syslinux booting problem with 3Com PXE server
I use 3Com's PXE server to deploy the RedHat Linux network boot disk for
an ftp install. I have done this for RedHat 7.2 and 7.3. I followed
the same procedure I used for the other RedHat boot disks using the
RedHat 8.0 boot disk and syslinux didn't work. Syslinux boots the
system, gets the boot: prompt and dies. The error message is can not
find ramdisk image and then cannot find

RIS UNDI
Hello,
I'm still trying to setup RIS (Remote Installation Service -w2k)
with PXE Linux, but before that I must say that the mail list
archive is a _good_ idea.
Back to RIS.
When I start from pxelinux
memdisk initrd=risbootdisk.img
I get an error:
No UNDI Driver found.
The risbootdisk.img is a bootdisk from Microsoft, which starts
a RIS installation.
When I boot from floppy it works fine,

Samba 3 as PDC and a Windows 2000 Server for RIS
Hello,
I would like to install a Windows 2000 Server and configure it with RIS
(remote installation services).
The server is in a domain where a Samba 3 server, a machine with SuSE Linux
and Samba 3.0.20b-3.4-SUSE, plays the PDC role. The PDC works well.
When I try to configure RIS in the application wizard (appwiz.cpl) of that
Windows 2000 Server machine, it tells me that the setup for RIS

PXElinux and Windows RIS
I was trying to use my windows RIS server to deploy linux so as to require
user authentication. After seaching the internet I found that it was
possible but not very well explained after alot of tinkering I eventually
got it to work.
Here is my documentation so hopefully others can do it in less time than
I, feel free to comment and improve..

Writeup on PXELINUX and RIS
Christian "Dr. Disk" Henchelmann just sent me a nice writeup on how to
set up PXELINUX and Windoze RIS at the same time. I've posted his
writeup on the web:

I hope this is useful for some people :)

PXELinux Q(s) :)
Real quick background on what I'm doing now, and what I'm trying to do:
We are using PXELinux with VA's SystemImager software to image new servers
over our network. It's been working beautifully since the fall of 2000
using a 2.2 kernel. (Long and short: we bootstrap with PXE, use the initrd
as the root file system, partition, mount and rsync the new drive,
reconfigure, lilo

pxelinux and Windows 2000 RIS
I've put up some notes on my experiences which I hope will be useful to some
people, especially since there is so little information on the Web.
Perhaps they could be added to the pxelinux site.

RIS and PXELINUX
Hi folks,
I'm finally tired of dealing with floppy disks to control our remote installs
and thought that PXELINUX sound like a great way to go. However, I've got
multiple hurdles and I'd like some advice before I get myself dug in too
deep... We currently have Solaris Jumpstart and Windows RIS running in the
department and now we would like to intermix Linux PXELINUX booting.

Configure problems in samba 2.2.4 and 2.2.5 on both Irix and sola ris
I've built samba by hand before , but I've never seen this message,
perhaps you can shed some light. I suddenly can't get past the
./configure script.
./configure --prefix=/usr/samba --with-winbind --with-automount
gives me the following error:

PXELinux over Ris server
Having the same trouble that Mark (
http://www.zytor.com/pipermail/syslinux/2002-March/000244.html)
had over a test platform I have here. Having a redhat 7.3 with dhcp
V3.0rc12 and atftp (0.6.2) on a local
small hub and a W2k Server with RIS installed.
If I stop binlsvc on nt server my network boot run ok to pxelinux,
but as soon as binlsvc is started, RIS server always respond over

RedHat kickstart with PXELINUX
We are attempting to setup an automated system to build some Linux
systems. We have utilised the PXELINUX bootloader after encountering
the PXE 512Kb limit with bootp.
We now have another issue which you may have already run into. In the
DHCP configuration we specify pxelinux.0 as the bootfile, this works
reasonable well, we call the Redhat vmlinuz and initrd.img files

Using virsh blockcopy -- what's it supposed to accomplish?
I am experimenting with the blockcopy command, and after figuring out
how to integrate qemu-nbd, nbd-client and
dumpxml/undefine/blockcopy/define/et. al. I have one remaining question:
What's the point?
The "replication" disk file is not, from what I can ascertain, bootable.
I expect this operation to create a pristine copy of my source qcow2
file (at a given point in time)

FreeCell
I have converted my parent's computer to Linux (Fedora Core 3) and have
down-loaed Crossover and tried to get three applications working.
TurboTax 2004 -> Works great
Peachtree-> Still broken and no error output (this is lower priority)
FreeCell -> Getting error below
Of all the applications I need (for political reasons:>) Freecell is the
most critical. I was NOT expecting this

Integration branch pushed out to btrfs-unstable
Hi everyone,
I''ve pushed out my current kernel git tree to a new branch called
integration-test. This is meant for integration testing only and should
not be run by anyone who doesn''t love crashes.
I''ve pulled together a lot of important work from a lot of different
people. It includes:
The new inode number allocator
Delayed inode and directory item updates

nmb errors overflowing onto console
Hello everyone,
I have a curious problem that seemingly came out of nowhere. After
searching through the archives, I see that I am not the first to discover
this problem, but so far, no solution has been found. In June 99, Mark
Drummond mentioned a similar problem.
Recently, I started seeing nmbd errors on the console. A little poking
around revealed a log file full of these errors. Below is a
