Which libtiff 3.8.2 do I grab?
Via google: libtiff 3.8.2 http://rpm.pbone.net/index.php3/stat/4/idpl/2839214/com/libtiff-3.8.2-2.x86_64.rpm.html This got me to a page all about libtiff 3.8.2 for 'Fedora other' and a link http://rpm.pbone.net/index.php3?stat=3&search=libtiff&srodzaj=3 for other distributions. So which do I take? ?

libtiff 3.6.1 and Asterisk spandsp
Per: http://soft-switch.org/spandsp_faq/ar01s07.html FAXing with spandsp keeps giving me core dumps. Its crap, isn't it? Actually the crap in this case is probably libtiff. Versions 3.5.7 and 3.6.0 seem reliable. The FAX image handling in version 3.6.1 is broken. All the core dump problems I have investigated turned out to be due to a very old version of libtiff, or version 3.6.1. I am

spandsp and app_rxfax (alternative topic: t38modem)
Dear gods of the PBX (flattery works here, right?) - I've been pulling my hair out trying to get Asterisk to receive and decode a fax using spandsp and app_rxfax. It seems like it should be working. The fax machine on the other end connects and Asterisk reports a fax coming in. But when it's done all I have is a 2 or 3 KB TIF (see attachment). The console activity looks completely

Fedora source packages on Centos -- libtiff again
In my seeking a managable way to build libtiff, on the Asterfax forum I got the following recommendation (from another fax user that made the move to libtiff 3.8.2): ================================================================ Hi Robert, I have compiled libtiff-3.8.2 from the source package for my Fedora Core 4 machine. I am not sure about CentOS, but I think you can try to do the same

Failed to recieve Fax: Asterisk - IAXModem - Hylafax
Hi, I've tired to forward a Fax from Asterisk to Hylafax. It works so far until I tried with a Fax machine. I just got error shown in the log below. I'm not sure why. I've tested it with other 6 machines and they all work fine. Do you have any idea why? Libtiff 3.5.7 - recommended version for spandsp
Hi, package tiff-v3.5.7 contains the currently recommended version of libtiff in order to run spandsp (fax support for asterisk). Imho tiff-v3.5.7 is not very easy to find in the internet, and maybe will almost disappear, because it is an "old" version, I put it on our little asterisk download page. Maybe it'll help someone. It works fine together with the other asterisk stuff

Spandsp - Libtiff problem
Hello all, I use Fedora 3, and I have compilation problem of SpanDsp , when installaing spandsp, tiff warnings and errors generated and libunicall generate "unresolved references....." Is the problem in my libtiff installation, spandsp.h or in tif_dir.h and tiffiop.h? Are tif_dir.h and tiffiop.h too old? The solution provided by ?HO SIN? to ?Kaws? : >>> recompile libtiff

access samba 3.0 shares from Win2K, Win3K, WinXPProf. using netbios name
Hi: I have a Windows 2003 Server Enterprise Ed. as Domain controller, an its current domain functional level is 'Windows Server 2003'. Also, I have a RedHat Linux 7.3 server with SaMBa (tested with rpm samba-3.0.0-2, and compiling the samba source code). I'd joined the linux server to the AD tree without problems, access from it to the Win2003 shared resources too, but I have

Hai, I dont have hylafax running atm, but can you check for the following. /etc/pam.d/common-account/password/session .. etc. and pam_ldap Look for any : minimum_uid=1000 if you see that, remove "minimum_uid=1000" And whats the UID for user : hylafax After the changes, stop nslcd. Restart samba Restart hylafax If needed reboot the server. And check again. This is the

Why app_rx and app_tx when we have IAXModem and Hylafax and hy-email2fax? Should we reinvent the wheel?
I'm just wondering here, in our community... Why not HylaFax for Fax solutions? I'm not saying bad about the big efforts on app_tx and app_rx with spandsp. But as me and many other asterisk users, we find out that Hylafax+IAXModem+Asterisk is very reliable. And from what i've been testing and reading, Hylafax is an extremely powerful: "HylaFAX is an enterprise-class system for

Issues running Asterisk + Iaxmodem + Hylafax on same machine
I'm running into a strange issue with Asterisk + Iaxmodem + hylafax on the same machine. After rebooting the iaxmodems don't register to asterisk. Stoping and starting the relevant services gets it working, but what is the point of using init scripts if it does not work right? I already tried to adjust the init scripts in /etc/rc3.d so I have: S50asterisk s90iaxmodem S95hylafax So it

iaxmodem, chan_capi, hylafax problem and faxing in general
Can anybody point me in the right direction please? I'm having some issues getting iaxmodem and hylafax to talk to each other. I have no doubt that someone has had this type of issue before but I can't find anything useful in the archives or on Google. Under RH9, with chan_capi 7.1, Asterisk 1.2.24, with an AVI Fritz ISDN2e BRI card all working perfectly... I've downloaded and

Asterisk, IAXModem and Hylafax
Arch = x86_64 OS = CentOS-6.3 (FreePBX) Asterisk = 11.3.0 (FreePBX) Hylafax+ = 5.5.3 (epel) I am installing an Asterisk server with the intent of having it act as our fax server. The Asterisk system was installed using the current FreePBX distro which is reputedly based on CentOS-6.3. I have installed Hylafax+ from epel and I have built and packaged IAXModem-1.2.0 for CentOS-6 using mock and

Asterisk + iaxmodem + hylafax makes sometimes wedged for hylafax
Hi, we have a faxserver with Asterisk, IAXModem and Hylafax. Faxes come from a SIP trunk to Asterisk, then are forwarded throught 5 IAXModems managed with Hylafax. Hylafax users can also send faxes to these modems and Asterisk send them throught the SIP trunk. We also have a dedicated modem used only for sending faxes coming from an Hylafax dedicated user. Sometimes Hylafax reports that a modem

[OT] spandsp hylafax asterisk and confusion
This really only seems practical in a corporate environment however, I would suggest decoupling the creation of faxable material from the act of transmitting it. First use CUPS/Samba to create a 'print to PDF' printer (http://www.google.ca/search?q=samba+pdf+printer) Second use an LDAP to look up to return the email address of the submitter of the job and send them the resulting PDF

detecting fax and passing it to Hylafax
I know it is possible for * to detect fax signal, however is it possible to pass the call to Hylafax? I guess hylafax (is on an external modem) would have to be connected to an internal extension, that part should be easy I guess. In the same way faxes going out would need to be pass over to a POTS outside line. I'm aware that * has a fax module but I like Hylafax fax-junk blocking

Question for someone running hylafax off *.
Hi, I am setting up a hylafax server. From what I've read so far, hylafax supports CID numbers and names but currently does not support DID. I assume I can do something like this... [40faxDIDs] exten => _87[5-8]X,1,SetVar(CALLERIDNAME=${EXTEN}) exten => _87[5-8]X,2,Dial(Zap/g${hylafaxMODEMGROUP}) ...and use the CIDName variable in hylafax to route the faxes to the appropriate
