[memdisk] remote booting diskless Mini-ITX system
Hi,
As the subject suggests, I am trying to remote boot a Mini-ITX system.
I am using PXELinux as the bootloader,
and Memdisk (2.11) as the 'kernel'. My ramdisk image is a hard drive
image based on PC-DOS.
Two things go wrong during the boot process.
1. "INT 13 08: Failure, assuming this is the only drive" message
2. "Loading boot sector... booting..." message,

Large Asterisk installarions (~10, 000 extensions), preferably at universities
Hello,
Our university has to upgrade soon its old Nortel PBX's which holds around
10,000 extensions tied to 5 PBXes. Up to now we thought about commercial
solutions but now there is a window openning for open source solution.
However, I need examples to convince that this solution is feasible, and
preferably at other universities.
Are there any pointers for such installations?

bug (I think) in gpxelinux.0 ?
Hi,
Currently I am building a new PXE boot environment and during that I noticed
something odd while attempting to boot using one of those universal
netbootdisks based on the '3Com Universal NDIS driver v1.00' (aka undis3c)
driver.
Using pxelinux.0 this works like a charm, but when I switch to gpxelinux.0
the 3Com driver bails out on me... all other configuration is the same. Have

I hope someone here can help me a little bit, doing the above.
I have a level 10 log from the samba DC, however, it shows nothing like
"GetNCChanges" anywhere.
It does however show

The Quality & Accuracy of R
Hi All,
We have all had to face skeptical colleagues asking if software made by
volunteers could match the quality and accuracy of commercially written
software. Thanks to the prompting of a recent R-help thread, I read, "R:

Use of R in Regulated Clinical Trial Environments

default Bind on CentOS 4.4 and reverse DNS subnets issue?
Anybody knows if the Bind version on CentOS 4.4 (9.2.4) has issues with
doing reverse DNS for subnets? (networks smaller than /24)
I keep a reverse DNS /26 subnet on Bind 9.3.1 (Fedora) and it works fine.
I've a /27 subnet on CentOS 4 (bind 9.2.4), exactly the same config just
different subnets and addresses, and it does not work. I do a "dig

oplocks and pagemaker files
SuSE 7.2, Samba 2.2.6
User plaform WIN98se
Was wondering if someone could point me to information regarding oplocks (I
read the man on smb.conf regarding that and level2 oplocks)...
I needed to set oplocks = no and level2 oplocks = no in order for them to
be able to open pagemaker files from the samba server...otherwise it would
say 'can not open file'

smbclient -M/session request failed
Hi Folks!
I try to send a popup via "smbclient -M" from a sun (SunOS 5.8, Samba
2.0.7, hostname "sonne") to a WinXP (hostname "dezntmneubeck_x") but it
fails. Both machines are in the same physical network. All I get are the
following lines:

DEC Unix Problems
Samba,
We've been using samba-1.9.16p9 here for a long time, with a tremendous
record of success. I've recently compiled and installed 2.0.0, but am
having problems. Only about half my users can login now, and who's
singled out is *seemingly* random. This is on a DEC Unix 3.2 (osf/1)
machine. Threw the old binaries back on, and everyone's happy again.
What can I do to get

Mapped drive behaviour after Windows reboot
Hello,
I was previously using samba-3.3.3 on my linux machine.
I could 'map a drive' from a Windows XP machine to access files on the linux
machine.
If I rebooted the Windows machine, and tried to access the share again by
clicking on the mapped drive icon, I would be denied, but I would be given a
prompt in which to type in a username and password.

FW: [R] The Quality & Accuracy of R
Dear R Developers,
This is my first time subscribing to this list, so let me start out by saying thank you all very much for the incredible contribution you have made to science through your work on R.
As you all know many users of commercial stat packages, their managers, directors, CIOs etc. are skeptical of R's quality/accuracy. And as the recent NY Times article demonstrated, the

Samba Printing Extremely Slow from Windows XP
Hi,
I have setup samba server on my linux box (Fedora Core 4 with latest
samba, just updated via RHN) and has configured file sharing via samba
for this server and connecting to it from my windows xp box. So far,
everything works fine and it is very fast.
Then, I configured a printer, and shared it via samba. And, I can
see+connect to it from Windows XP and can even print. But, everything

ago, ended in failure. The package in question is cluster 1.9.6 which should
be 2.0.0-ready.

Slightly OT - use of R
I am trying to get a measure of how R compares in usage as a statistical
platform compared to other software. I would guess it is the most widely
used among statisticians at least by virtue of it being open source.
But is there any study to which I can refer? By asking this list I am not
exactly adopting a rigorous approach!
Best wishes
