boot bootcd (isolinux) copied on the hard disk
Hi, I try to boot some bootcd copy on the hard drive. I read (an try) that it's impossible to boot a cdrom .ISO image . ok So now I "unzip" the .iso into a folder (not a partition ! Because I have lot of .iso), and convert the entry from the isolinux.cfg to a valid grub entry (put in my menu.lst). The iso come from a bootable cd with isolinux. I will make a script for the

Isolinux on hard disk?
I'm succesfully using isolinux for bootable cd creating, but I want to emulate work with cdrom using hard disk (I have not cd writer at home). Is it possible to use small hard disk as cdrom equivalent? How to do it? I tried using the /dev/hdc1 as output file of isolinux, and after moving disk as primary master and rebooting, bios says that bootrecord is found on IDE-0 and... nothing. It

Booting a bootable CD-ROM
Hello, I am working on a legacy BIOS extension that is used to provide a centralised and managed boot process for a secure environment. Due to an assortment of reasons the access to hard disk / CD-ROM devices has had to be implemented at a low level (reading/writing IDE controller registers) rather than relying on the int 13h services provided by the system BIOS. Booting hard disks is working

syslinux/ioslinux direct support for bootable iso images
Hi all, Is there some way of syslinux or isolinux providing direct support for boot iso bootable images? I can use syslinux/isolinux to boot different ramdisks and floppy disks images fine on a single CD-ROM disk. But I want to use syslinux/isolinux to boot different bootable iso images from a single CDROM disk. Any ideas? Thanks in advance. New! Give your email a serious boost ...

[PATCH 3/3] syslinux: support isolinux configuration files
This one is the most critical for my app, but also possibly the most controversial to integrate. A few applications that convert isolinux ISOs to bootable USB, including mine, copy the ISO content to a VFAT formatted partition and then add syslinux to make it bootable. This would work great... if isolinux and syslinux shared the same defaults when it comes to configuration files.

ISOLINUX problem booting with no Hard Disk
I am experiencing a problem booting a machine with ISOLINUX on a machine that has no hard drive (CD-ROM only). I've tried two different machines, a Dell Poweredge 2600 and a Dell Poweredge 1300, both exhibit identical symptoms. When I boot the exact same cd on a system with a hard drive, the boot is just fine. I had been using ISOLINUX 1.66, but I just upgraded to 2.02 and I am having the

ISOLINUX help requested (checksum error)
Hi Mr Anvin, after downloading the Freedos bootable cd, which now uses your projects (ISOLINUX & MEMDISK) instead of Bart Lagerweij's DISKEMU (www.nu2.nu), I contacted the creator of the freedos cdrom. I was interested in how he did make that cd bootable. Now I understand it a bit. As I'm a MS Windows user, I had to figure some things out. However, upon booting I get a beautiful

isolinux puzzle
Peter, Thank you for isolinux. What a relief to be rid of floppy images! ISOLINUX works great except in one puzzling instance. I recently upgraded my system with a Promise Ultra 133 (PDC20269) controller. In order to boot from either the hard drive or CDROM drive connected to this controller I set the boot device in the motherboard BIOS to SCSI. Everything seemingly works great. Until we get

bootable floppy image question
Hello, I'd be very grateful if someone can help me with the process of creating bootable floppy images to be used with isolinux/memdisk. I usually do the following: label image kernel memdisk append initrd=/bootdisk/image.img floppy (lines in isolinux.cfg file) Sometimes I pass memdisk the c/h/s parameters, depending on the image size. I have learned from this mailing list how to
