Creating HD Boot Images
I have been trying to track down information on building HD boot images for ISOLINUX and MEMDISK, and so far, haven't had a whole lot of luck. I've found a number of sources describing the process of setting up ISOLINUX and MEMDISK, and how to configure the boot CD to boot various OS's. I've also read through Bart Lagerweij's BootCD/ModBoot pages, and Mikhail

Allow insecure wide links = yes, wide links =yes; but I still can't "see" files from links to NFS mounts using 3.6.15, after upgrading from 2.2.8a
Hi friends, I updated our old sparc Solaris 9 server running samba 2.2.8a to 3.6.15 so that Mac 10.7+ users could access this file server. However now we can't see files in folders that are links to NFS mounts from other servers. I can access folders/files that are links outside the share but local to the samba server, but for links to folders that are mounted to the server via NFS from

boot speed
To: Syslinux From: John Plunkett When Syslinux is used with floppy disks with a 1.44 MB format the boot proceeds at a good speed with no problems. When a format over 1.44 MB is used, the boot takes up to ten minutes. Is there a special setting for booting from floppy disks over 1.44 MB's? Is there documentation on how to configure with floppy disks with a format over 1.44 MB's? Thanks,

How to get it running...
Hello List, i have a spelling and reading software i would like to get running for a primary school because they should not be using windows and the teachers really want that software. I have already tried to get it running with a few people in #winehq, but it seems that its more a guessing game than a streight debugging and solving way. What steps do i need to do to get it running? First of

Reloading Smb.conf automatically?
Just a few quick questions: If I make changes to smb.conf, do I need to restart the SMB and NMB services, or is it like Vixie Cron, where it'll re-read the file and adapt changes every minute? Why do I have multiple NMB instances running, but only one SMB? Thanks for the help! Aton

Large Floppy Images
I am still unable to build and boot large floppy images. 1.44, 2.88, and any size HD images work great. No problem. However I have BIOSes with problems booting HD images and would like to get large floppy working. I have tried every script and method I could find with PC DOC 7 and MS DOS 6.22. I have spent too much time analyzing boot sectors. So a few questions: 1. Who has actually see it

Syslinux: Multi-Disks [feature]
Hi, I'm the maintainer ROCK Linux (www.rocklinux.org). We are using isolinux on our Install-CDs for x86 systems. We - as most other distributions too - are running in the problem that even minimalistc kernels are slowly growing and sometimes don't fit on 1.44 MB floppies anymore. 2.5.x kernels with initramfs are even bigger than 2.88 MB in some cases... Until now it always has been

DOCMEMORY 2.0 (simmtester) and MEMDISK

syslinux mkisofs hard-disk-boot isohybrid

Together with the report of Pascal that a hard-disk-emulation works even with mkisofs option -b (i.e. Platform Id x86 BIOS) it appears that the UEFI implementation treats the El Torito boot image like the whole device, regardless of Platform Id.
