SYSLINUX 3.10-pre19 -- definitely a release candidate
I just pushed out SYSLINUX 3.10-pre19. This version adds symlink support for EXTLINUX. As part of the process of implementing that, I ran into a somewhat embarrassing bug in the menu support, which I fixed, however, if any of you have a chance to test especially menu.c32 on as many derivatives as possible (SYSLINUX, PXELINUX, ISOLINUX, EXTLINUX) I would greatly appreciate it. I've done

Syslinux 4.00-pre59 -- last call for 4.00
Hello everyone, I have just released Syslinux 4.00-pre59. This is intended as last call for 4.00: from this point on I will only fix showstopper bugs. Anything that didn't make this release will have to wait for 4.01 or 4.10. Please help test it and report bugs, so we can avoid said showstopper bugs in the actual release. Target date for final release is Monday, June 28. -hpa

Memdisk/floppy image question
Here is the script I put together now. I hope I haven't overlooked anything. You might need to modify the first section of variables to suit your setup. Ofcourse you need to run this as root. May be some version of this should be included with syslinux? Basically given an existing floppy image, it creates a larger image and copies its contents over and sets up the bootsector of the

isolinux 3.10-pre20 doesn't work at all
I tried isolinux 3.10-pre20 on an Acer Aspire 1501LMi notebook and a Shuttle FS-40 desktop box; it fails on both, simply hanging after printing the first line. Last known good version is 3.10-pre16; will try pre17-pre19 when I have some time.

DOS/Freedos: Can't use mkfloppyimg.sh or mkdiskimage for +8M images ( Murali (????? ?????) )
Sorry for the delay, I should not send email on an holiday week-end. I'll try to answer all the questions by explaining what does work for me right now, and what I'd like to do. I have a script to create the a USB stick or an ISO image. The boot media contains many DOS images, and I use versamenu to select one of them. If my DOS image is smaller than 8megs, everything is working fine as

DOS/Freedos: Can't use mkfloppyimg.sh or mkdiskimage for +8M images ( Solved)
Hi, I did found the problem, a combination of 2 factor. 1- I taught that I did install the latest syslinux, but in fact it was the 3.36 version. 2- Thank to kevin Connelly, he point me to a problem he got with mkdosfs command. The default FAT16 do not work, but the FAT12 do. By adding -F12 to the mkdosfs command fix the problem. The default F16 do seem to work for <8M floppy image. Thank you

SYSLinux/ISOLinux question
Look into the original XP cd and see where NTLDR is located, then place it on your cd in the same directory and it 'should' work. I have created some 2000 XP boot cd's with integrated recent service pack's and they still boot. But I do that with cdrecord+original boot sector, not with any isolinux stuff... But I hope this help! -----Original Message----- From: G. Murali

SYSLINUX 3.35-pre5 released -- release candidate
Hi all, I have released SYSLINUX 3.35-pre5 to the Testing directory; this is a release candidate and I intend to release this as 3.35 early next week unless I hear of any showstopper bugs, so please, pretty please, try it out. http://www.kernel.org/pub/linux/utils/boot/syslinux/Testing/ kernel.org has been overloaded lately, so it might take a while to show up. Changes in 3.35: *

SYSLINUX 2.09-pre4
I have just released SYSLINUX 2.09-pre4 with a few changes: a) SYSLINUX should now correctly handle mode changes from within a COMBOOT program. b) Tweaks to the menu system to avoid the "grey text on black" problem. c) A new color scheme for the menu system (Murali, check it out and see if you think it works for you.) ftp://ftp.kernel.org/pub/linux/utils/boot/syslinux/Testing/

(short notice) Cambridge LLVM Social tomorrow (Wednesday)
Hello various people, A few LLVM folk are in town for the ARM researchers gathering towards the end of the week and we discussed briefly the idea of having a small pub outing for them this week. It looks as if Wednesday is the best day, so let’s aim to go back to the Fort St George[1]. The weather is supposed to be warm again this week (though I’m sure Renato will strive to organise rain for

SYSLINUX 2.10-pre2 is out
I have released SYSLINUX 2.10-pre2. I *really* would like testing reports for this one, especially ISOLINUX, since I've included Knut Petersen's fix for Award BIOSes... Changes in 2.10: * MEMDISK: Handle images compressed with zip as well as with gzip. Some Windows-based image tools apparently generate these kinds of images by default. Patch by Patrick

More features in Syslinux 2.08
As far as I know the only thing close to that, is to boot DOS from a floppy image (stored on the CD). The floppy image will contain the CD drivers and hence you can use DOS to access the contents of the CD. The floppy image is usually stored in the "boot sector" of the CD, or if you are using utilities like ISOLINUX, then they can be stored on the CD, and ISOLINUX/memdisk can boot

Last call for fixes: Releasing tomorrow
I think I''ve got every fix except one in that''s going to make it into grover, which I''ll hopefully be releasing tomorrow. I plan on adding Tim Stoop''s patches for home directory management (#432), but everything else is getting pushed to the next release at this point. I''ve fixed all of the major bugs, or at least I think I have. If

SYSLINUX 3.20-pre12 released
Hi all, I have just pushed out SYSLINUX 3.20-pre12. This version fixes a long-standing stack overflow bug which kicks in after exiting from a COMBOOT or COM32 program too many times; this happens easily when using nested menus in the simple menu system. At this point I consider the feature set of 3.20 closed. I want to try to find the regression in ISOLINUX if at all possible before
