seatools for DOS
I downloaded the 'seatools for DOS' diskette creator on seagate website. it's a windows program that creates the diskette; so a floppy disk must be present in the drive. running the program is ok, but creating the diskette fails, it says "the current diskette format not valid". while the diskette is blank, vfat, mounted and linked to a: in wine; so everything seems to be ok.

cdrecord issues
I have an issue with cdrecord though and I can't figure it out. I use
Webmin, which basically just creates an iso and then uses cdrecord to
burn it and it worked fine with previously installed CentOS 4 (I wiped
and reinstalled about 8 months ago).
This is the command that Webmin tries to execute...
cdrecord -v dev=0,0,0 speed=4 -isosize \

Using cdrecord on CentOS
Hi,
I'd like to use cdrecord on the command line. I'm currently reading the
relevant chapter in Carla Schroder's "Linux Cookbook". Unfortunately,
some of the tricks and hints included in the book don't seem to work the
same way on a standard CentOS 5 install.
1) Am I supposed to be root to use cdrecord and burn an .iso file?
2) How do I specify a device?

Syslinux 1.75, LEAF Bering 1.2, Compaq 2266
I have been using the LEAF Bering firewall for a year or so. It boots
with Syslinux 1.75. But Bering is too large for a 1440KB floppy, so it
formats the diskette as 1680KB. Recently I found a small Compaq 2266 box
to replace a larger Compaq 7170 to run the firewall. But when I try to
boot the Bering diskette on the 2266 I get the following message:

cdrecord Error (Permissions?)
List,
Sorry to trouble anyone, a google on my error from k3b lead me to a
permissions issue, but after searching through several of the links
(including a few forums) I've failed to turn up exactly what the
permissions should be or if that is even an accurate solution.
When running k3b I get an error stating that cdrecord did not exit
properly. And k3b will not burn a cd.

MOre on buring ISOs
So right now I have installed k3b on this notebook. I am using my Storix
DVD/CDRW usb drive. I can read cds with it.
Cannot burn CDs. First k3b suggests slowing down (from 8x to 4x). Then
use TAO. Then it gave up.
So I try cdrecord directly. -checkdrive finds some interesting things.
Got to close the drive manually; cdrecord says it can't. then try a
cdrecord -v dev=dev/scd0 sample.iso

more: Have install diskette for 3.0, but can't find the .img for 4.0
I have found something called: diskboot.img
at: http://www.gtlib.gatech.edu/pub/centos/4/os/i386/images/
But it is 6Mb large (6411Kb) instead of 1411Kb
And the rawreadwrirewin program gets an error on it when run on NT. On
Win2000, it makes a diskette that fails to boot..
So really, HELP!!!!
I 'just' discovered that my old bootable diskette is for Centos 3.0, and my
other CDs are

syslinux / antique computers
Hi,
is there an easy way to circumvent the SYSLINUX novice protection thing?
intended users don't know about CTRL key to circumvent it.
I'm trying to make a generic bootdisk for systems of 8086 - Pentium4.
however the bootdisk is slow, so I'd like to use Syslinux + Memdisk to load a diskette image.
then the text displayed to user will be:

Connecting to 1.9.18p10 from DOS boot diskette
I'm trying to connect to aSamba 1.9.18p10 share on my HP-UX 10.20 host, using an MS-DOS boot diskette (well, actually a Windows 95 boot diskette, but relying on the DOS-style protocol stack, etc.).
When I issue the same username and password that I use to connect to that share from my Windows NT client, I get an invalid password message.
Two things come to mind: is the DOS client sending my

Writing a DVD
Hi there.
I am unsuccessfully trying to write a data DVD on FreeBSD 4.8.
The writer is a Sony DVD RW DRU-500A on IDE. I'm using the atapicam
driver. The media is a Sony DVD+RW which arrived with the writer.
Both with cdrecord ProDVD (from the ports or otherwise) and dvdrtools
I get a general SCSI retryable error message, when trying to write a
data track or blank a DVD.

DVD writer problem
I have an NEC DVD-RW ND2500A (that's not the label I bought it under,
but that's what it really is.) It's supposed to read/write CDs, DVDs,
DVD+Rs, and DVD-Rs. I'm basically dual booting between XP and CentOS 4.
Following the recipe in "The Linux Cookbook", I tried to copy a DVD using:
dd if=/dev/hdd of=/tmp/diskfile.iso
then
cdrecord dev=/dev/hdd fs=32m

How do I blank or overwrite DVD-RW disks in CentOS 5?
I'm trying to use DVD-RW ("minus RW") disks in my LG GSA-4040B
drive. I can write a new disk just fine, but can't find any way to
blank or re-use a disk. When I run xcdroast and click on the "Blank

Natulius CD burner does not accept my 700Mb CD-R disks
When I try to burn anything to cd, I get a message to insert a CD large
enough for my file (normally an ISO image). Doesn't matter if the iso
image is a 600Mb Centos ISO or a 48Mb DSL ISO. Same warning.
My CD-Rs are Memorex 700MB/80min 52x disks that work just fine on XP
systems.
So what am I missing configuration-wise?

Boot diskette for install CD
(New to CentOS and just joined the list.)
Is there a boot diskette image for the install CD? I want to install
CentOS in a classroom that does not have CD boot enabled. I couldn''t
find one on the install CD, although it did have a USB flash drive boot
image. I''m pretty sure that the machines in the classroom are too old to
be able to boot from USB flash drives. (I will check on
