Bug in 1.75 PXE code
Hi! I've spent the last days trying to get PXE working (with all the nice stuff that's in the specification - doesn't work :-( ) So I tried the new 1.75 with the Intel DOSUndi Bootdisk (which should verify that everything works correctly) but it does no longer work with syslinux-1.75! 1.74 is fine - so I guess something is broken here ... Please have a look at it - and let me know

pxelinux and image selection?
Hi! I've been working with pxelinux for quite some time now, and I'd like to use PXE and a simple kind of selection menu (like syslinux does). But I couldn't get it to work. I can enter several "label" sections to my pxelinux.cfg/<something> but it'll never ask, just boot the first/default one ... Is this currently supported at all? Or did I miss something?

Building a bootable floppy image > 1.44MB
Hi there! After reading the last posting about creating a boot disk as non-root, I have a question of my own: Does anyone know a way to produce a floppy/harddisk image able to boot a DOS environment (without using windows, vmware or other tools of that kind)? Is it perhaps even possible to create larger disk images (>2.88MB)? It's no problem to get an image with a DOS filesystem, but

smbd process with high cpu utilization.
One of my smbd processes used 100% cpu. I straced the process and the output follows: washington:~# strace -p 3416 fcntl64(13, F_SETLKW64, {type=F_UNLCK, whence=SEEK_SET, start=404, len=1}, 0xbfffefa0) = 0 sendto(12, "\3\0X\r\0\0&\0\0\0\0\0\0\0\'\374\f\0\0\0\0\0\16\0\0\0", 26, 0, {sin_family=AF_INET, sin_port=htons(41373), sin_addr=inet_addr("127.0.0.1")}}, 16) = 26

GPL PV Drivers for Windows: install.bat problem
Hi, I just played with the new GPL PV driver release a bit, and there''s a problem when running the included install.bat from a read-only device (pvdriver.zip was extracted, and "burned" to virtual CD) Cause of this problem: During installation dpinst.exe is copied to the matching driver directory (located on the install media) and executed there. Unfortunately this fails

Samba4: Full schema problems
Hi, I just updated my test environment to latest samba4 git (with full MS schema). My Windows XP clients are quite happy, and creation of inetOrgPerson accounts is possible now! Great work! However I'm running into some trouble when accessing samba's LDAP server with ldap browsers. The error only occurs while browsing the schema dn: cn=schema,cn=configuration, $BASEDN I tried

Problem with Notepad ++
If your file is unchanged and the modified time is unchange in both ls -l and the Windows file browser and notepad++ saw a change then the problem is with notepad++ not in samba or linux. syslinux PXE boot version upgrade, network no longer working
Hi All, I had some issues with keeppxe and also found a solution after much trial and error. I would have not mind trying out ?experimental? binaries but it was not clear where to find them. I use a stock a stock install of slackware64 current for my tftp server. I use pfsense to point to the tftp server under the dhcp boot options. I upgraded from Syslinux 6.03 to 6.04 pre1 and was still

syslinux PXE boot version upgrade, network no longer working
Hi David, On Mon, 5 Feb 2018 18:09:51 -0500 David McDowell via Syslinux <syslinux at zytor.com> wrote: > Thanks for the suggestion Lukas. So neither a fork nor a different project ;) . According to the link I had provided:

BestPower Ferrups driver glitch with f commands
The problem will only affect newer firmwares on the BestPower FerrUPS 2.1kva units. Additional white-space was the issue. I added a if clause to the bestfcom driver to account for this without breaking what was there. Here is the patch: diff -rupN release-orig/nut-2.7.1/drivers/bestfcom.c release-patched/nut-2.7.1/drivers/bestfcom.c --- release-orig/nut-2.7.1/drivers/bestfcom.c 2013-07-31

SYSLINUX 3.31-pre3 released
After thinking a bit of the multi-file support in 3.31-pre1, and considering a few users' feedback on the subject, I have made a couple of changes: 1. The dummy filename ~ can be used to mean "the main config file". 2. There is a MENU INCLUDE directive now. -hpa

Slightly off topic but concerning R#DSC-2005
Has anyone seen an official announcement to DSC-2005. I saw and email exchange on the R-news list in mid January in which a date was announced unofficially. (to DSC-organizers: we need and "official" announcement to request funding and travel permission and flights from Europe to Seattle are starting to fill up, so this is urgent). Problem with Notepad ++
A little more thought into helping troubleshooting maybe take an ls -l and a properties screen shot in the middle of editing a file. It could be some setting in notepad++ that is interfering with itself. (no subject)
Greetings to you all, I had a quick question that I was not able to find an answer for. I am running Redhat 7.2 on i386 (Pentium III), and I am getting an error when I try to compile the samba 2.2.2 source, and I get the following error: Using FLAGS = -O -Iinclude -I./include -I./ubiqx -I./smbwrapper -D_LARGEFILE64_SOURCE -D_FILE_OFFSET_BITS=64 -D_GNU_SOURCE

The desire for prettier and cheaper images ...
This might be easy (but I didn't find an answer in the archives). I'm trying to make nice looking images (using image()). To make them look nice (not jagged), it usually takes me at least 100x100 points. This can be slow for frequent redraws. Is there a smarter (less point intensive) way? I was thinking in terms of hexabins, for example, which for much less jagged looking regions,

unexpected behavior in bwplot
R-2.1.1 on windows XP I just noticed something unpleasant when using bwplot (from lattice). In order to satisfy a wish from a client, I needed to produce sets of boxplots conditioned by another factor. My client didn't like the look of the boxplots (by default, they have a star to mark the median, instead of the commonly used line). I told him "no problem" dumped panel.bwplot,

request/suggestion: modified names
For some time now I use a modified version of names (extract direction) of the following type: Names<- function (x,filter="^") { grep(filter, names(x),value=TRUE) } Request: Has anyone already written a version which goes the other way (that is, which allows assignment of the type Names(x,filter)<-...). Naive versions are obvious, but I think something would have to be done
