manage .desktop, .menu and icon files of a project (Wormux) with autotools. Does it exist some doc about this ? I had a look at Amarok sources and I could install the .desktop with the following in my Makefile.am : xdg_appsdir = $(datadir)/applications xdg_apps_DATA = wormux.desktop Are there some similar variables for icons and .menu files ? Furthermore I saw on some Gnome

Centos 7: Remove Gnome from GDM options
When you click on the gear icon on the GDM login screen, it provides a list of the available desktop environments so you can pick between them. Since I exclusively use Mate on this computer, how can I remove the other options from that menu? Earlier today when I logged in the machine decided on its own that what I really wanted was Gnome Classic, so I had to log out to change it back to Mate,
