pxelinux 2.04+ hangs after loading kernel
Hi,
I just tried to boot my token ring devices with 2.05 - to no avail,
it hangs after loading the kernel. I then tried older versions, and found
2.03 booting like a charm, and every 2.04-pre including 2.04 hanging.
Here's the config of the devices:
- Networkstation 2800 with IBM PCI Token Ring card 2
- IBM Thinkpad T21 with IBM PCI Token Ring card 2
Maybe this has to do with the changes

pxelinux - loading vmlinuz and initrd.gz
Greetings,
Hopefully a quick question.. I have been experimenting with
pxelinux and have noticed the following, when using initrd.gz
- vmlinuz needs to exist 'tftpboot' directory,
else I get an error from pxelinux.
eg. kernel/vmlinuz
- vmlinux also needs to exist in initrd.gz
(in the same relative path eg. kernel/vmlinuz)
else Linux is not booted.

Syslinux 2.10 does not load initrd anymore
Hello all,
I just installed syslinux 2.10 on my usb-stick. It still boots then, but
doesn't load initrd.gz (same config file..).
Reverting back to syslinux 2.09 works fine, eg: initrd.gz is loaded.
Something changed in initrd handling code?

NB I am willing to share you more information or hints how to solve the
problem.

fatal: Not enough entropy in RNG
Hi,
I'm running openssh 2.1.1p4 on Solaris 7 (sparc). Occationally, when I
boot up the server, the startup script I wrote to start sshd fails to start
sshd with the following error:
fatal: Not enough entropy in RNG
What am I doing wrong??
Is there anything I can do to prevent this from happening?
Is just restarting sshd a valid thing to do??
Thanks for any thoughts,
David

Cleaning Up My Process Table
I'm upgrading my primary server from RH 7.2 to CentOS-4.3.ServerCD. I
REALLY like the ServerCD. Who needs all the fluff that comes with a
standard distro? If I want a system-config-gooey I can run Xnest [1]
and ssh -X from my laptop. Anyway I have two questions:
1) How can I collectively stop all the NFS, portmap, whatever? I'm hoping
it can be manipulated as a group because occationally

Memory Usage with openSSH 4.0
I have friends running sshd on their emebedded ppc
linux systems at two universities. Normally sshd takes
about 3M of memory and they have about 16M freemem
showed in /proc/meminfo. But occationally (every 1 or
2 weeks) they see free memory goes down really fast
and they lose 10M in 1 minute. If they disable sshd by
blocking the port access, this does not happen any
more.
The device is not behind

Calls for volunteers (take 2)
Hi all,
I would really appreciate it if someone would be willing to deal with
the messages to the list that get set out for moderation. Most of them
are just round file material, but occationally real messages get stuck.
Also, if someone would be willing to give the documentation and web
pages a very much needed facelift, that would be super. I'm honestly
thinking about hiring a tech

High Pitched Noise
Question:
After about having the server running for about an hour, our callers
occationally hear a high pitched beep that lasts the entire call. In
some cases, the noise doesn't start until a minute or 2 into the call,
while others last the entire call. In some of the more serious cases,
calls are dropped after the noise has occurred as well.
Another symptom has been really bad static on a

cannot transfer to call waiting call on ip500
So far no one I have talked to has either had this issue or does not know a answer. I currently run asterisk 1.0.9.
I have two issues to deal with.
1. The caller waiting caller ID does not show on the uniden hand held that is hooked to a sipura spa 1000 or my Polycom ip500.
2. When a caller is calling in and I hear the caller waiting beep on the line when talking with somone, is there no way

Safe to UNPROTECT() when object is assigned to a list?
Hi,
I'm troubleshooting some native code on Windows that very occationally
(and semi-randomly) crashes R. Already looked at "everything", I just
want to double check that it is safe to UNPROTECT() allocated
variables as soon as they are assigned to, say, a PROTECTed list.

bad performance on 2.4.23
hi,
- big and ugly mail. If you don't like them, delete it now :-) -
I have collected and classified some information of:
http://home.earthlink.net/~rwhron/kernel/bigbox.html
And I observed that ext3 performance is worse than previous
kernels(2.4.19...). -ac and -aa are here only as reference.
Complete information is in the upper URL.
dbench: Performance is worse.

SYSLINUX 2.09-pre4
I have just released SYSLINUX 2.09-pre4 with a few changes:
a) SYSLINUX should now correctly handle mode changes from within a
COMBOOT program.
b) Tweaks to the menu system to avoid the "grey text on black" problem.
c) A new color scheme for the menu system (Murali, check it out and see
if you think it works for you.)

SYSLINUX 3.55-pre5 and 3.60-pre7 - RC status
Hi all,
I have just pushed out SYSLINUX 3.55-pre5 and 3.60-pre7. I have decided
to give them both release candidate status, with the intent of having a
simultaneous 3.55 (bug fixes only) and 3.60 (new functionality) release.
Please test them out and let me know how they do.

SYSLINUX 2.06-pre3
I have released a SYSLINUX 2.06-pre3. This includes modifications to
ppmtolss16 so that it should now be completely compliant with all modes
of the PNM specification, raw/plain, PBM/PGM/PPM, with comment lines or
without.

Please test it out ASAP if at all possible. Since the fixes for -pre1
and -pre2 were pretty essential, I'd like
