EDD error RE: Re: SYSLINUX 2.12-pre7 released
I have an application/program which shows 'bios EDD error' when using Isolinux
(with either loading an image directly through MEMDISK, or booting to A:), and not when using a bootdisk directly or booting a bootdisk directly which has SYSLINUX on it.
configuration:
bootable cdrom with Isolinux 2.11/2.12pre9 as bootloader.
1.44MB bootdisk with MSDOS.SYS/IO.SYS and the UDMA2 dos driver,

ElTorito from Floppy (was: Re: Can I use...)
a member of the FreeDOS project has transformed Smart Boot Manager into a COM32 module for Syslinux. Might be a bit more usefull than Syslinux -> memdisk -> imagefile -> Smart Boot Manager ( -> 'boot from cd -> cdrom )
I've inserted it into this diskette image:

Where to obtain (how to build) small enough workablekernel?
rename the VMlinuz*.* to file 'vmlinuz' (no quotes ofcourse).
a bootfloppy leaves me enough diskspace, not 860KB.
format as FAT12 (ofcourse),
install Syslinux
(I do this on Win2K with syslinux.exe A:, win9x: syslinux.com A:)
my example: http://www.fdos.org/ripcord/beta9rc4/fdboot.img
unfortunately no Linux involved.
If I could only show a Knoppix bootfloppy (but it's part of a

Newbie RIS Replacement
Doing a lot of RTFM lately about PXE. I have done xCAT builds but want
to take the voodo out of the process so I can control and understand the
whole system. I am new to PXE technology and so consider me ignorant.
The current server is a MS RIS server and I am attempting to migrate our
facility to use Linux / PXE instead.
First stage: take existing DOS bootnet floppy and convert to boot from

git running very slow
Hello Tim,
Thank you for the information.
I am wondering if anyone else is facing the same issue? Or it is just that
my institute firewall is creating the problem.

[GSoC] Polly as an Analysis pass in LLVM
Hi Utpal,
This is a nice proposal :)
Can you submit it through the GSoC interface please? I don't see it in the list of applications.
Note that the deadline for the final submission is Friday 7pm UTC.
Best,

[GSoC] Polly as an Analysis pass in LLVM
Hello All,
I would like to propose "Polly as an Analysis pass in LLVM
<https://docs.google.com/document/d/1QyUzL3OOwJSI91lDqr7VsvqUsFyTY9FlpAwbGSipUtw/edit>"
as my project for this years GSoC.
The broad idea is to provide an API to Polly's dependence framework and
integrate it to Loop Vectorizer.
Kindly share your thoughts and help me improve the proposal.

git running very slow
Hi All,
git is running very slow for me while cloning from llvm.org/git/llvm.git
while it is reasonably fast for me cloning from
github.com/llvm-mirror/llvm.git
Please suggest which repo is used by most developers or what alternative I
can use?

MEMDISK bug in Syslinux 3.10
MEMDISK included in the freshly released Syslinux v3.10 is unfortunately
broken. v3.09 works properly.
Scenario:
Isolinux --> MEMDISK --> FDBOOT.IMG (FreeDOS 360KB diskette image).
Then try to access drive B: , which normally is your first diskette
drive with driveletter A:.
However, in this case MEMDISK occupies A:, and real diskdrive becomes B:
Bug:
when accessing B:, you're asked

[GSoC 2016] Introduction - Polly as an Analysis pass in LLVM
Dear All,
I am glad to be part of GSoC 2016 with LLVM organization. I am a first year
PhD student at IIT Hyderabad, India and my research area is compiler
optimizations using polyhedral model.
My GSoC 2016 project is to implement Polly as an Analysis pass in LLVM [1].
We have a discussion on Polly-dev mailing list [2] on taking a better
approach to implement this project. Based upon this

Polly as an Analysis pass in LLVM
Hi ether,
Your suggestion is appropriate with respect to LLVM framework.
However, I am not aware of such a common interface for Dependence Analysis
as there is one for AliasAnalysis.
The current plan is to provide the new Dependence Analysis interface that
can be used when the other analysis engines fail to provide a concrete
result. I do not want to overestimate things by proposing such a common

Dear Community,
I would like to summarize my work till date for GSoC 2016.
Till the current phase of my project, I have mostly focused on developing
the necessary infrastructure to use analysis results from Polly in LLVM.
Initial plan as mentioned in the proposal:
For the first month:-
