BartPE over PXE
Turns out that I did not have a corrupted ISO file and tftp-hpa is not at fault. I had saved the winnt.sif file in a unix format and for reasons that are not clear this was producing the error message telling me txtsetup.sif is missing or corrupt. One would think the parsing of the file would cause the inability to locate the ISO file to be downloaded since that information is the last line in the

Large files timeout
I am trying to download a 200MB ISO file and each time I attempt to do so it will timeout after around 30 MB. I've used both a Microsoft and a FreeBSD tftp client with the same results. When PXE booting a pc and letting it download the ISO it either hangs halfway through or the ISO appears to be corrupted when trying to boot to it from ramdisk. I am looking for suggestions on how to

problem booting msdos with memdisk
I have the same problem. I can not boot a floppy disk. Once I did it but no longer I can do this. I think there is some problem in the new versions of PXELinux. -----Original Message----- From: syslinux-bounces at zytor.com [mailto:syslinux-bounces at zytor.com] On Behalf Of Quinn Plattel Sent: Thursday, September 28, 2006 7:04 PM To: syslinux at zytor.com Subject: Re: [syslinux] problem booting

How do I join a samba 3 client to a samba 4 AD server?
Hi, I have set up a standard samba4 server via http://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Samba4/HOWTO and have tested that windows machines can join the samba4 AD. Now I am trying to join an Ubuntu machine to the same samba4 ad but it is failing for me with the following message: # net ADS JOIN -U Administrator Enter Administrator's password: Failed to join domain: failed to lookup DC info for domain

Linux SSO with samba4?
Hi, I think it is great that samba4 has a single sign on solution for Windows platforms and it seems to work well too, but I am wondering is it possible to do the same for a Linux environment? I have been studying how to implement single sign on using the Ubuntu way through this document: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/SingleSignOn and I am wondering if I can do the same with samba4 where the

How do I get an ssh client to authenticate with samba4's kerberos GSSAPI? [Solved]
Hi, I solved my ssh GSSAPI problem. There were a lot of solutions on google referring to a proper fqdn in the /etc/hosts file and having the fqdn's/principals in the kerberos server's keytab file but I found out that my problem was that the samba4/kerberos server was running on a multi-homed machine and that the ssh server kerberos authentication needed the following parameter in order

splitting services in samba4
Question: Right now samba4 is great as in all-in-one solution (samba, kerberos, ldap, dns) into one service. Is it possible to split it up so that for example, I run openldap on one server, kerberos on another server, and then dns/samba on a third server? br, Quinn

How do I get an ssh client to authenticate with samba4's kerberos GSSAPI?
Hi, I am doing some kerberos testing with samba4 using ssh. I have setup samba4 using the howto at http://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Samba4/HOWTO and active directory seems to be working both with Windows and Linux clients. ssh unfortunately is not kerberos authenticating via GSSAPI. The client krb5.conf contains this: ===================================================== [libdefaults]

nslcd service - "Client not found in Kerberos database"
Hi, I am trying to configure the nslcd service on an Ubuntu client for kerberos authentication against samba4. memdisk and OS/2
Has anyone managed to get OS/2 to fully boot via Syslinux's memdisk? I have played around with it a bit both as a floppy image and a hard disk image, but either it hangs when loading IBMINT13.I13 driver or doesn't load any .ADD driver and stops saying it cannot find COUNTRY.SYS (it needs at least one .ADD disk driver loaded before it can continue accessing the boot device). memdisk and usb flash devices as primary hard drives.
Has anybody tried to boot a dos disk via memdisk with a usb flash device as a primary hard drive? I have a 512MB flash key that when connected becomes my primary hard drive (new bios) - 0x80. If I boot a MS-DOS 7.10 floppy, one gets the command prompt and I can see the contents of my flash key as drive C:. But, if I make a image of the floppy and boot the image via memdisk, then memdisk

Understanding kerberos principals in samba4
Hi, When I have a service on a client that tries to use kerberos and I get errors such as these in the log.samba file: Kerberos: UNKNOWN -- host/ubuntu-test.mydomain.net @ MYDOMAIN.NET: no such entry found in hdb Does this mean that the kerberos authentication system is looking for the principal "host/ubuntu-test.mydomain.net @ MYDOMAIN.NET" in samba4's domain or in the

memdisk and booting DOS images
Hello, I seemed to have encountered a problem with memdisk that I have seen before when I was playing around with USB device booting at one time. Here's the scenario: Take fx a image of a PC DOS bootable diskette. Boot the image via memdisk. This should boot fine if you use the built-in motherboard ide controllers (ide0,ide1). Now install a PCI IDE controller and put one IDE disk on the

failover strategies - failing open vs. failing closed.
I''d like to setup a box with 2 NICs as a firewall which will also rate limits outbound traffic. What happens when/if that box hangs or is rebooted? I''d like a solution that when there is a failure, traffic can still go through the box even though the firewall and rate limiting functions will no longer be in effect. I believe that this is "failing closed" but have

Timeout
Good morning, I think SYSLINUX is the bootloader for several Linux disb CDs. Please forgive me if I am wrong, as it difficult to discover that information. http://syslinux.zytor.com/faq.php#whatisnot After reading that text, is that just modesty, or these Distributions should be using something else? :) I have been testing the new debian installer: http://www.debian.org/devel/debian-installer/

Beryl and Compiz Merge: What's actually going on?
Compiz and Beryl merge: What's really going on? Recently Quinns post to the beryl-dev mailing list entitled 'Merge on' has led to a lot of discussion, some of which has been good and some of which has led to a lot of misinformation, to clear things up I'd like to give the story of the merge, and the justification for some of the more peculiar aspects. Basically lets try to avoid

Memory leak
I'm using Samba 3.0204 on SUSE 10 as a backup for our file server. The file server contains over a million files in around 90000 directories. I use xxcopy from the file server to update the SUSE machine. In KDE System Guard the process table shows smbd creeping up towards 200MB at around halfway through the backup. The machine only has 256MB and becomes unusable around this point. What can
