PXE Boot
I configure an old Compaq Deskpro workstation to boot LTSP using PXE and DHCP. I have an error that say TFTP Open Timeout after this workstation got it IP Address from DHCP server. I have done some configuration settings, and this workstation can load the kernel (vmlinuz-2-4-18-ltsp-1), but after loading the kernel, there only flashing characters and colors on the screen. I also have do chmod

Report of incompatability [pxelinux] - (long ago fixed)
I've been using pxelinux for automated installs, and it works well. I'm using it on SUSE Linux 8.1, and it has been going well until recently. The TFTP, NFS, and DHCP servers are all on the same system. It uses PXELINUX 1.69 (part of SYSLINUX 1.62 I believe). It installed systems to my slimline Compaq Deskpro Pentium IIIs just fine. Recently, I ran it on a Compaq Deskpro Pentiums

weirdness with PXELINUX
Hey Peter, rest, I'm trying to boot a linux-kernel tru pxelinux, but it hangs while initializing the CPU. When I boot the kernel from floppy everything works, but trying to boot the same kernel with pxelinux results in a choking kernel. If I touch the keyboard after it hangs, it panics. I'm using: - homegrown Linux-2.4.21-preSomething-acSomethingElse (booting well from a floppy disk

Debugging gPXE -> PXELinux -> LTSP
Hi, I'm investigating using LTSP for thin clients at my place of work, and I've encountered a problem that I don't know how to approach. I don't know if the problem is with gPXE, PXELinux, or the LTSP kernel, but I think PXELinux is probably the right level to investigate it. My situation is as follows: I've installed the LTSP system from Ubuntu Gutsy. I've tested it

PXELINUX initrd problem
Hi there I came across this problem with PXELINUX over the last couple of days. The computer in question is a Compaq Prosignia 300 Server which I am using as a X Terminal. The Linux kernel only detects 16m of ram in the computer yet it has 80Meg. When you specify the mem option to kernel it seems as if pxelinux isn't putting the initrd image in the correct memory location and thus it

Shorewall redirect with Squid and Dansguardian
Hi all, I''ve just built Mandrake 10.1 on a Compaq Deskpro that I''ve built as a router/firewall and am redirecting port 80 outbound to force users through the Content Filter. I''ve run this setup on Mandrake 9.0 and 10.0 without any problems but this time the following happens. Squid is accessed through port 3128 and Dansguardian via 8080. If I set my browser on a

pxelinux.0...error: not a valid image; unable to load file
I am trying to update a computer from Fedora Core 4 to Fedora Core 6. My plan is to do this using PXE and a kickstart file. I am implementing the use of an FTP and DHCP server. The computers I am updating are diskless workstations, meaning they have no hard drives and they boot off of the network. I have configured my dhcp.conf file, my ks.cfg (kickstart file), my tftp server and so on, but

multiple default in /pxelinux.cfg
Dear Sir, I am using PXES for booting diskless computer to win2k, and/or LTSP servers. The problem is we have many computers in our lab have different computers, so i require different .initrd files for each group of computers. Can i have different /pxelinux.cfg/default files so that i can define different locations for my boot files. Thanks in advance. Limesh Parekh, Enjay Computer

PXElinux & memdisk
I am trying to acheve pxe booting of a image of barts boot disk (www.nu2.nu). I have managed to get LTSP booting via pxelinux, so I know my dhcp/tftp servers are ok. However when I try to boot memdisk with either a stock suselinux boot image file (taken from SuSE 9.1) or my dos disk (created by dd if=/dev/fd0 of=/imagefile) I get output like MEMDISK 2.08 command line : BOOT_IMAGE=memdisk

PXELINUX GUI menu editor and tools
Hi, LTSP has a few people interested in a pxelinux gui menu editor. I just wanted to check if there would be much interest from this list... If so, maybe someone could give some ideas on the workflow/layout and features. The past few days I've been working on a couple of things such as a drop directory "menus.d" that other programs could put menu configs, xml files, and scripts in

Linux refresh x11 window problem
I have looked through FAQ's and bug reports but found nothing substantial regarding a problem I have with R running under Linux. I have installed R from the current Debian release on a Compaq Deskpro (Pentium 75). I have used a display server called Accelerated X because I could not configure Xfree86 properly for the video card (Compaq QVision). I am using the icewm window manager. Other

debian/dahdi/zaphfc - Unable to receive TEI from network!
Hello, The harddisk of my etch/bristuffed asterisk1.2 box finally died. I moved the cheap (1397:2bd0) HFC-S card to a squeeze host (i686) and built dahdi modules 2.3.0.1 using m-a. After zaptel->dahdi and asterisk 1.2->1.6 config adaptations, everything seems ok, except for the BRI side, unable to bring layers 1/2 up. Asterisk reports: chan_dahdi.c:12393 dahdi_pri_error: 1 Unable to

Winbind: can't log in as domain user
Sorry about the lengthy post - I'm putting as much in here as I can in hopes that someone can help me ferret out the problem. Basic problem is that domain users can't successfully log into the linux box. I'm trying to set this box up as an ltsp server authenticating against our existing AD (although this is actually in a test lab - I didn't really want to trash anything real

How to mount NT share & maintain NT share permission via SMB for LTSP user??
When a regular user (say, "jmc") logs onto my Linux (LTSP, Samba, DHCP) server via his LTSP terminal I need an NT drive share to be mounted with the permissions that NT intends. Our NT file print server has a directory named "private" which contains subdirectories for each user. Each user has NT read/write permissions to his/her private subdir and no others. I need for each

Minimum system requirement for ....
Hi, I need to know from your experience which is the minimum hardware configuration (proc./memory) to run * with two X100P cards and around 10 internal IP phones (from which 4 are hardware ones and use G.711, the rest of them with GSM), with a couple of IAX connections with other Asterisk PBX'es (GSM too). Have someone tried to build a graph about the dependencies between hardware

Question regarding config, not sure if syslinux or tftp-hpa related
Good morning everybody, I'm pretty new to syslinux & tftp-hpa, and so I'm not quite sure where my question belongs to, but I'll try it here first. I want to enhance the network services by offering a LTSP (just for the case the pc or laptop doesn't work for some reasons). And so, for testing, I added a second linux-based system (lets call it system-b). Currently the tftpd
