2007 New Zealand Open Source Awards
Anyone using CentOS to do open source things in New Zealand? If so ... nominate yourself here for the 2007 New Zealand Open Source Awards. The best I can tell ... New Zealanders are the organizations / people they want for nominees. The CentOS Project has no (to my knowledge) developers in New Zealand, but if some of the organizations there are using the product, maybe they can nominate

NFSv3 and File operation scripts
Howdy, I wrote a pair of scripts to measure file and NFSv3 operations, and thought I would share them with the folks on the list. You can view the script output by pointing your browser at the following URLs: Per Process NFSv3 Client statistics (inspired by fsstat/nfsstat): http://daemons.net/~matty/code/nfsclientstats.pl.txt Per Process File Operations (inspired by fsstat):

gettext and acts_as_paranoid gives stack overflow
HI all, I just started using acts_as_paranoid, and I''ve been using gettext for a while. Now I get the below errors when I run rake gettext:updatepo. It''s interesting that the errors seem to stack up, so the first file just errors on belongs_to_without_deleted, the second file has a layer of eval, the second has two layers of eval, and so forth. I''ve tried for a while

running office 2000 under wine without windows
Everyone: I downloaded and installed wine-20011108 from source. I am running slackware 8.0 with kernel 2.4.5. I tried installing office 2000 from the CD and captured the resulting error messages. Basically, the setup.exe is complaining about the lack of a "windows installer." Does anyone know any way around this? I recall some trick involving internet explorer being discussed the

Leaflet maps. Nudging co-incident markers
I have a dataset showing points, with a category for each point and its location. I simply want to display my points, in a way that users can toggle the points on and off by category. Where I have two objects in the same category I'd like to display them nudged to appear as two distinct, but very close points. I have made reproduceable example (the places are not real), which is loosely

10 year old question
Thank you for that. I?ve set up the thinstation-v5.6.1.iso in vm and setup the chroot. I did my first ./build ?allmodules and wrote the iso to usb using lili version 2.0 so that I can boot with older syslinux. I am doing this for the needed hardware profile to build from inside the vm however the usb has been stuck on the syslinux version line with a line following: Thinstation..... for 30 minutes

R on Thin Client with Win 2003
I'm having some fun with R on a Windows 2003 Server talking to a Wyse Winterm running Thinstation Linux. The Winterm boots Linux from the network and then runs rdesktop to a Dell 1750 server (dual 3G Xeon or somesuch). The first problem I noticed was that R (and the terminal) ground to a near halt during demo(graphics). Further investigation showed that it seemed to be due to having

RNGkind() state (PR#12567)
I sent this to R-devel early last month, but have received no response, so I guess it really is a bug. This looks like a bug to me, and is a bit hard to describe, but easy to reproduce. ? Basically, if RNGkind is saved as something other than the default, and if the first operation in a session is a set.seed(), the default is reverted to. ?Reproduce by: cafe-rozo> ?R --vanilla R version

Strange Lockup
Hi All, We seem to have a strange problem with our NEC ML4 pcs. When using pxelinux to network boot, we are getting our menu (using menu.c32) when we choose a option the machine just locks up. If the option requires a password it shows the password box , I put in the password and then it locks up. But strangely the machine will boot from local disk which is an option on the boot menu. Our
