nilo -> tftp-hpa interaction
I downloaded nilo and oskit from www.nilo.org. Added pcnet32.c linux-2.0.39 driver to oskit. Compiled nilo with pcnet32 and produced boot floppy image. Use it inside vmware vm. My aim is to be able to test pxelinux using vmware+nilo and not a real machine. Floppy starts, detects nic, receives ip from dhcp server, requests boot image to tftpd-hpa, then crashes when talking to tftp. Is

PXE UNDI Options in PXELINUX
Hello I wonder, if you know any more about the possibilities of having a standard Network driver for most cards. Is there any such thing for linux? Where do I get it? Is there possibly something for DOS? A UNDI Packetdriver would be cool, because then I could use DosSCP on every Network card I would ever be using with MemDisk (which in turn is very cool.) bye Christian (thinking about writing

Netboot and PXELINUX
Hi all, I have just been informed that Netboot (http://netboot.sourceforge.net/) can be used to produce PXE boot ROMs. I wonder if anyone has tried running this combination with PXELINUX? This is obviously a really big deal... :) -hpa

Transform a normal boot on a network boot
Hello, there is a transparent and standard way to boot from the network, a media that is bootable (cdrom, floppies) ? It is possible to interpret the standard boot sector and use a network boot loader such as pxelinux or other, to tell where to find, and the proper way to load the correct files from the tftp server ? An example would be appreciated using "common" boot disks, for

pxelinux fron Floppy disk?
Hi there, we are using a couple of Diskless Linux Workstations in conjunction with PXE capabable Network cards to boot the system. This works fine using pxelinux. However, there are a few workstations left, which are not able to boot via PXE and thus this workstations need a Kernel on a floppy disk and an additional initrd image. The Problem with is, that both of them don't fit on a floppy

import DTM with readRAST6()
Hello everybody, I am a new R & Grass user. I am interested in doing a kriging of the Temperature in a basin, based on pixel elevation (DTM). I use Grass 6.2.1 and R 2.5.1 and have installed the spgrass6 package. The DTM is called "DTM_trentino_100m" and is like this: north:5158000.0 south:5058500.0 east:1729700.0 west:1611600.0 rows:995 cols:1181 -9999.0 -9999.0 -9999.0

SYSLINUX and local hard disk
Hello, First, I'd like to say that this is an extremely useful piece of software - thank-you very much! I am working with couple of schools in my area, and using pxelinux and syslinux for various things. I find the functionality of pxelinux's localboot option to be extremely useful - I force pxe boot, and then use pxelinux to let the user choose local boot or remote boot. This is

pxelinux and multiboot support
Hi. Is it possible to integrate multiboot support, which was described by the nilo-project? I think grub support multiboot too. The reason for this feature request is, that it would be much easier to configure some modules to be loaded by pxelinux, than compiling a new full featured kernel. Also, if there are many different hosts, we would not need many different kernels (or one

Jumping to PXE boot from DOS
Hello all, I want to create a program that runs from a pxe-loaded virtual floppy (using memdisk + keeppxe) to call again PXE boot. I took a piece of code form NILO to look for PXE data structures and the call to function PXENV_START_BASE from PXE spec as follows: lower = (unsigned char *)LOWER_PXE_MEM; upper = (unsigned char *)UPPER_PXE_MEM; for (i=upper; i>lower;i--) { if

The community
It occurred to me over the last few days that in fact I hadn''t been a model ShoreWall Citizen so I went to the site and visited this link for inspiration: http://www.cityofshoreline.com/about/history/index.html Here I was reminded of just how open source communities are suppose to work. Just like the early beginnings of Shoreline, Tom has brought together many scattered settlements

PXELINUX, pxechain.com and Etherboot
Hi, Anyone has tried to use pxechain with Etherboot? Here is my problem: The Etherboot client had no problem to get the list of install servers manual from the pxechain. But didn't matter which server was chosen, Etherboot client always tried to use the first server to do the installation. Etherboot 5.4 was used. What the problem may be? PXEchain or Etherboot? Thanks, Joyce --

Getting EPROM programmer software to work under Wine
I have some software for an EPROM programmer that's intended to run under Windows. Of course, I would much rather it work on Wine... The software in question is available here: http://www.bkprecision.com/products/docs/software/845.zip It installs fine, but when I run it, the software loads it's UI, and then throws up a message box that says simply "EPrivilege". When you click

pxelinux.0
I'm not sure if this belongs here or on an etherboot list. I've given up on trying to get a single floppy syslinux with enough stuff to remote mount a file system. I'm trying an etherboot floppy. When I boot the system finds the dhcp server and gets the right file name but then it gives me the message "not a valid image." A quick search of the net didn't help much.

PXE-on-a-disk Intel EM64T reboot
Hello! I have been successful using SYSLINUX and Etherboot to create a generic "PXE-on-a-disk" package, a floppy image and CD image that support as many Ethernet cards as possible. These have support for all of Etherboot's modules that support real PCI cards: about 25-or-so drivers and 250-or-so cards. I've built Etherboot ZLILO images, one for each driver, set up to boot
