SYSLINUX-3.52-pre5: XP BOOTSEC.BIN Bug
I just encountered my only bug w/ the ISOLINUX+VESAMENU combination from 3.52-pre5. Updated a *working* CD project w/ the new ISOLINUX+VESAMENU combo just last week. Booting my preferred Linux distro (Slax-6) from my custom CDs work perfectly, however when I updated a CD project that includes BartPE/WinPE, BartPE fails to boot w/ 'CDBoot can not boot CD: error 4" msg. OFF TOPIC: Chainloading CD-ROM boot after ISOLINUX + MEMDISK.
Hi, This is off topic for this list, but someone on this list may be able to point me in the right direction. For a couple of years I have been using ISOLINUX + MEMDISK and Smart Boot Manager to chainload a CD-ROM boot after loading a floppy image into RAM with MEMDISK. My problem now is that Smart Boot Manager does not support/detect SATA optical drives used in new hardware. Does anyonw

Need help chainloading from isolinux.
i am trying to use chain.c32 with isolinux to load WinPE/BartPE/etc and I can not get it to work. I have tried with the simple.c32, and just from the isolinux prompt. I have tried 3.32-pre6, 3.20, and jumped back and tried 3.08. All configurations fail with 'Cannot read Master Boot Record'. The boot sectors are known to be good, and are known to work with chain.c32 with pxelinux.

EDD error RE: Re: SYSLINUX 2.12-pre7 released
I have an application/program which shows 'bios EDD error' when using Isolinux (with either loading an image directly through MEMDISK, or booting to A:), and not when using a bootdisk directly or booting a bootdisk directly which has SYSLINUX on it. configuration: bootable cdrom with Isolinux 2.11/2.12pre9 as bootloader. 1.44MB bootdisk with MSDOS.SYS/IO.SYS and the UDMA2 dos driver,

ISOLinux problem--Multiple CD-ROM's
Currently, I have 2 CD-ROM's, 1 IDE, 1 SCSI. ISOLinux works great on the IDE but fails out on the SCSI. I have an Adaptec AHA-2940UW with the BIOS loading the drive. Are you aware of a problem with this controller? __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Yahoo! Health - Feel better, live better http://health.yahoo.com

suggestions for installing CentOS 5 via USB?
I'm having problems installing CentOS via a USB drive. First, I tried using Unetbootin, but with no avail. The 8MB netinstall doesn't work, and the big DVD image doesn't work either. http://lubi.sourceforge.net/unetbootin.html Then I tried this http://www.pendrivelinux.com/usb-centos-5-live-install-via-windows/ with a CentOS DVD file, and that did not work (just hangs). I tried

CD-ROM won't boot. BIOS problem?
Hi, I'm having trouble booting my system using the SuSE 9.0 installer CD at ftp://ftp.suse.com/pub/suse/i386/9.0/boot/boot.iso (ISOLINUX 2.06). My system is a Kontron cPCI-DT64 single board computer. The CD-ROM drive is an Adtron IC6C, has its own IDE controller and sits in another cPCI slot. System Details: System BIOS - PhoenixBIOS 4 Release 6.0, cPCI-DT64 BIOS 2.5 Adapter BIOS - Sil

Booting a bootable CD-ROM
Hello, I am working on a legacy BIOS extension that is used to provide a centralised and managed boot process for a secure environment. Due to an assortment of reasons the access to hard disk / CD-ROM devices has had to be implemented at a low level (reading/writing IDE controller registers) rather than relying on the int 13h services provided by the system BIOS. Booting hard disks is working

Syslinux Bootsector
Hi! Facing a strange problem about not being able to access the floppy drive after booting from a rescue-floppy with 2.2.x kernel on an asus p4te mainboard, i searched the net and found a bug in the bootsector of the 2.2.x kernels. Before control is redirected to the kernel, the floppy drive is shut down in a way, that freezes the FD-Controller on recent mainboards (like the ASUS P4T-E). The

Windows harddisk images.
Hello all, I've been following this project with interest, and have had great fun implementing Isolinux within the FreeDOS cdrom distribution. Since I'm not that an expert at Linux, I would like to know how I can *succesfully* generate a bootable image from a partition. Situation is like this: (640MB RAM on system) 60GB IDE harddisk, primary partition 1 win98 500MB extended partition

isolinux cd hangs at booting kernel
I've created a bootable cd with isolinux but it can't load the kernel. It detects everything fine, decompresses the initrd, loads and decompresses the kernel and then tries to boot the kernel. But after that the computer hangs. Here's the screen dump: ISOLINUX 1.73 2002-05-26 Copyright (C) 1994-2002 H. Peter Anvin isolinux: Starting up, DL = 9F isolinux: Loaded spec packet OK,

How to Create an ISOLinux Bootable CD Question
Peter, First, I'm not a programmer and I don't have Linux. The reason I am emailing you is that I spend the two weeks looking over your site and other trying to figure out " HOW to create an ISOLinux image or convert my existing ISO image to and ISOLinux image. I have some software called" Flashboot" that can take and ISOLinux image and can create a bootable Flash drive of

How to boot a compressed CD-ROM image from disk
I'd like to take advantage of the small, compressed Linux systems such as Knoppix or BeatrIX, but I can't have a CD rom on my system. (A project's marketing requirement.). So I figure I could use something like SYSLINUX or ISOLINUX to do it for me, but there is some magic in the process (the sequence of booting) that eludes me. 1/ mbr (from SYSLINUX) installed on hard drive... and

Patch for chain.c32: Set default boot drive to CD drive from which ISOLINUX is booted
chain.c32 of SYSLINUX 3.82 does set the boot drive passed to the DL register to 0x80 and not to the boot drive (CD-drive). This can be a problem if you want to chainload grldr (grub4dos bootloader) from a CD and if you want to let grldr search for its menu.lst file on the CD. For more info: http://www.boot-land.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=8457 This 1 line patch fixes the issue (Thanks to

isolinux not booting - old 486 with SCSI CD writer
I am trying to install Debian Linux on an an old Intel Classic R+ computer that uses an internal Yamaha SCSI CD writer model CRW8424S connected to an Adaptec ISA SCSI card (I think its a 1542CP). The CD writer is is the only device connected to the SCSI card. The computer has one hard drive connected to the on-board IDE interface, a 1.44MB 3 1/2 inch floppy and a 1.2MB 5 1/4 inch floppy. The hard
