Memdisk booting XP DOS
Memdisk 2.08 does not appear to be able to boot an XP DOS image (it starts to boot and then hangs). XP DOS appears to be borrowed from WinME (v4.90.3000). I was trying to make a multiple boot CD with Bart's method: http://www.nu2.nu/bootcd/#multimemdisk but substituting Brads TCP boot disk instead of Barts: http://members.iinet.net.au/~bdriver/bootdisk/index.htm Brad uses XPs DOS as it

Memdisk & tomsrtbt
tom & peter Hi Guys, I have a little problem I'm hoping you can help me with. When I try to boot toms image, memdisk states a "fractional end sector" while loading the image. It continues with the process until I get a "Booting..." prompt and then freezes. Here's the whole story: A while back I acquired version tomsrtbt 2.0.103, to make a multi-image boot cd as

isolinux - memdisk - thanks!
Hi Peter, You did a great job on the isolinux and memdisk tools.. I can know, I've also written a CD-Rom disk emulator, only it's slow (read from the CD) uses 22KB conventional memory (mainly cache) and the emulated floppy image cannot be written to. http://www.nu2.nu/diskemu/ You're memdisk is fast, small conventional memory footprint and the emulated drive is writeable, very,

isolinux 1.67
Hi, I've made some (small) changes to your isolinux 1.67 to support loading of .bin files. For example to load NT cdrom bootsectors, or other raw loaders... Size is fixed to 1 sector (2KB). Extension must be ".bin". Loading address is fixed to (default) 0x0:0x7c00. All my changes are marked between tags: <bart>...</bart> Just thought I'd send it to you do with it

isolinux.asm - improving spec_query_failed routine...
Hi Peter, I noticed in your isolinux.asm code, when loading spec packet fails you are trying to wing it, in other word, loop the drive numbers from 0xff through 0x80 until the booted drive number is found... I write software that also "wings it". Recently I had to create some "wird" workarounds because of bad bios in some Dell and Compaq PC's. Below is my function for

RE: Memdisk - unload
OOPS. Hit the wrong key. Hope you didn't get the previous message! I've been using Barts Boot CD method at: http://www.nu2.nu/bootcd/#multimemdisk It works great...trouble is, it creates a ramdisk of it's own. I end up with the following drive assignments when I boot DOS/Winxx: a: - memdisk image of boot floppy c: - hda1 d: - hda2 (etc) q: - ramdisk created by barts

problem with isolinux 3.10 & 3.11
hi, i'm doing my own windows multiboot dvd's using latest ultraiso and isolinux 3.09, and everything was fine till now. now i tried 3.11 and this release doesn't load any windows cd boot sectors while other stuff like memtest works fine. same for isolinux 3.10, both the normal and the debug version. the attachment shows a vmware 5.5 beta window with an error message by isolinux 3.11

memtest86 problem
Hi! At first thanks for your great work! I started to make multiboot CDs 1,5 years ago, with Bart Lagerweij 's utils. I have a problem with the memtest86 floppy image, made by the authors in the .zip file, downloadable from it's homepage, when I use diskemu. Some days ago I found on Bart's page a new method to select boot images on CD with syslinux/isolinux/memdisk. I thought this is

Windows boot-NTLDR not found?
Hello All, I am using NU2's BCD with the isolunix/memdisk add-on to create the cd. Floppy images work fine, however the bootsector (w2K et.al) doesn't. I get an NTLDR not found error. Not a problem, as the issue is that the bootsector needs to be in the root of the CD. Well if I do that then how do I spec that location properly in isolinux.cfg for the label tag? For example- this

Floppy image larger than 2,88MB
I hope I've understand that all, somebody wants to create a floppy-image larger than 2.88MB an use it with memdisk? I have modified a tool from Bart Lagerweij (Big thanks!) and can create Floppy-Images with 5760kB and 8100kB, and boot them with ISOLINUX and MEMDISK (or also with a modified DISKEM1X.BIN), is this what you mean? These tools must run under windows, but booting no problem.

ISOLINUX help requested (checksum error)
Hi Mr Anvin, after downloading the Freedos bootable cd, which now uses your projects (ISOLINUX & MEMDISK) instead of Bart Lagerweij's DISKEMU (www.nu2.nu), I contacted the creator of the freedos cdrom. I was interested in how he did make that cd bootable. Now I understand it a bit. As I'm a MS Windows user, I had to figure some things out. However, upon booting I get a beautiful

Question about .bs and .bss style bootsectors.
Hello Recently I've been happily experimenting with syslinux, replacing grub and my old bootmanager. All works beautifully, but I have one question - in case of .bss bootsectors - what exactly and under what circumstances is patched in ? With syslinux used as main bootmanager - bootsectors from xp64, xp32 and [pre-syslinux] msdos 7.1 (98se) work perfectly fine when chainloaded natively as

A Little Problem with the new Isolinux
Hallo, I have a little problem with Isolinux. Hi, I would be happy, if they could lend a hand me at my problem! I create a bootable CD, the I-Loader.bin starts the Isolinux.bin, because I don?t like use mkisofs. Isolinux can start an Disketten Image, but not an Eltorito Image like Windos 2000 Cd?s. The error Message is "Invalid or corrupt Kernel Image" WAY? I know, that the file is

Very Nice!
Hey Peter! Great work on the SYSLINUX project! I spent three days noodling over how to accomplish *exactly* what your ISOLINUX/MEMDISK combination does! Even a blind hog finds an acorn from time to time. I have it working great using the crpack utility suite from http://www.nu2.nu and one of Bart Lagerweij's techniques employs your SYSLINUX utilities - you probably already know all about

Cannot Boot PC-Dos Image with memdisk
Hi, I'm trying to build a boot CD following "Bart's way to create bootable CD-Roms (www.nu2.nu)" using isolinux and memdisk. The image I'm trying to boot is built containing IBM's PC-Dos. This works perfectly on 2 of my machines, but the 3rd fails. I get all the 'normal' memdisk messages, finishing with: Loading bootsector... booting... Non-System disk or
