multi OS bootable CD, ISOLinux, ERD Commander problem
Hello all, I plan to make an (emergency) multi OS bootable CD which contain: - Win98 boot floppy (create from Win 98 control panel, add remove program) - WinME boot floppy (create from Win 98 control panel, add remove program) - Linux boot disk - Win NT boot disk - Win 2000 recovery console - Win XP recovery console - Winternal Administrative Pak (ERD Commander etc) I am new to Linux and feel

SYSLinux/ISOLinux question
Look into the original XP cd and see where NTLDR is located, then place it on your cd in the same directory and it 'should' work. I have created some 2000 XP boot cd's with integrated recent service pack's and they still boot. But I do that with cdrecord+original boot sector, not with any isolinux stuff... But I hope this help! -----Original Message----- From: G. Murali

Booting a no-emulation image
Is it possible to boot a no-emulation boot image from ISOLinux? I am particularly interested in having the WinXP Install CD, as one of the boot images in ISOLinux. - Murali ################################################################ # Ry 254, Ryerson Hall, # Ph : +1 773 702-1031 (Off) # # 1100 E 58th Street # +1 773 575-4836 (Cell) # # Chicago, IL - 60637, #

Supporting WinImage compressed images
I am using PXELINUX, ISOLINUX, and memdisk in my project (http://unattended.sourceforge.net/). When memdisk gained support for compressed images, I started using it because it is cool. I used gzip to compress floppy.img to create floppy.imz, and all was good. But now my users are complaining that they cannot use WinImage (a Windows floppy image editing tool) to edit my floppy.imz files. I have

SYSLINUX 2.01-pre1 released
This isn't strictly speaking a SYSLINUX release, it's a change to MEMDISK and mkdiskimage to allow the creation of hard disk images with DOSEMU headers. This should make it easier to create bootable DOS hard disk images under DOSEMU. ftp://ftp.kernel.org/pub/linux/utils/boot/syslinux/Testing/ -hpa

Thanks for pxelinux & memdisk
This message is from Luis F. Correia, who unfortunately could not post it himself to the list.... ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- -- Hi! I would like to thank you, H. Peter Anvin for creating this wonderful set of tools. The only thing that bothers me is the lack of proper examples in the docs. Syslinux and affiliates would certainly improve

Relocating COM32 modules to higher mem
Hello, As it is known, Syslinux loads COM32 modules to 0x101000 (the PM IDT is at 0x100000). Unfortunately, in my project this area of memory is already occupied by another program that I need to preserve for a while (specifically, until Syslinux's COM32 module boots up the OS kernel). In other words, I need to load and execute COM32 modules from other than 0x101000 area of memory (for

Trying to build ISOLinux Minimal CD
Okay.. I'm pulling out my hair, not having much luck trying to get ISOLinux (syslinux) running on my IBM x345 Server... I want to put my boot (syslinux) and root files (lib etc for modules) on the CDROM and just boot off of it to use PartImage... Not having much luck though.. For testing purposes I'm using the boot floopy I created using "The Linux Bootdisk HOWTO" and it

Gaussian Quadrature Numerical Integration In R
Hi All, I am trying to use A Gaussian quadrature over the interval (-infty,infty) with weighting function W(x)=exp(-(x-mu)^2/sigma) to estimate an integral. Is there a way to do it in R? Is there a function already implemented which uses such weighting function. I have been searching in the statmode package and I found the function "gauss.quad(100, kind="hermite")" which uses

Trig.Rd typo (PR#9269)
Full_Name: Robin Hankin Version: 2.4.0 RC OS: MacOSX 10.4.7 Submission from: (NULL) (139.166.242.29) The first cut line described in Trig.Rd for asin() is incorrect in the ascii version of the manpage. The Rd file reads: For \code{asin()} and \code{acos()}, there are two cuts, both along the real axis: \eqn{\left(-\infty, -1\right]}{\(-Inf, 1\]} and Note the inconsistency between the

how to use quadrature to integrate some complicated functions
Hello to all, I am having trouble with intregrating a complicated uni-dimensional function of the following form Phi(x-a_1)*Phi(x-a_2)*...*Phi(x-a_{n-1})*phi(x-a_n). Here n is about 5000, Phi is the cumulative distribution function of standard normal, phi is the density function of standard normal, and x ranges over (-infty,infty). My idea is to to use quadrature to handle this integral. But

Converting a function from Splus to R
I have a function written for Splus, when I run it in R I obtain get an error because the function has the elements "0.d0" and "2.d0". How can I change it to run in R? The function can be found in page 230 from http://www.stat.wisc.edu/~mchung/teaching/stat471/stat_computing.pdf Function is as follows: gauher <- function(n) {# Gauss-Hermite: returns x,w so that

numerical integration
Greetings, Sorry, the last message was sent by mistake! Here it is again: I encounter a strange problem computing some numerical integrals on [0,oo). Define $$ M_j(x)=exp(-jax) $$ where $a=0.08$. We want to compute the $L^2([0,\infty))$-inner products $$ A_{ij}:=(M_i,M_j)=\int_0^\infty M_i(x)M_j(x)dx $$ Analytically we have $$ A_{ij}=1/(a(i+j)). $$ In the code below we compute the matrix

Questions regarding "integrate" function
Hi there. Thanks for your time in advance. I am using R 2.2.0 and OS: Windows XP. My final goal is to calculate 1/2*integral of (f1(x)^1/2-f2(x)^(1/2))^2dx (Latex codes: $\frac{1}{2}\int^{{\infty}}_{\infty} (\sqrt{f_1(x)}-\sqrt{f_2(x)})^2dx $.) where f1(x) and f2(x) are two marginal densities. My problem: I have the following R codes using "adapt" package. Although "adapt"

R-alpha: R 0.50.a1: patch for NChisquare documentation
The patch below fixes the NChisquare documentation problem that I've been mentioning for some time now. NOTE: There is one DEQN where the LaTeX part contains real LaTeX code, because I did not see how to get a sum sign (and a roman math font) otherwise. Seems to work, though ...
