[Semi-OT] How to minimize transaction fees in escrow like environment
I am currently developing an application in which two users exchange
goods and money in an escrow like environment.
Buyer has some money and wants an item that Seller has. Buyer does not
want to pay Seller until Seller ships the item.
I am unsure of how to best handle the payment part of my application.
Buyer''s money eventually has to end up at Seller and my company would

FTS Solr errors using doveadm
Solr 7 returns JSON by default but fts_solr requires XML.
Would be good to have wt=xml added to the query to force it to xml all the time, this would prevent errors if solr has
not had xml set as default for index.
Dovecot 2.2.36
Centos 6

Proposal for Bitrate peeling.
Hi all,
First up, this is not a proposal on how to do it, but rather on how to
get it done.
In the latest thread it was mentioned that it was most likely that
either Monty or Segher would be the most likely people to implement
this code. It was also stated that this is not their priority at the
moment. I can only see two solutions to this problem:
1. Find someone else with the knowledge and

String replacement in an expression
Dear R-experts,
I need to replace in an expression the character "Cl" by "Cl+beta"
But in the following case:
form<-expression((Cl-(V *ka) ) +(V *Vm *exp(-(Clm/Vm) *t)))
gsub("Cl","(Cl+beta)",as.character(form))
We obtain:
[1] "((Cl+beta) - (V * ka)) + (V * Vm * exp(-((Cl+beta)m/Vm) * t))"
the character "Clm" has been

UK Encryption ban legislation {from: [comp.risks] RISKS DIGEST 18.95}
I think this is an issue of serious interest to many of the subscribers
of these lists; it would effectively ban a lot of security-related tools
that many of use now find indispensable, e.g. ssh, pgp.

cryptsetup
On a just-built C 7 box, I've got this: boot, boot_efi, /, swap, and
export. Now, the last three are encrypted. For /, I'm trying to add an
escrow key. df -h shows me that / is /dev/dm-1. However, when I use
cryptsetup luksAddKey /dev/dm-1, it just comes back, without prompting me
for a password.
What am I missing?

MODISTools Help
1. You should always cc the list unless there is a clear reason not to.
2. You still have failed to follow the posting guide: You say you have
difficulty troubleshooting your code, but you have shown us no code.
You got an error message that seems explicit, but with neither code
nor data, I do not know whether anyone can make sense of it. In any
case, I certainly cannot.
Cheers,

Please read up [1][2][3] on what constitutes reproducibility. A sample of data that triggers the problem is essential.

R crashes on Repeated ODBC Queries
Hi,
I've been up all night trying to get the following to work.
First here is the setup. I have a P4 1G mem running WinXP SP2, R 2.0.1
patched 2005-01-15, MySQL 4.1.7 and MyODBC 3.51.
I've been pulling data from MySQL using the code at the end of the post,
where start.date and end.date are chron objects and auction.type is a
string. I've been rushed so the code, especially the

Defining the "random" term in function "negbin" of AOD package
I have tried glm.nb in the MASS package, but many models (I have 250 models
with different combinations of predictors for fish counts data) either fail
to converge or even diverge.
I'm attempting to use the negbin function in the AOD package, but am unsure
what to use for the "random" term, which is supposed to provide a right hand
formula for the overdispersion parameter.

Scheduled workers only run once unless you call self.delete inside the worker
I had a worker scheduled to run every minute with
backgroundrb_schedules.yml:
ebay_runner:
:class: :ebay_auction_worker
:job_key: :ebay_auction_runner
:trigger_type: :cron_trigger
:trigger_args: 0 * * * * * *
This worker posts an auction to eBay from a queue of auctions every minute.
I was having a problem where the worker would run ok the first time, but
never any subsequent minutes
